Download or read book Gocce di poesia written by Francesca Agnese Giallongo and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-02-19 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Laughter from Realism to Modernism written by Alberto Godioli and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-12-02 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "As best exemplified by the works of Pirandello, Svevo, Palazzeschi, and Gadda, Italian modernist fiction is particularly rich in bizarre and ludicrous characters, whose originality is often derided by a uniform society. On the other hand, laughter can also be used by the author (or by the misfits themselves) as a reaction to the levelling pressure of social life - Pirandello's umorismo, Svevo's irony, Palazzeschi's controdolore, and Gadda's satire are all good cases in point. Looked at from this perspective, early 20th-century Italian fiction can set the basis for an innovative reflection on broader comparative themes. What is the role of laughter and individual diversity in international Modernism? How is modernist eccentricity related to the representations of originality in the 18th and 19th centuries, from Sterne to Balzac and Dostoevsky? And what does it tell us about the fear of homogenisation as a crucial aspect of the modern social imaginary? Building on the analysis of a large corpus of short stories and other major works by the Italian authors at issue, as well as on a series of previously undetected intertextual links with the classics of European Realism, this book is the first systematic attempt at answering such questions. Alberto Godioli is Teaching Fellow in Italian at the University of Edinburgh."

Book excerpt: Cultural Association ""From Ischia The Art - DILA"" GAME OF LOVE IN SERMONETA by ANGELA MARIA TIBERI Vice President of the Association New Cenacle of Poetry of ApriliaPREFACE Entering in the world of the writer Angela Maria Tiberi and how to desecrate a tabernacle and lay bare her thoughts, her heart, her soul. Her world is inner made of dreamed and realistic relationships where passion and love intertwine to sciorination a great connection from she is lived and then lost in the street we do not know how and why. Her prose and her poems gather in a whirlwind of expressive desires that can never be reached for a great, timeless but unambiguous love. The poetics of Angela Maria Tiberi is not recommended to all those who have cold hearts escaped the sense of love. Failing to make it their own, they would think, foolishly, that these are utopian transpositions in verses of obsolete ideals, without realizing that the real ""old"" are only those who no longer know how to believe in love. Book excerpt: Agonistes comprises a collection of essays presented by his friends and colleagues to Denis O'Brien, former Directeur de recherché at the Centre Nationale de Recherché Scientifique, representing the full range of his scholarly interests in the field of ancient philosophy, from the Presocratics, through Plato, Aristotle and Hellenistic philosophy, to Plotinus and later Neoplatonism. The honorand himself leads off with a stimulating Apologia, sketching the development of his scholarly interests and dwelling on the issues that have chiefly concerned him. The contributions then follow in chronological order, under four headings: I From the Presocratics to Plato (Frère, Brancacci); II From Plato to the Stoics (Brisson, Casertano, Dixsaut, Kühn, McCabe, Narcy, Rowe, Goulet); III Plotinus and the Neoplatonist Tradition (O'Meara, Sakonji, Gersh, Steel, Dillon, Smith); IV Saint Augustine and After (Pépin, Rist, Brague/Freudenthal). They comprise a significant representation of the most distinguished scholars both on the continent and in the British Isles, and fairly represent the wide influence which Denis O'Brien has had on his contemporaries. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Monsignor Luigi Giussani (1922–2005) was the founder of the Catholic lay movement Communion and Liberation in Italy, which has hundreds of thousands of adherents around the globe. In The Life of Luigi Giussani Alberto Savorana, who spent an important part of his life working and studying with Giussani, draws on many unpublished documents to recount who the priest was and how he lived. Giussani’s life story is particularly significant because it shares many of the same challenges, risks, and paths toward enlightenment that are described in his numerous and influential publications. Savorana demonstrates that the circumstances Giussani experienced and the people he encountered played a crucial role in defining his vocation. Illuminating details are shared about Giussani’s parents, professors, and friends in the seminary, the things he read, his priesthood, his experience teaching, misunderstandings and moments of recognition, and illness. Luigi Giussani considered Christianity to be a fact, a real event in human life, which takes the form of an encounter, inviting anyone and everyone to verify its relevance to life’s needs. This is what happened for so many people all over the world who recognized in this priest and leader, with his rough and captivating voice, not only a teacher to learn from, but above all a man to compare oneself with – a companion for the journey who could be trusted to answer the question: how can we live? In addition to providing the first chronological reconstruction of the life of the founder of Communion and Liberation, The Life of Luigi Giussani provides a detailed account of his legacy and what his life’s work meant to individual people and the Church.
