In Nigeria, real estate is regarded as one of the most important and rapidly developing assets and means of investment security with the Nigeria Real Estate market/ sector being adjudged one of the most viable and investors interests in Africa, it plays a major role in the GDP of the country. Likewise, the real estate industry helps in creating employment, lessening poverty, and providing shelter to families and promoting distribution of income in to the economy. This industry, like any other industry is constantly evolving and the drivers for this sector range from the profitability to the changing face of building space complimented by the uncertainties encircling the sector. Book Management and Economic Development in sub Saharan Africa

Download or read book Management and Economic Development in sub Saharan Africa written by John O. Okpara and published by Adonis & Abbey Publishers Ltd. This book was released on 2007-04-20 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the major challenges facing Sub-Saharan African organizations today is how to effectively manage their resources. Though the importance of effective management of organizational resources is generally acknowledged, published research on the theme is disappointingly scarce. This book hopes to contribute in filling the lacuna. Contributors to the volume, which is the first in a book series from African Journal of Business and Economic Research (AJBER), a peer-reviewed, triennial publication, discuss various management issues in sub-Saharan Africa such as employee motivation, job satisfaction, compensation, organizational commitment, ethics, social responsibility and export management and the interplay between these and the effective management of an organization's resources. They argue that effective management of organizational resources - whether in the public or private sector - promotes efficiency, which in turn enhances the organization's ability to compete. The contributors also offer valuable insights into why many organizations in sub-Saharan Africa are inefficiently managed and offer desiderata for overcoming such challenges.

A recent development that has undoubtedly compounded the challenges that African entrepreneurs face and further impede the economic growth impact is Covid-19. This pandemic has exerted severe damage to economies and businesses globally. For the African setting, the implications of Covid-19 on businesses and individuals would be enormous, as African societies are rarely equipped to absorb unexpected shocks of this magnitude as the social and welfare schemes are far below requirements. This book illuminates entrepreneurship in the African setting, focusing on the prospects, challenges, and the post-Covid-19 pandemic future. It aims to offer a rich repository of information on strategies and techniques for sustaining entrepreneurial activities that can enrich African nations and will be of relevance to academics, researchers, advanced students, entrepreneurs, governments, and government agencies who are interested in understanding issues relating to entrepreneurship development within the African continent.

Book Implication of Big push theory on Nigerian economic development

Download or read book Implication of Big push theory on Nigerian economic development written by Erhunse Confidence and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2020-02-19 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Economics - Economic Cycle and Growth, grade: 4, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (Social Sciences), language: English, abstract: This paper examined the implication of Big-Push theory on Nigerian economic development. The theory provided an explanation of how developing countries can industrialize through broad-based investment and coordination. The paper looked at the meaning of Big-Push theory, assumptions and its implication on Nigeria economic development. If the need for a Big Push to survive in an economy that is open to international trade and capital movements, or if openness to trade and capital movements is sufficient to overcome all poverty traps, these questions have daunted development economics since its inception. The theory of the big push asserts that underdeveloped countries require large amounts of investments to come out of the problem of backwardness and launch policies for economic development. The logic behind this theory is that a programme of “bit-by-bit” investment will not have much impact on the process of growth and will only lead to a dissipation of resources. Policies designed to encourage the development of the Nigerian economy will need to be guided by the big-push theory.
