Book GOBLIN TALES OF LANCASHIRE 26 illustrated tales about the goblins fairies elves pixies and ghosts of Lancashire

Download or read book GOBLIN TALES OF LANCASHIRE 26 illustrated tales about the goblins fairies elves pixies and ghosts of Lancashire written by Anon E. Mouse and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2018-09-13 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Herein are 26 illustrated tales about the goblins, fairies, elves, pixies, and ghosts of Lancashire for children. As you can see this book is not only about goblins but rather about the many beings which inhabit the lands of the Fairy Kingdom. Herein you will find stories like: * The White Dobbie * The Skriker, or Shrieker * The Unbidden Guest * The Fairy's Spade * The King Of The Fairies * The Captured Fairies * The Pillion Lady * The Fairy Funeral * The Silver Token * The Rescue Of Moonbeam; plus many, many more. But are goblins really as bad as they’ve been made out to be? Over the years, we have been told to think of Goblins as the most undesirable members of the Fairy kingdom. Well, if all the stories we read are only about the bad, or evil, Goblins, then that is likely to sway our opinion. It reminds me of the old adage, “The victorious in battle, get to write the world’s history.” In times well past, it is easy to understand how the unlettered peasant could people desolate areas with beings of another world; either the bleak fells, the deep and gloomy gorges, the wild cloughs, the desolate moorland wastes; or the salt marshes where the breeze-bent and mysterious-looking trees waved their spectral boughs in the wind; the dark pools fringed with reeds, amid which the 'Peg-o'-Lantron' flickered and danced, and over which came the hollow cry of the bittern and the child-like plaint of the plover; and the dreary glens, dark lakes, and long stretches of sand of the north and west. To them the forest was a place of solemn, Rembrandt-esque gloom, where Druids erst heard victims groan, the lonely fir-crowned pikes, and the mist-shrouded mountains, would seem fitting homes for the dread shapes whose spite ended itself in the misfortunes and misery of humanity. Pregnant with mystery to such a mind would be the huge fells, with their shifting 'neetcaps' of cloud, the towering bluffs, the swampy moors, and trackless morasses, across which the setting sun cast floods of blood-red light; and irresistible would be the influence of such scenery upon the imagination of lonely traveler riding, or walking, between villages and towns at night, with a feeling that he was surrounded by the supernatural. So sit back with a steamy beverage and be prepared to be entertained for many-an-hour. 10% of the net sale will be donated to charities by the publisher. ============== KEYWORDS/TAGS: Goblins of Lancashire, fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, childrens stories, bygone era, fairydom, ethereal, fairy land, classic stories, children’s bedtime stories, happy place, happiness, elf, elves, pixie, piskie, supernatural, Skriker, Unbidden, Guest, Fairy's Spade, King Of The Fairies, Mother And Child, Spectral Cat, Captured Fairies, Pillion Lady, Fairy Funeral, Chivalrous Devil, Enchanted Fisherman, Sands Of Cocker, Silver Token, Headless Woman, Rescue Of Moonbeam, sun, moon, White Dobbie, Little Man's Gift, Satan's Supper, Earthenware Goose, Phantom Of The Fell, Allhallow's Night, Christmas-Eve Vigil, Crier Of Claife, Demon Of The Oak, Black Cock, Invisible Burden

This book was released on 2005 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This giant, gorgeously illustrated encyclopedia documents the lives of elves, goblins, hobgoblins, gnomes, imps, pixies, and sprites with whimsy and wonder. The most extensive volume on the various types of little creatures and fairyfolk, The Complete Encyclopedia of Elves, Goblins and Other Little Creatures illustrates each unique species with charming, luminous, detailed drawings, and includes the folklore and fairy tales collected through extensive research. The first half of this volume is devoted to the various species of elves, a species that has existed since the dawn of time. These creatures flourish in both the daytime and the nighttime, undoubtedly the most complex and mysterious species of the fairy world. Some of them are well-known like Sylphs, Selkies and Will-o'-the-Wisps, while other more obscure elves are revealed here for the first time. The second half leads us through a vast variety of the invisible and sometimes frightening creatures who haunt hollow and attic, forest and ocean. If you already knew about Goblins, Gnomes, Sprites, Imps, and Brownies, this book helps you discover dozens of regional and local varieties of magical creatures as well--some of them can even be found in your own attic or garden! As a result of twenty years of patient research, the author, Pierre Dubois, has created portraits of hundreds of species. For each one, he wrote a tale starting from authentic anecdotes, spiced with spirited humour. An identification sheet presents the appearance of each variety, its morals, manners, and habits; its food and clothing; and the places and countries where they might be found. The illustrations of Roland Sabatier portray each strange and wonderful creature and the marvels and mysteries of the habitats they live in. An excellent book for a family, this encyclopedia will delight people of all ages--and all sizes. AUTHORS Pierre Dubois was born in 1945 in the Ardennes region of France. He expresses his love of the fantastic through television; he is a host on France 3 Bretagne and a scenario writer of teleplays. It is everywhere and can be found in every corner of the world, under every mushroom un every burrow and in every tree with a crack in its trunk, but especially in woodland, forests and glades. They also make their homes on wooded hill sides or beside tinkling streams. In the dead of night, when the moon is full and it’s human inhabitants are visiting Dreamland, they venture forth from their dwellings and can be found dancing in the fairy circle or visiting the households of poor, but kind and deserving folk. Whatever they are doing, they will sing and dance their way through the night, but at the first hint of dawn, will scurry back to their hidden homes as fast as their legs, or wings, will take them. So, if in the morning when you awake, don’t be surprised if you can only find one shoe, or if your towel has small grubby hand prints, or even if the kitchen utensils are all mixed up. Just smile and know that the little people visited last night. This volume is sure to keep you and your young ones enchanted for hours, if not because of the quantity, then their quality. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a sequel to “Princess White Flame” and is a children’s story about a curse placed on Princess White Flame of the Fire Fairies and how it was lifted. OF all the fairy countries in the world none is more wonderful or beautiful than the country where the Fire Fairies live. Into that land no fairies of the earth, or air, or water dare venture. They would be seared, or changed to ash or vapor. In the very heart of the Fire Country stands the palace of King Red Flame, the gleaming flame-coloured palace, the Palace of Burning Coals. Around it lies a wonderful garden, where paths wind away among great fields of fire lilies, and flame roses lift their heads, and the tall shining trees rustle in the wind with a sound like the whispering of the fire on the hearth. Here in this glowing country the good and happy fairies work and play, and serve their king as all good fairies should. But not all fairies in this land are good and happy. Beyond the glow of the roses and the lilies, beyond all sight of the glimmering trees, there lies another part of the country where the evil fairies live. Here are great Plains of Ash, and huge Caverns of Soot, and stretches of gloom in which the Shadow Witch comes and goes. Here the Imps of Darkness lurk, Dragons crouch, and Wizards dwell. Perhaps sometimes when you have looked into the Fireplace you have seen those dismal plains and darksome valleys. They lie away from the heart of the Fire, at the side of the Hearth, and between the flames and the heaps of ashes. In this story you will hear tell of Prince Radiance, and Princess White Flame who lived in the Fire Country and of many strange and wonderful adventures on which they journeyed on to reach, at last, a never-ending happiness.
