Book Baghelkhand Or the Tigers Lair

Download or read book Baghelkhand Or the Tigers Lair written by David E. U. Baker and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2007 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the concept of "region" and "nation" in Indian history through a long-term study of Bagelkhand - from prehistory up to 1956. It examines the ways in which the region eventually became part of the Indian nation (1947) and then the state of Madhya Pradesh (1956). The author sees region building as a process encompassing a dialogue between the region and external, often centralizing states on the one hand and migration on the other. While these two forces gave the region its distinct identity, they also paradoxically forged political, social, and economic commonalities with other regions of the country subject to similar influences. He pursues the theme of nation building from prehistory, through the centralizing Mauryan, Bupta, Mughal, British Empires to the Indian state. The book assesses the social, economic, and political impact of various colonialisms, rather than merely that of Britain, whose very difference colonialism was part of worldwide capitalism. It examines the regional aspects of power, which opposed but fell before the centralizing initiatives. Illustrated with rare visuals, this book would appeal to historians, political scientists, sociologists and anthropologists particularly those concerned with concepts like "region" and "nation."

Book The Monsters Know What They re Doing

Download or read book The Monsters Know What They re Doing written by Keith Ammann and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-10-29 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the creator of the popular blog The Monsters Know What They’re Doing comes a compilation of villainous battle plans for Dungeon Masters. In the course of a Dungeons & Dragons game, a Dungeon Master has to make one decision after another in response to player behavior—and the better the players, the more unpredictable their behavior! It’s easy for even an experienced DM to get bogged down in on-the-spot decision-making or to let combat devolve into a boring slugfest, with enemies running directly at the player characters and biting, bashing, and slashing away. In The Monsters Know What They’re Doing, Keith Ammann lightens the DM’s burden by helping you understand your monsters’ abilities and develop battle plans before your fifth edition D&D game session begins. Just as soldiers don’t whip out their field manuals for the first time when they’re already under fire, a DM shouldn’t wait until the PCs have just encountered a dozen bullywugs to figure out how they advance, fight, and retreat. Easy to read and apply, The Monsters Know What They're Doing is essential reading for every DM.

Book The Adventures of Emma Danger

Download or read book The Adventures of Emma Danger written by Bryan Paijit and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-09-23 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We call you Emma Danger for two reasons, (1) because we want people to know that you are not someone to be seen as a victim and (2) because people view something as dangerous because they don't understand how it works. We want you to look at a situation and rather than let your fears determine your actions, figure out how the thing that is fearful works. Once you understand the situation, you will know how to mitigate the risks. Then it will become less dangerous and less fearful. It's okay to be afraid, but it's not okay to let fear control you. Fear isn't something that you should be afraid of. Fear just helps you identify your next achievement.
