Book In Nature s Realm Classic Reprint

Download or read book In Nature s Realm Classic Reprint written by Charles Conrad Abbott and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-04 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from In Nature's Realm My days - Elysian days to me - afield or afloat, were followed by nights no less delightful, when, at my desk, I again lived my happy hours. My entertainment, therefore, has been two-fold, and so I am moved to hope that the satisfaction of the reader who turns these pages to the light will at least be single-fold. Here, however, a word of caution. No book concerning Nature is in any sense a mirror reflecting every detail. The many subtle charms the rambler recognizes, when under the bright blue sky, are not brought home with him. He cannot pierce with a pencil-point many an impression as you may pin a butterfly. Here, too, let me call attention to the danger of being so far off our guard that confusion arises from a multiplicity of objects; all of commanding interest. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Nature's Realm, Vol. 2: January, 1891 But the St. Lawrence sometimes causes ter rible trouble when the waters get jammed by ice. Only a few years ago it almost drowned out Montreal and did millions of dollars' worth of damage. The flood was not caused by rain, but by an ice gorge and the peculiar character of the river at Montreal. That city is only a mile below the rapids of Lachine, and the ice in spring time is driven down the rapids at the rate of millions of tons per hour. Just below the rapids the large island of St. Helens and the small one called Isle Ronde bar the passage of the ice, and it often gets gorged in the nar row channel between Isle Ronde and the north ern shore. The last time Montreal was inun dated by the obstructed waters of the St. Law rence, the ice in the narrow channel was esti mated to be nearly a hundred feet in thickness. If some means are not adopted for blowing up the ice gorge with dynamite when it suddenly Iorms owing to a rapid breaking up of the ice above the Lachine Rapids, Montreal may some day be ruined. Book Wild Nature s Ways Classic Reprint

Download or read book Wild Nature s Ways Classic Reprint written by R. Kearton and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-20 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Wild Nature's Ways Job said, Speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee, and no man who has ever honestly taken this advice to heart is in a position to gainsay its truth. To learn to appreciate the beauties of the world in which we live is a great victory. It establishes within us a never-failing source of pleasure, and enhances the value of existence a thousandfold. I would not exchange the every day joys of a healthy observant ploughman for the worrying wealth and cares of a millionaire. The idea that to be rich in gold is to be happy is a dying, vulgar fallacy. Men are coming to know that there are greater possessions than those which can be measured by the surveyor's chain or locked in iron safes. A love of Nature is one of them, and it has the unspeakably good quality of endurance. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Divine Science and Healing Classic Reprint

Download or read book Divine Science and Healing Classic Reprint written by Malinda E. Cramer and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-09 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Divine Science and Healing As the light-house throws its beams to guide the mari ner through trackless waters, so upon the world's waste, this book is sent out to warn the wayfarer from time and place, and to guide him into the secure peace and rest of Infinite Love. May this chart of Divine realization of Truth and illumination guide all pilgrims on the path of life into the harbor of Infinite Being. As the light shining from the light-house warns from danger and lights the way into safe harbor, so the Truth set forth in this book of lessons will be seen to reveal what the true light is That lighteth every man that cometh into the world which makes clear the way to Christ consciousness. The purpose oi this book is to teach the principle of Unity, which alone makes clear the true relation existing between humanity and God, and the purpose of God mani festing in humanity; to point out the direct and sure way of safety and rest. May the contents of this book illumine those who study it, with a knowledge of Truth which to know makes free, and enable them to demonstrate health, success and happiness. So will it be. Natural science deals with effects in Nature's realm, and treats of the relation of things to things. Its theory is, that various and general results proceed from particular causes, which causes are themselves results. The universal Law of Creation, or Science of Expression, as taught and strictly adhered to in Divine Science is as essential to a perfect understanding of the detail of Science as is the Statement of Being essential to its perfect solution and demonstration. To understand the height and depth and breadth of Truth expressed in these pages, it is essential that the student place him or herself at one with Infinite Omni present Spirit, and then know that the teaching has been formulated from the consciousness and realization of this oneness. A consciousness of the way creative power expresses itself in creation is also a knowledge of the power expressed in the Spoken Word; of how the Word becomes flesh and dwells among us and is full of grace and truth. He is one of the very few composers whose works entered the international mainstream during his own lifetime, and some of them have remained there ever since. The pieces that historically define his international reputation, however, represent only a small fraction of what he actually composed. They comprise just one facet of his complex and remarkably rich artistic personality. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Wanderer: And Other Poems Of manhood's stronger years, still everywhere I stray, my thoughts seem like the waves to be, As I had drunk the waters' Spirit there, Like him who sung the ocean's majesty, The bard of nature's realm, or earth, or heaven, or sea. His song I echo now to voiceless thrills, As traveler on every ocean's brink In storm or calm, its finished fitness fills With wonder at the mind, whose power could link Such thoughts in words as hushed the world to think! Even they return to gaze upon the deep, Who from the wreck-strewn shore were won't to shrink, When they have learned the lay, sung to the sweep Of his majestic soul o'er seas in rage or sleep.
