Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is full of illusions. Sometimes life makes us believe that things are always going to be the same despite the fact of how good or bad you are, and then all of a sudden it hits us with a sudden realization of reality where everything turns upside down. One event, one person, one sentence or even one decision can change your life forever. It shows a whole new world in front of you to which you have been blind the whole time, and that whole new perspective confuses you since you are not used to it. We are left alone and confused in that state that consumes a lot of time from our present; if not addressed properly, it will rob our joy from the future too. The story that I'm going to say is also something like this. I have learned a lot from life, and I wanted you to know that no matter how hard your situation can be, just remember that it is just one of the pages in your book and you never know what comes next. I'm Kiruthika Nagesh, and this is my story.

Book excerpt: Amisha (The Narrator) is a determined girl who always wants to follow her passion. She faces many obstacles on the way to achieve her goal. After finding a man who strives for her love, she takes a plunge to fulfill her dream with his help. But her sloppy and selfish steps clinch her as a failure. After rectifying her mistakes, she calls the shots and mounts with spunk to clear all the debris on her way. She finally proves her mom's decisions as wrong for her knack and fulfills her dream with flying colors. I went to the broken mirror in my room and stood in front of it where I could see my admirable and attractive eyes, a straight-edged nose, strawberry-colored lips, snow-colored skin tone, and coal-like long hair in different pieces of the mirror. I restively sat by managing myself not to trap into his blazing eyes. I know that the boy is trying to flirt with me. But my mother is unable to understand the boy's intention. The boy said ""I like you uh-huh-hmm...I love you. I will be with you in hard times. Will you agree to follow in my footsteps?" I screamed in my room by saying, "my dream has an expiry date, I need to accomplish it before it gets expired. But now, I just need to nod my head for my mother. My hard work went like a dead horse." She took the mic close to her lips and announced, ""The winner in 2019 is...it's none other than..."" Who is 'I' here? Who is the 'boy' here? How can a dream have an expiry date? Who announced 'what'? Did she win or lose?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Canadian Federation of University Women have undertaken as their Centennial project a biographical account of twenty noteworthy women. From a large number of vigorous and accomplished candidates a selection was made from various historical periods, from various regions of Canada, and from the various activities in which women have engaged. Each was to have significance in the development of Canadian society. It was also the wish of the C.F.U.W. that the essays should be based on original research and be written in a lively and readable style by women authors who are contributors to literary activities in Canada today. The book begins with the early pioneers of Canada in their several areas of settlement: Madame de la Tour, Mère Marie de l'Incarnation, Susanna Moodie and Catharine Parr Traill. It includes Pauline Johnson, Laure Conan, L.M. Montgomery, Emily Carr, and Mazo de la Roche who over the years helped to establish women as professional contributors to literature and art. It has members of that honourable company of women with a cause: Adelaide Hoodless, Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, and Margaret McWilliams. It brings together a number who were among the first to enter fields traditionally regarded as for men: Cora Hind, Agnes Macphail, Maude Abbott, Alice Wilson. Bibliographical references for these and other Canadian women are included. The writers are Ethel Bennett, Marie-Emmanuel Chabot, Clara Thomas, Elizabeth Loosley, Micheline Dumont-Johnson, Elizabeth Waterston, Ruth Howes, Kennethe Haig, Eleanor Harman, Doris French, Flora Burns, Jessie Scriver, Anne Montagnes, Dorothy Livesay, and Betty Jane Wylie: they too represent various parts of Canada. With its vivid pictures of people and society this book will have a wide and popular appeal: all those who are interested in Canadian biography will enjoy it, and younger readers particularly will find much to admire in the lives of these women.
