Book The Comprehension and Miscomprehension of Print Communication

Download or read book The Comprehension and Miscomprehension of Print Communication written by Jacob Jacoby and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 1987. To writers and visualizers, this study sets a range of expectations for comprehension and miscomprehension—pointing the finger of caution that even what seems the simplest of language can be misunderstood, but also calling forth their best efforts, because this benchmark study shows that some communications can be much more successful than others and there is usually room for improvement. To advertisers, the study says that perhaps we often take comprehension too much for granted, being satisfied when consumers respond with something in the general area of our message, rather than in the precise area of what is meant. To academicians, the study gives reliable reference points for thought and dialogue among themselves and the advertising and publishing communities. It underlines what intuitive editors and writers have always known but have not always practiced: that words and ideas are fragile—handle with care if you hope to deliver them intact from one mind to another.

Book Handbook of Economic Psychology

Download or read book Handbook of Economic Psychology written by W.F. Van Raaij and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 673 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea to publish a Handbook of Economic Psychology came up as a natural consequence of a discussion concerning appropriate reading material for courses in economic psychology. The discussion took place a few years ago in the Department of Economic Psychology at Tilburg University, The Netherlands. It was noted that there was a surprising lack of collections of pertinent readings, to say nothing about the lack of textbooks in the English language. So the present editors, who had been involved in the discussion, decided to start working on a Handbook. The situation has changed quite a lot since then. There are now a number of books, internationally available in the English language, in economic psy chology or behavioral economics. The interest in this field of study is expanding quite impressively. The Journal of Economic Psychology is now (1988) in its ninth volume and many other journals are publishing articles in the field. The application of psychological theories and methods to economic prob lems or the study of economic experiences and behavior is variously referred to as economic psychology or behavioral economics. While in principle we do not want to overdo the differences between the two, we have a feeling that economic psychology has a slightly stronger flavor of psychology than behavioral economics which in its turn seems to be closer to economics. Psychologists tend to feel more at home in economic psychology, while economists seem to favor behavioral economics.

Book Agricultural Marketing and Consumer Behavior in a Changing World

Download or read book Agricultural Marketing and Consumer Behavior in a Changing World written by Berend Wierenga and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As in many other sectors, in agribusiness major changes are taking place. On the demand side, consumers are changing lifestyles, eating and shopping habits, and increasingly are demanding more accommodation of these needs in the supermarket. With regard to the supply: the traditional distribution channel dominators - manufacturers of branded consumer products - are trying hard to defend their positions against retailers, who gather and use information about the consumer to streamline their enterprises and strengthen their ties with the consumer. The agricultural producers, meanwhile, face increased regulations with regard to food additives, pesticides, and herbicides. Pressures rise as their business becomes more specialized and capital-intensive than that of their predecessors. Finally, the larger political climate is not so favorable to agriculture, which now has to compete in the global market without significant government support. This title describes and interprets changes in the domain of agriculture and food. The contributors develop the theme of taking an interdisciplinary approach to coping with these changes, using concepts and methods developed in general marketing, which are adapted so as to apply to the particular characteristics of the food and agriculture sector. This book is published to honor the distinguished career of Professor Mathew T.G. Meulenberg from Wageningen Agricultural University, on the occasion of his retirement in September 1996. As a scientist, teacher, and advisor to the agribusiness and the government, Professor Meulenberg has made an important contribution to the development of marketing, inside and outside the domain of agriculture.

Book Brand Equity Advertising

Download or read book Brand Equity Advertising written by David A. Aaker and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-10-31 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tenth annual Advertising and Consumer Psychology Conference held in San Francisco focused on branding -- a subject generating intense interest both in academia and in the "real world." The principle theory behind these conferences is that much can be gained by joining advertising and marketing professionals with academic researchers in advertising. Professionals can gain insight into the new theories, measurement tools and empirical findings that are emerging, while academics are stimulated by the insights and experience that professionals describe and the research questions that they pose. This book consists of papers delivered by experts from academia and industry discussing issues regarding the role of advertising in the establishment and maintenance of brand equity -- making this volume of interest to advertising and marketing specialists, as well as consumer and social psychologists.

This book was released on 2018-02-19 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research topic for Frontiers in Psychology highlights some of the more relevant changes that have conditioned consumer behavior in recent years—among these, the paradigm shift in marketing is worth emphasizing. Today, the market and the companies are implementing Marketing 4.0; This new marketing approach modifies both the business rules and the channels by changing the way to dialogue, interact and relation with consumers. The present Research Topic brings together 30 studies by 76 authors who analyzed the relevance of consumer behavior changes under this new paradigm, using different theoretical and methodological frameworks. These different papers, mainly constituting original research, examine a variety of sub-topics, including online and mobile environments, value co-creation, internal marketing strategies, and diverse industries and product markets. Given this broad selection of papers, we encourage readers to draw their own conclusions about the complex phenomena of consumer behavior. Our hope is that these different perspectives will cover various gaps in the field and prompt discussion among the audience of Frontiers in Psychology.
