Download or read book Wireless and Mobile Networking written by Mahbub Hassan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been phenomenal uptake of wireless and mobile networking technologies in the past decades. Significant developments have taken place during this time making the wireless technology more affordable, effective, and reliable. This book explains the fundamental principles and protocols of key existing and emerging wireless networking technologies. The book begins with a review of the fundamentals of wireless communications. It covers the basic theories and terminologies of coding and modulation, which maps digital information to the underlying signal, as well as the models to capture the dynamics of wireless signal propagation in the environment. It provides in-depth coverage of the WiFi evolution covering both the mainstream WiFi, which operates in 2.4/5GHz with new versions targeting 6GHz, as well as some of the niche WiFi standards that operate outside the mainstream bands such as 802.11af in 700MHz TV bands, 802.11ah in 900MHz to connect the Internet of Things (IoT), and 802.11ad/ay in 60GHz to support multi-gigabit applications. The book covers the fundamental concepts of cellular networks, examines the advancements brought forth by each generation, and discusses new applications and the underpinning wireless technologies promised by 5G. It also covers a recently developed long-range low-power wireless networking technology called LoRa, which is the fastest growing technology to connect millions of IoT sensors and devices throughout the world. The concluding chapters examine emerging wireless paradigms such as Artificial Intelligence for wireless networking, sensing with wireless signals, and mobile networking with flying base stations carried by drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). With many worked-out examples, illustrative figures, and multiple choice questions, this book is an ideal for students and a valuable reference for anyone working in this rapidly evolving field.

Download or read book The Beauty of Fractals written by Heinz-Otto Peitgen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1986-07 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now approaching its tenth year, this hugely successful book presents an unusual attempt to publicise the field of Complex Dynamics. The text was originally conceived as a supplemented catalogue to the exhibition "Frontiers of Chaos", seen in Europe and the United States, and describes the context and meaning of these fascinating images. A total of 184 illustrations - including 88 full-colour pictures of Julia sets - are suggestive of a coffee-table book. However, the invited contributions which round off the book lend the text the required formality. Benoit Mandelbrot gives a very personal account, in his idiosyncratic self-centred style, of his discovery of the fractals named after him and Adrien Douady explains the solved and unsolved problems relating to this amusingly complex set.

Download or read book Number Theory and Dynamical Systems written by M. M. Dodson and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1989-11-09 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains selected contributions from a very successful meeting on Number Theory and Dynamical Systems held at the University of York in 1987. There are close and surprising connections between number theory and dynamical systems. One emerged last century from the study of the stability of the solar system where problems of small divisors associated with the near resonance of planetary frequencies arose. Previously the question of the stability of the solar system was answered in more general terms by the celebrated KAM theorem, in which the relationship between near resonance (and so Diophantine approximation) and stability is of central importance. Other examples of the connections involve the work of Szemeredi and Furstenberg, and Sprindzuk. As well as containing results on the relationship between number theory and dynamical systems, the book also includes some more speculative and exploratory work which should stimulate interest in different approaches to old problems.

Download or read book Quantum Classical Correspondence written by A. O. Bolivar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-01-22 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At what level of physical existence does "quantum behavior" begin? How does it develop from classical mechanics? This book addresses these questions and thereby sheds light on fundamental conceptual problems of quantum mechanics. It elucidates the problem of quantum-classical correspondence by developing a procedure for quantizing stochastic systems (e.g. Brownian systems) described by Fokker-Planck equations. The logical consistency of the scheme is then verified by taking the classical limit of the equations of motion and corresponding physical quantities. Perhaps equally important, conceptual problems concerning the relationship between classical and quantum physics are identified and discussed. Graduate students and physical scientists will find this an accessible entrée to an intriguing and thorny issue at the core of modern physics.
Download or read book Extractive Metallurgy of Nickel Cobalt and Platinum Group Metals written by Frank Crundwell and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-07-18 with total page 623 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes and explains the methods by which three related ores and recyclables are made into high purity metals and chemicals, for materials processing. It focuses on present day processes and future developments rather than historical processes. Nickel, cobalt and platinum group metals are key elements for materials processing. They occur together in one book because they (i) map together on the periodic table (ii) occur together in many ores and (iii) are natural partners for further materials processing and materials manufacturing. They all are, for example, important catalysts – with platinum group metals being especially important for reducing car and truck emissions. Stainless steels and CoNiFe airplane engine super alloys are examples of practical usage. The product emphasises a sequential, building-block approach to the subject gained through the author's previous writings (particularly Extractive Metallurgy of Copper in four editions) and extensive experience. Due to the multiple metals involved and because each metal originates in several types of ore – e.g. tropical ores and arctic ores this necessitates a multi-contributor work drawing from multiple networks and both engineering and science. - Synthesizes detailed review of the fundamental chemistry and physics of extractive metallurgy with practical lessons from industrial consultancies at the leading international plants - Discusses Nickel, Cobalt and Platinum Group Metals for the first time in one book - Reviews extraction of multiple metals from the same tropical or arctic ore - Industrial, international and multidisciplinary focus on current standards of production supports best practice use of industrial resources
