Download or read book Contracts Between Ecclesiastical Entities According to Canon Law written by Joseph Clifford N. Ndi and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2018-08-28 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within ecclesiastical circles, both from the perspective of legal practice and ordinary relational matters between ecclesiastical entities, the theme of contract very scarcely occupies a place of prominence. It is a situation that is due on the one hand, and to a large extent, to the fact that the canonisation of civil law on contracts (c. 1290 CIC/1983) has had the consequence of transferring the preoccupation of the entities on this matter to the domain of civil law. Besides, and still connected to the above, is the tendency to attribute a merely pastoral relevance to their relationships, with little or no reference to the juridic aspects inherent in these relationships. It is a situation that is largely responsible for the crisis which do not uncommonly characterise some of these relationships as verified over the centuries; particularly in the relationship between dioceses and religious institutes. The issuance of various papal and conciliar exhortations before and after Vatican II, as well as the normative instructions and legal provisions contained in various juridic documents, most prominently cc. 271, 520, 681 and 790 of CIC/1983, has gone a long way to dissipate some of the tensions of the past. However, the true nature of how the contractual relationship between ecclesiastical entities, including the attendant issues of conceptual understanding, civil status of ecclesiastical entities, resolution of contractual disputes, etc., remains a matter of investigative interest for the canonist. This is, in a nutshell, the substance of this research work. The conclusions arrived at offer the reader an insight into the available untapped resources within the ecclesiastical legal system, as well as some considerable possibilities which remain to be explored to the benefit of the subjects of canon law.

Download or read book The Sense of the Faith in History written by John J. Burkhard and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2022-02-05 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2023 Catholic Media Association Second Place Award, Theology – History of Theology, Church Fathers and Mothers While taught by Vatican II, the “sense of the faith” (sensus fidei) has had little official impact in the Catholic Church. What would the church look like if it took this conciliar teaching to heart? To address this neglect, John Burkhard locates the historical roots of the teaching and its emergence at Vatican II. It attempts to better understand the “sense of the faith” in the light of other fundamental teachings of the council and challenges the hierarchical church to invite all the faithful to rightfully participate in the prophetic ministry of the whole church, closely allied with Pope Francis’s call for a more synodal church.

Download or read book Sent Out into the World written by Michael McGourty and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-01-29 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sent Out into the World contains a liturgical theology for a parish community and the new evangelization that is derived from a reading of The Order of the Dedication of a Church. For this reason, its content can be attributed directly to a liturgical rite of the Catholic Church. It is not the creation of any one person, but rather an exercise in lex orandi, lex credendi. It presents a vision of the parish that comes directly from a rite of the church and focuses the parish community, and its members, on the mission that it has within the body of Christ. Applying the content of the ordo to a parish community, it presents a theology for those communities in which most Catholics meet the Lord and practice their faith. The liturgical theology for a parish community that is presented here focuses all parish communities on Christ and his presence in the liturgical celebrations that take place in the parish churches. As this ritual powerfully reminds the baptized, from the liturgical and sacramental celebrations in which they encounter Christ in their parish church, the faithful are to be sent out into the world as ministers of the new evangelization. By reading this book, every Christian who practices his or her faith within a parish community will be reminded of the mission which they are called to live as members dismissed to go into the world at the end of every eucharistic celebration.
Download or read book The English Reformation Revisited written by David Salvato and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2018-12-04 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a comparative study of two Church Communities, specifically the Anglican Communion and the Universal Catholic Church. It demonstrates what caused the Church in England to break away from the Catholic Church, and focuses on how English Law has influenced the Church of England since the sixteenth century, and how the Common Law system has molded its doctrine and ecclesiology. In its comparison, it follows the Churches’ histories from their inception up until the English Reformation. It highlights the differences between the two Church Communities from that time, and gives a detailed study of the two Church Communities’ understanding of law, authority and ecclesiology and how these influence the governing aspects of their respective communities. Concomitantly, it discusses the differences between the two main figures of each Community, the Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury. This book will appeal to Anglicans, Catholics, historians, lawyers, theologians and Christians in general.
