Book Performing a Christian Life

Download or read book Performing a Christian Life written by Thomas D. Kennedy and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-11-13 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We want to live good lives, but determining what a good life is isn't easy, especially if we want the lives we lead to be ours, rather than somebody else's. Tom Kennedy helps us see why it is hard to find our way when it comes to living well and what we can do about that. Finding our way requires knowing who we are, understanding ourselves, and Christians, because of their experience with God, will understand themselves differently than others in at least some ways. Kennedy explores that understanding and discovers that Christian encounters with God lead to beliefs about God, human nature, forgiveness, values, and loving well that have important implications for what we do and feel, for how we should live. In clear and familiar language, and with probing questions, he helps us think more carefully, and deeply, about our identities and what it should look like for us to live well.

This is happening because of a transformation and renewal of our minds. We are becoming more freely and spiritually open to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Praise dance ministries are inclusive to the church services that are causing such a sweep across the nation globally. But on the other hand, we have all had some setbacks that are unexplainable, and we ask the question “Why?” This has caused our road in life to be a struggle and challenge to bondages unknown. Explore some possibilities that will bring hope and change. The inability to adapt to change is the demonstration of a lack of faith. The ability to adapt to change is the demonstration of faith. Dancing in the Spirit for the Twenty-First Century is setting the foundational standard in this millennium to enhance the right kind of spirit that God can use in our dancing and daily lives. This book teaches us how our character and commitment will develop by staying, standing, and being found faithful to the Lord for spiritual growth. If you have a desire or if you’re seeking how to get to the next level, the answers are in this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians believe that religion began when God created human beings and revealed himself to them. But is there scholarly evidence for this belief? In the nineteenth century academic world a stormy debate took shape over the origin of religion. Scholars explored the ancient languages of mythology and then considered evolutionary anthropology. A dominant view emerged that religion began with animism -- the reverent honoring of spirits -- and from there evolved into higher forms, from polytheism on to monotheism. However, scholars Andrew Lang and Wilhem Schmidt contended there were cultures throughout the world -- pygmy people in Africa and Asia, certain Australian Aboriginal groups and Native American tribes -- that originated as monotheistic, acknowledging the existence of one supreme God who created the world and holds people accountable for living morally upright lives. The debate wore on, and Schmidt, a member of the Catholic order and a priest, was accused (without evidence) of letting his faith interpret the facts. By the mid-twentieth century a silent consensus formed among scholars not to discuss the origin and evolution of religion any further. The discoveries of Lang and Schmidt have since been largely ignored. However, the evidence on which these scholars based their conclusion of monotheism is still out there. In the Beginning God attempts to educate Christians about the debate on this topic, the facts that were accepted and those that were ignored, and the use to which Christians can put all of this material in making a case for the truth of Christianity.

Download or read book The Dancer and the Dance written by Michael Wasserman and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-06-02 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can a seeker also be a skeptic? Can one believe without renouncing the responsibility to doubt? These eight essays argue that the answer is yes. They make the case that the most authentic way to search for meaning today is not to suppress our skepticism but to intensify it, not to give up our doubts but to sharpen them. In a bitterly-polarized world, these essays offer a middle way. They insist that we need not choose between religious searching and critical thinking. At the far side of skepticism, the two paths converge.

Download or read book Dancing with God written by Karen Baker-Fletcher and published by Chalice Press. This book was released on 2006-12-01 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dancing With God is an exploration of the divine gifts of courage and grace in the face of evil. Moreover, it is a doctrine of God as the source of that courage. Baker-Fletcher presents an understanding of the work of the Trinity with regard to the problem of crucifixion, a metaphor she uses for unnecessary violence. She develops a process of relational, womanist theology that considers the empathetic omnipresence of God in the midst of unnecessary suffering and the healing power of God in movement of the Holy Spirit. She engages the contributions of a diversity of theologians like Paul Tillich, Karl Barth, Gordon Kaufman, John Cobb, Jr., Majorie Suchocki, Charles Hartshorne, Andrew Sung Park, and Katie Cannon in her discussion of the dance of the Trinity in creation, and the problem of sin, evil, and suffering. Through creative works like that of Alice Walker's The Color Purple and journalist Joyce King's account of the James Byrd, Jr. murder in Jasper County, Texas, Baker-Fletcher reveals the healing, encouraging power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of survivors of unnecessary violence.

Four distinct stories collide in great evangelism: God’s story, our story, the story of our friends and the story of our culture. The book expounds them all, encouraging us to learn and tell well the first two and listen and react well to the others. Phil Knox punctuates his book with engaging accounts of success and failure. Book A Dance Through All Eternity

Download or read book A Dance Through All Eternity written by Stephen Roth and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Call it the fear of the unknown, the fear of missing out, or the fear of failing-everyone in some way views the concept in time as daunting, restricting, or perhaps with some curiosity. Trending television shows such as DC Legends of Tomorrow, Flash, along with older ones like Lost and Doctor Who, promote the deconstruction of time and how it exists in the minuscule view humans have. A common experience one has is when they are young time seems to appear never-ending; however, as they get older, time seems to fly by. When did time, which once seemed to hold all life's promises, turn into cruel master, stealing bits of us until we are nothing but a mere memory of others? Is man nothing but dust in the wind, or mere puppets, actors on the stage of time? Is there something more? There is nothing left to ponder as this book spells out the answers everyone needs to hear. Allow yourself to be introduced to the eternal dance. It is in the eternal dance between a Father, his Son, and the Spirit that mankind can find their purpose and meaning in life. Join in the setting of the stage, meet the dancers, put on your dancing shoes, and learn the steps until you too are dancing in time.
