Book Deterministic Analysis of the Effects of Sensor Errors on Strapped Down INS Performance

Download or read book Deterministic Analysis of the Effects of Sensor Errors on Strapped Down INS Performance written by Richard H. Reynolds and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The operation of a strapped-down inertial navigation system in a high dynamic environment was simulated. Its performance was assessed using a laser gyro and a quartz-flexure accelerometer as the sensors. Using deterministic values for the sensor errors, the effects of the sensor errors on the INS performance was assessed. Emphasis is placed on the effects that the sensor errors have on the INS errors in a high dynamic environment. Structural mode effects on INS performance are also evaluated. Following this an analysis of the sensitivity of the INS errors in position and velocity to each inertial sensor is determined. Using this sensitivity analysis, the sensor parameters required to obtain a performance specification of

This book was released on 1999-01-21 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With GPS and INS hardware becoming ever smaller and less expensive, innovative opportunities for commercial navigation systems are everywhereÑand continue to arise. Integrated GPS/INS systems have some real advantages, in terms of output rate, reliability, and accuracy. The Global Positioning System and Inertial Navigation is the first-ever reference to provide engineers and scientists with a detailed, top-to-bottom look at GPS and INS in a single volume. This in-depth text provides navigation system designers comprehensive and accurate coverage of such topics as coordinate frames and transformations, Kalman filtering techniques, navigation system performance analysis, GPS receiver ephemeris and pseudo-range processing, differential GPS, carrier phase processing, and attitude determination. Extensively cross-referenced to the literature on advanced navigation system design, this superb engineering reference is ideal for navigation systems designers, analysts, and project managers.

Download or read book Autonomous Robot Vehicles written by Ingemar J. Cox and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Autonomous robot vehicles are vehicles capable of intelligent motion and action without requiring either a guide or teleoperator control. The recent surge of interest in this subject will grow even grow further as their potential applications increase. Autonomous vehicles are currently being studied for use as reconnaissance/exploratory vehicles for planetary exploration, undersea, land and air environments, remote repair and maintenance, material handling systems for offices and factories, and even intelligent wheelchairs for the disabled. This reference is the first to deal directly with the unique and fundamental problems and recent progress associated with autonomous vehicles. The editors have assembled and combined significant material from a multitude of sources, and, in effect, now conviniently provide a coherent organization to a previously scattered and ill-defined field.

Book An Investigation of Noise and Bias Effects on Doppler inertial Navigation System Accuracy

Download or read book An Investigation of Noise and Bias Effects on Doppler inertial Navigation System Accuracy written by Jack Carson Snead and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical investigation is performed to determine and compare the performances of four second-order and third-order Doppler-inertial navigation system configurations when subjected to sensor errors. This is done by determining the steady-state rms velocity output error due to noise and bias inputs for the gyro and Doppler radar and by determining the characteristics of the transient error in velocity due to step inputs of accelerometer, gyro, and Doppler bias. Simulation of the system error models in block diagram form is accomplished by Midas programming of a digital computer. The noise analysis simulation is based on the assumption that the random process is ergodic and representable by an exponential autocorrelation function. The results indicate that system performance is highly dependent upon the manner of utilizing the mixed Doppler-inertial velocity information in feedback loops and upon the dynamic response characteristics required of the system. Midas digital simulation was found to be a useful analytical tool for studies of this nature. (Author).
