Book High Gain Observers in Nonlinear Feedback Control

Download or read book High Gain Observers in Nonlinear Feedback Control written by Hassan H. Khalil and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2017-06-23 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over a quarter of a century, high-gain observers have been used extensively in the design of output feedback control of nonlinear systems. This book presents a clear, unified treatment of the theory of high-gain observers and their use in feedback control. Also provided is a discussion of the separation principle for nonlinear systems; this differs from other separation results in the literature in that recovery of stability as well as performance of state feedback controllers is given. The author provides a detailed discussion of applications of high-gain observers to adaptive control and regulation problems and recent results on the extended high-gain observers. In addition, the author addresses two challenges that face the implementation of high-gain observers: high dimension and measurement noise. Low-power observers are presented for high-dimensional systems. The effect of measurement noise is characterized and techniques to reduce that effect are presented. The book ends with discussion of digital implementation of the observers. Readers will find comprehensive coverage of the main results on high-gain observers; rigorous, self-contained proofs of all results; and numerous examples that illustrate and provide motivation for the results. The book is intended for engineers and applied mathematicians who design or research feedback control systems.

Book The Speech Chain

    Book Details:
  • Author : Dr. Peter B. Denes
  • Publisher : Pickle Partners Publishing
  • Release : 2016-08-09
  • ISBN : 1787200779
  • Pages : 210 pages

Download or read book The Speech Chain written by Dr. Peter B. Denes and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2016-08-09 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1963, The Speech Chain has been regarded as the classic, easy-to-read introduction to the fundamentals and complexities of speech communication. It provides a foundation for understanding the essential aspects of linguistics, acoustics and anatomy, and explores research and development into digital processing of speech and the use of computers for the generation of artificial speech and speech recognition. This interdisciplinary account will prove invaluable to students with little or no previous exposure to the study of language.

Book Nonlinear Dimensionality Reduction

Download or read book Nonlinear Dimensionality Reduction written by John A. Lee and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes established and advanced methods for reducing the dimensionality of numerical databases. Each description starts from intuitive ideas, develops the necessary mathematical details, and ends by outlining the algorithmic implementation. The text provides a lucid summary of facts and concepts relating to well-known methods as well as recent developments in nonlinear dimensionality reduction. Methods are all described from a unifying point of view, which helps to highlight their respective strengths and shortcomings. The presentation will appeal to statisticians, computer scientists and data analysts, and other practitioners having a basic background in statistics or computational learning.

Book Biomedical Signals and Sensors III

Download or read book Biomedical Signals and Sensors III written by Eugenijus Kaniusas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-08-14 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the third volume in the author’s series on “Biomedical Signals and Sensors,” this book explains in a highly instructive way how electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields propagate and interact with biological tissues. The series provides a bridge between physiological mechanisms and theranostic human engineering. The first volume focuses on the interface between physiological mechanisms and the resultant biosignals that are commonplace in clinical practice. The physiologic mechanisms determining biosignals are described from the cellular level up to the mutual coordination at the organ level. In turn, the second volume considers the genesis of acoustic and optic biosignals and the associated sensing technology from a strategic point of view. This third volume addresses the interface between electric biosignals and biomedical sensors. Electric biosignals are considered, starting with the biosignal formation path to biosignal propagation in the body and finally to the biosignal sensing path and the recording of the signal. The series also emphasizes the common features of acoustic, optic and electric biosignals, which are ostensibly entirely different in terms of their physical nature. Readers will learn how these electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields propagate and interact with biological tissues, are influenced by inhomogeneity effects, cause neuromuscular stimulation and thermal effects, and finally pass the electrode/tissue boundary to be recorded. As such, the book helps them manage the challenges posed by the highly interdisciplinary nature of biosignals and biomedical sensors by presenting the basics of electrical engineering, physics, biology and physiology that are needed to understand the relevant phenomena.
