Book IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10 2 0 Reporting on IMS

Download or read book IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10 2 0 Reporting on IMS written by Richard Tran and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The IBM IMS database stores data using a hierarchical model that differs from the relational databases like IBM DB2. A typical IMS database stores the data using blocks called segments and each segment can contain several pieces of data called fields. Most organizations have their operational databases stored in the IMS databases; now they can use IBM Cognos to make informed decisions over the IMS database. This IBM Redpaper provides guidance for consuming IMS databases through the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence tool. It supplements the information provided by the IBM Redbooks publication IMS Integration and Connectivity Across the Enterprise, SG24-8174." --

Book IBM IMS Solutions for Automating Database Management

Download or read book IBM IMS Solutions for Automating Database Management written by Paolo Bruni and published by IBM Redbooks. This book was released on 2014-12-09 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last few years, IBM® IMSTM and IMS tools have been modernizing the interfaces to IMS and the IMS tools to bring them more in line with the current interface designs. As the mainframe software products are becoming more integrated with the Windows and mobile environments, a common approach to interfaces is becoming more relevant. The traditional 3270 interface with ISPF as the main interface is no longer the only way to do some of these processes. There is also a need to provide more of a common looking interface so the tools do not have a product-specific interface. This allows more cross product integration. Eclipse and web-based interfaces being used in a development environment, tooling using those environments provides productivity improvements in that the interfaces are common and familiar. IMS and IMS tools developers are making use of those environments to provide tooling that will perform some of the standard DBA functions. This book will take some selected processes and show how this new tooling can be used. This will provide some productivity improvements and also provide a more familiar environment for new generations DBAs. Some of the functions normally done by DBA or console operators can now be done in this eclipse-based environment by the application developers. This means that the need to request these services from others can be eliminated. This IBM Redbooks® publication examines specific IMS DBA processes and highlights the new IMS and IMS tools features, which show an alternative way to accomplish those processes. Each chapter highlights a different area of the DBA processes like: PSB creation Starting/stopping a database in an IMS system Recovering a database Cloning a set of databases

Book End to end Integration with IBM Sterling B2B Integration and Managed File Transfer solutions

Download or read book End to end Integration with IBM Sterling B2B Integration and Managed File Transfer solutions written by James Ballentine and published by IBM Redbooks. This book was released on 2012-07-21 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Across numerous vertical industries, enterprises are challenged to improve processing efficiency as transactions flow from their business communities to their internal systems and vice versa, simplify management and expansion of the external communities, accommodate customer and supplier preferences, govern the flow of information, enforce policy and standards, and protect sensitive information. Throughout this process, external partners must be on-boarded and off-boarded, information must flow across multiple communications infrastructures, and data must be mapped and transformed for consumption across multiple applications. Some transactions require synchronous or real-time processing while others are of a more periodic nature. For some classes of customer or supplier, the enterprise might prefer a locally-managed, on-premise solution. For some types of communities (often small businesses), an as-a-Service solution might be the best option. Many large enterprises combine the on-premise and as-a-Service approach to serve different categories of business partners (customers or suppliers). This IBM® Redbooks® publication focuses on solutions for end-to-end integration in complex value chains and presents several end-to-end common integration scenarios with IBM Sterling and IBM WebSphere® portfolios. We believe that this publication will be a reference for IT Specialists and IT Architects implementing an integration solution architecture involving IBM Sterling and IBM WebSphere portfolios.

Book IBM Z Integration Guide for Hybrid Cloud

Download or read book IBM Z Integration Guide for Hybrid Cloud written by Nigel Williams and published by IBM Redbooks. This book was released on 2020-04-11 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, organizations are responding to market demands and regulatory requirements faster than ever by extending their applications and data to new digital applications. This drive to deliver new functions at speed has paved the way for a huge growth in cloud-native applications, hosted in both public and private cloud infrastructures. Leading organizations are now exploiting the best of both worlds by combining their traditional enterprise IT with cloud. This hybrid cloud approach places new requirements on the integration architectures needed to bring these two worlds together. One of the largest providers of application logic and data services in enterprises today is IBM Z, making it a critical service provider in a hybrid cloud architecture. The primary goal of this IBM Redpaper publication is to help IT architects choose between the different application integration architectures that can be used for hybrid integration with IBM Z, including REST APIs, messaging, and event streams.

Book IMS Connectivity in an On Demand Environment

The integration and combination of these products allows for organizations to switch between protocols internally, allowing for diversity across business needs while still positioning the organization to easily move files outside their secured intra-enterprise network through an edge server to the external trading partner regardless of what protocol the external trading partner is using. This book is intended for organizations that find themselves wanting to trade data in a secure, reliable, and auditable way across both intra-enterprise and multi-enterprise protocols.

Book IMS Performance and Tuning Guide

Download or read book IMS Performance and Tuning Guide written by Jouko Jantti and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This IBM Redbooks publication provides IMS performance monitoring and tuning information. This book differs from previous IMS performance and tuning IBM Redbooks in that there is less emphasis on the internal workings of IMS and more information about why and how certain options can affect the performance of IMS. Most of the information in the previous book IMS Version 7 Performance Monitoring and Tuning Update, SG24-6404, is still valid, and in most cases, continues to be valid in any future versions of IMS. This book is not an update or rewrite but instead attempts to be more of a guide than a reference. As such, the team gathered experiences and data from actual production environments as well as from IBM benchmarks and solicited input from experts in as many areas as possible. You should be able to find valuable new information and perhaps validate things you might have questioned. Hardware and software characteristics are constantly changing, but hopefully the information that you find here provides a basis to help you react to change and to keep your IMS running efficiently. In this book, we introduce methods and tools for monitoring and tuning IMS systems, and in addition to IMS TM and DB system-wide performance considerations, we dedicate separate chapters for application considerations, IMS and DB2 interoperability, the Parallel Sysplex environment, and On Demand considerations.
