The data was gathered through questioners from 266 employees working in Petroleum sector of Pakistan. The results showed that employee performance is affected by career development and reward. This research targeted those different factors that regulate the employee performance in Petroleum sector of Pakistan. Among the factors that are scrutinized are work life balance, career development and reward and their relation was seen with the employee performance in the Petroleum sector of Pakistan. The data was collected through survey technique from the sample size of 300 respondents and the convenient sampling was used as the respondents are known to be the employees of Petroleum organizations of Rawalpindi and Islamabad region. Correlation and regression analysis was used to analyze the factors that affect the employee performance in this sector. Under this study it was proved that there is insignificant negative relationship between work life balance and employee performance because Pakistan is developing country so poverty level is also significant here and one other thing is large family size that is why reward, career development and salary is a major indicator for employee performance in the Pakistan, many employees ignore work overload in front of reasonable salary because they are handling large family. Work life conflict is not big issue in this country because of joint family system. Family member share the burden of other members so employee feel relax at work place and they perform better while there is positive relationship of career development, and reward with employee performance.

It is the state of equilibrium where any person is able to get satisfies with personal and professional life. Balancing time with parents, spouse, children, friends, relatives, colleagues, supervisors and subordinates is the biggest challenge to be achieved. The empirical study gives the idea of work life balance performed in past. Work life balance has become a challenge throughout the world. The study will identify the assessment of employees about their organization from the work life balance prospective and how it is practiced at their workplace. This will also measure the level of job satisfaction of employees of the PIA in relation to their socio-economic factors. From previous studies conducted on this topic it is observed that it common how employees the challenges of how to balance their work life and personal life, despite the generally positive desire related to work life balance. Without balance in working life and personal life, it is very difficult to maintain working efficiency and control the outcomes of personal and professional life and thus in order to be satisfied, an individual must create a balance between the two.The research aims at understanding how work life balance positively impacts the personal and professional efficiency of the employees. The objective of this research is to identify the demographic profile of employees, who are working in Airline industry, determine the factors affects work-life balance on the employees of Airline industry. A research study is conducted on the employees of the largest organization of Pakistan, namely PIAC.

Book excerpt: Work-life balance is considered as the balance between roles and responsibilities of work and family. The researcher presumes that work-life imbalance has increased after the concept of “breaking news” in the media industry. This study is therefore designed to investigate the influence of work-life balance (supportive family, working condition and time inflexibility) on employee performance with the mediating role of psychological wellbeing in the media industry of Pakistan. For that purpose, a questionnaire was adopted to collect the data from 213 employees of the selected media houses/organizations of Pakistan. Descriptive and inferential statistics were performed by using SPSS and AMOS (SEM). The results indicate that work-life balance is positively associated with employee performance whereas: psychological wellbeing partially mediates their relationship. The outcomes of this study will provide insights to the policymakers of the media industry in Pakistan. They are furthermore recommended to take the respective initiatives and build up the policies to strengthen the work-life balance practices and employee psychological wellbeing which will ultimately improve employee performance.

Book excerpt: This study intends to inspect, break down and clarify the impact of Career Planning, Career Advancement and Mentoring on performance of academic staff simultaneously and partially at Govt. business institutes in Karachi. The study found out that career planning had a significant influence on academic staff performance in government universities of Pakistan. A majority of academic staff were found to have individual career plans while universities. Further, the universities under study were found to have career development plans for their academic staff. Mentoring was found to have no significant influence on academic staff performance in government universities of Pakistan. The study established that the universities under study did not have proper performance appraisal systems that determined attainment of goals. Further, the universities had well established training plans for their academic staff. Career advancement had significant influence on academic staff performance in government universities of Pakistan. The study found out that career advancement in the universities under study was based on academic staff competencies. Further, the universities had career progression guidelines which stipulated conditions for promotion. The study recommends that universities should provide adequate mentoring services to its academic staff and develop career development plans for their academic staff.

Employees obviously work for the organization for monetary benefits but these monetary compensations and rewards are not the sole requirement of all employees. Some of them need salary increment and bonuses to get themselves motivated while others need recognition and non-monetary benefits. The study was aimed to discuss how the extrinsic and intrinsic motivation can hinder or increase the motivation level of employees. Several motivational theories have also been discussed in this paper that helps in better understanding of why and how employees are motivated. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is said to have significant impact on employee's performance. Our study examined 60 female and 143 male respondents (n=203) of banking sector to study the effects of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on employee's performance. There was a positive relationship of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of employees with their performance. With the increase in intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, employee's performance tends to increase as well. We also have discussed some of the future directions and recommendations so that it can help future researchers to study the other constructs that can affect employee's performance.

Furthermore, the study explores the employees job performance with four demographic variables, resulting that male employees are high performer vis-à-vis their female counterparts. The implications and limitations are also discussed at the end of the paper.

Also, the absence of work-life balance has an adverse effect on employee performance in many respects. Thus, it is essential to understand the impact of work-life balance on employee performance. Consequently, this study will analyze the impact of work-life balance on employee performance. Furthermore, this research will elaborate on the relationship between work-life balance and employee performance as well. Accordingly, a quantitative study is conducted by collecting primary data through a self-administered questionnaire. The secondary data for the study were collected through books, journals, and articles. Moreover, this study comprised a sample size of 84 employees of a leading shipping company in Sri Lanka. The sampling technique was convenient sampling. Data analysis comprised of both inferential and descriptive statistics. Descriptive statistics included frequencies, means, and standard deviations. When it comes to Inferential statistics, the impact of work-life balance on employee performance was analyzed using simple linear regression analysis by using the SPSS tool. Based on the correlation analysis, it was revealed that there is a strong positive relationship between work-life balance and employee performance. Then the regression analysis confirmed that there is a significant impact of work-life balance on employee performance. Thus, based on these research findings, the theoretical and managerial implications and directions for future research and at last, the limitations of the current research are discussed.
