Book Iggy Peck Architect

Download or read book Iggy Peck Architect written by Andrea Beaty and published by Abrams. This book was released on 2016-02-01 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both parents and children will love Iggy Peck, Architect, a fun-filled, inspiring, colorful New York Times bestselling picture book, from author Andrea Beaty and illustrator David Roberts, about the power of teamwork and the importance of celebrating individual gifts and self-expression. Watch Iggy Peck in the Netflix television series Ada Twist, Scientist! “Read it at bedtime (it’s a quick read!), chuckle with your children, and send them to dreamland.” —American Institute of Architects Some kids sculpt sandcastles. Some make mud pies. Some construct great block towers. But none are better at building than Iggy Peck, who once erected a life-size replica of the Great Sphinx on his front lawn! It’s too bad that few people appreciate Iggy’s talent—certainly not his second-grade teacher, Miss Lila Greer. It looks as if Iggy will have to trade in his T-square for a box of crayons . . . until a fateful field trip proves just how useful a master builder can be. A story told in verse, this is a book that shows the power of education and science. Iggy Peck is a child who once “built a great tower—in only an hour—with nothing but diapers and glue.” The structured rhymes and lively illustrations fit the architectural theme, and the text uses absorbing details of Iggy’s world to bring the tale to life. Each of Iggy’s classmates has their own unique quality, implying the variety of personalities and potentials to be appreciated in any group of children. Young readers will love their time spent with Iggy Peck. They’ll love the story, colorful illustrations, and also learn about the passion and practicality of science (STEM). Book Sketching for Engineers and Architects

Download or read book Sketching for Engineers and Architects written by Ron Slade and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using real working drawings from a 50 year career, Ron Slade shows how drawing remains at the heart of the design process in the everyday working life of engineers and architects. The book explains simple techniques that can be learnt and used to enhance any professional’s natural ability. Using over 180 categorised examples it demonstrates that drawing remains the fastest, clearest and most effective means of design communication. Unlike many other books on drawing in the construction industry, this book is ‘engineer led’ and science oriented but effectively shows that there is a close affinity between the working methods of architects and engineers.

Book Illustrated Architectural Engineering Mechanical Drawing Book

Download or read book Illustrated Architectural Engineering Mechanical Drawing Book written by Robert Scott Burn and published by . This book was released on 2015-06-30 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Illustrated Architectural, Engineering,& Mechanical Drawing-Book: For the Use of Schools, Students, and Artisans Where this has been departed from, and an apparent mixing up of examples has resulted, considerations involving obvious advantages have suggested the change. On the whole, however, we trust that the classification so desirable has in some measure been obtained. Although aware that architectural and mechanical drawing has for some time taken its place in many scholastic establishments as a branch of ordinary education, we are nevertheless anxious to see it still more extensively adopted. We conceive it likely to be of more general use - even to those who may not at all contemplate following up any of the professions to which it is more specially useful - than may at first sight be acknowledged. Apart from the habit of method, which, if it does not create, it will at least foster and encourage, we see many advantages accruing to those desirous of having a knowledge of science by an acquaintance with its practice. And there are few, we think, in these days of practical science, who are not likely to be interested in its progress. Geometrical drawing - taking the term in its widest sense - is an art which will enable those acquainted with its principles to understand a scientific exposition with greater readiness than those can do who are ignorant of it. To convince the reader of the truth of this, we have only to remind him, that few expositions of improvements or inventions in practical science, in its widest range, are ever made without the aid of sketches, - these ranging from the simple diagram up to the more complicated drawing; and the ready understanding of these is open only to those acquainted with drawing. This consideration should, we think, weigh very forcibly with those who are doubtful of the propriety of following the example of so many educational establishments, in introducing geometrical drawing as an ordinary branch of education. To those desirous of following out the profession of architect, engineer, or mechanic, an acquaintance with the art is as indispensable as a knowledge of sketching from nature or objects is to the artist or painter. Without it, the practical man, however ingenious, will inevitably fail in perfecting, unaided, his ideas with that facility available to the accomplished draughtsman. Its usefulness in the workshop, moreover, is no less conspicuous than in the study or bureau, in enabling the inventor or improver to communicate his ideas clearly and readily to the workman. To the latter also it is equally important and indispensable, - we mean to those who are desirous of raising themselves above the level of the mere operative, the handler of the hammer or the mallet.
