Download or read book India s Problem Krishna or Christ written by John P. Jones and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-06-13 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John P. Jones' "India's Problem, Krishna or Christ" is an interesting look at the multiculturalism of India during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. At a time when English colonialism aimed to impart Christianity on the people of India, Hinduism faced the threat of disappearing. When many Indians might have felt torn between which faith to follow, Jones describes such a conflict that is important to read for a better understanding of this tense time in history.

Book Jesus Christ A Misnomer of Lord Krishna of India

Download or read book Jesus Christ A Misnomer of Lord Krishna of India written by Ravi Prakash Arya and published by . This book was released on 2014-10-03 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book makes an humble attempt to analyze the various conflicting and contradictory views about the person of Jesus. Most of the scholarly findings were relating the legends associated with Jesus the Christ with Lord Krishna of India, others were finding Buddhist element in his teachings and character. Yet another type of studies were negating the historicity of Jesus the Christ. In view of all these conflicting and contradictory findings one gets confused and face a volley of questions as to whether Jesus really lived in India. Whether there was any person known as Jesus in first century. Was he born to a virgin or not? Was he born on Dec. 25th or some other date? Did he really start preaching at the age of 30? Was he reincarnated from Baptist John? Was he a good shepherd or cowherd? Whether he was born in Bethlehem or Nazareth. This compelling book tries to solve the Jesus riddle in the presence of the plethora of stories woven around the Jesus.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Krishna's Flute Body and passed on, as I believe, to help India on other planes and prepare her for her world mission. As a window is opened to let in the dawn, so have I opened my heart, again and again, to let in his love and be purified by his presence. I believe in the Inner Krishna. Many of this generation, alas! Are forgetful of their pilgrimage, forgetful of India's destiny. They may recover the memory if they will meditate upon him and his message. Destructive criticism has been directed, again and again, against the 'historicity' of Shri Krishna. Some have explained away Krishna's life as simply a product of the my thopaeic faculty of the primitive man striving to interpret marvels of solar phenomena I 50 attempts have been made, from time to time, to resolve the life of Jesus into a myth The author of Fathers of Jesus has, in two vol umes, tried to trace the origin of the Christ-life to solar-phenomena I The theories of the cri tics have vanished Krishna and Jesus abide. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The First Hindoo Convert: A Memoir of Krishna Pal, a Preacher of the Gospel to His Countrymen More Than Twenty Years It is a well known fact that modem Christian Missionary Societies had their origin among the Baptists of England, who formed their Society - now exulting in numerous churches and schools, in many thousands of converts, and in a larger number of translations of the Scriptures than any other missionary society, - on a very small and humble scale in 1792. Their first missionaries, - the Rev. William Carey and Dr. John Thomas, - sailed for India the following year, and there labored, with others who followed them, amidst trials and difficulties almost unprecedented, for more than seven years, before a single individual was sufficiently decided to renounce caste and put on Christ by baptism. A sketch of the Life of the first Convert now invites the attention of the reader. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Modern Hinduism: Does It Meet the Needs of India? It is our purpose about once a year to publish a number of the Envelope Series of an apologetic character, a defense of the missionary motive and work. While we hear fewer objections to foreign missions than formerly, we hear enough to warrant us in furnishing special literature on the subject. What we want is Open-minded, honest and thorough discussion on the part of those who know. Such discussion you may look for in this little quarterly from time to time. To begin with, here is the question about India. Many who have visited that country say Hindu ism is good enough for the Hindus. Now is it? That is the question. What we want is facts, and conclusions based on facts not guesses, or imaginings or longings, and certainly not mis statements or distortions, but clear, sheer reali ties. Who can and will tell us the truth? Our mind turned at once to Dr. J. P. Jones, of Madura, the well-known author of Krishna or Christ, the man who has thirty years of living and close association with the Hindus behind his judgment, no mere traveler but a citizen of India, the man who is a friend of the Hindus, and who has proved his friendship by a life of devoted service in their behalf. Hear him. And when you hear, pass the word along. This' false idea about Hinduism is in the air, and you can do a distinct service to the Kingdom and to India by giving Dr. Jones a hearing. Do you take this quarterly? If not you ought. In it the American Board prints much of its best material. We are not afraid to have you ex amine any of our recent numbers. It will not be a question of money with you (the price is only ten cents) but of taking the time to send in your subscription. If at this point we might make a suggestion, it would be in the words of the some what over-worked motto: Do it now. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work compares the Krsnavatara (Krsna in his avatara doctrines of Sankara and Ramanuja and the incarnation of Christ as represented by classical Christian orthodoxy, and draws out comparative theological and soteriological implications. It does so first by examining the epistemologies, theologies and world views of Sankara and Ramanuja, and the theology and world view of classical Christian orthodoxy, so that, second, an adequate foundation and subsequent thorough representation of avatara and incarnation might be accomplished, in order that, third, accurate comparisons may be drawn between avatara and incarnation. The result of this study is a demonstration that many of the popularly held similarities between avatara and incarnation are superficial, and that therefore careful consideration of epistemologies and ontologies should be undertaken when comparing theologies and soteriologies pertinent to avatara and incarnation.
