Book Improved Prediction of Drift Forces and Moment

Download or read book Improved Prediction of Drift Forces and Moment written by Young S. Hong and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A three-dimensional method is developed to improve the computation of the drift force and moment for small-waterplane-area, twin-hull (SWATH) and surface ships in oblique waves with zero forward speed. Numerical results have been computed for three ships: SWATH 6A, Stretched SSP, and MCM experiment. For MCM 5371, the results of two- and three- dimensional methods are almost identical to each other and these results show good agreement with experiment when the wavelength ratio is not too small. Even though there are no test data available for SWATH 6A, the application of three dimensional theory is likely to improve the results of drift force and moment for SWATH ships. (Author).

Book Marine Simulation and Ship Manoeuvrability

Download or read book Marine Simulation and Ship Manoeuvrability written by M.S. Chislett and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-10-01 with total page 660 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Real-time, interactive ship simulators limped onto the scene, in the wake of flight simulators, some years ago. The maritime industries have a long history of conservatism, but this is now changing rapidly. The information age has also swept over ships and shipping, and has been taken to heart to such an extent that, for example, flight simulators now cooperate with ship simulators and import useful new concepts and methodologies. The more than 50 papers contained in this book show what and why. Although traditionally conservative, the marine world is also traditionally international and this has not changed. The papers in the book are by leading authors from all over the world and provide a detailed snap-shot of the rapidly advancing state-of-the-art, together with pointers to the future. The overall theme of MARSIM '96 and therefore also of this book is: Vessel manouevrability and marine simulation research, training and assessment, and includes original papers on topics such as bridge resource management, distant learning and simulators coupled via The Internet, virtual reality, neural networks, rudder-propeller hydrodynamics, prime mover models, squat in shallow water, and many more.
