En el segundo bloque se exponen diferentes experiencias educativas en las que prima la innovación centrada en la inclusión. Por último, en el tercer bloque se incluyen investigaciones que abordan el tema de la inclusión educativa como eje principal. Si bien es importante impulsar investigaciones e innovaciones con la mirada puesta en la inclusión educativa, es menester compartir experiencias al respecto y formar a los futuros profesionales de la educación en esta línea con el fin de configurar la educación actual y futura como una educación inclusiva que acoja las diferencias y las valore como enriquecedoras para la formación de los futuros ciudadanos. We have performed (i) a global survey of scientists with more than 32,000 responses; (ii) an investigation of the effect of gender in millions of scientific publications; and (iii) the compilation of best-practice initiatives that address the gender gap in Mathematical, Computing, and Natural Sciences at various levels. We conclude that the gender gap is very real in science and mathematics. We present methodologies, insights, and tools that have been developed throughout the project, as well as a set of recommendations for different audiences: instructors and parents; educational institutions; scientific unions and other organizations responsible for science policy.

Sixteen case studies of socially-innovative initiatives at the neighbourhood level were carried out in nine European cities, of which ten are analysed in depth and presented here. The book compares these efforts and their results, and shows how grass-roots initiatives, alternative local movements and self-organizing urban collectives are reshaping the urban scene in dynamic, creative, innovative and empowering ways. It argues that such grass-roots initiatives are vital for generating a socially cohesive urban condition that exists alongside the official state-organized forms of urban governance. The book is thus a major contribution to socio-political literature, as it seeks to overcome the duality between community-development studies and strategies, and the solidarity-based making of a diverse society based upon the recognising and maintaining of citizenship rights.
