Download or read book Electric Utility Systems and Practices written by Homer M. Rustebakke and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1983-08-16 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Covers the essential components, operation and protection of the electric power system in a single volume. Discusses how the system operation and components are protected from abnormal operation such as short circuits, and the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power. Presents information on how electric power is transmitted (energy from generator to load), and provides insights into the nature of the electric utility business.

Download or read book Computational Symmetry in Computer Vision and Computer Graphics written by Yanxi Liu and published by Now Publishers Inc. This book was released on 2010 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the arts and sciences, as well as in our daily lives, symmetry has made a profound and lasting impact. Likewise, a computational treatment of symmetry and group theory (the ultimate mathematical formalization of symmetry) has the potential to play an important role in computational sciences. Though the term Computational Symmetry was formally defined a decade ago by the first author, referring to algorithmic treatment of symmetries, seeking symmetry from digital data has been attempted for over four decades. Computational symmetry on real world data turns out to be challenging enough that, after decades of effort, a fully automated symmetry-savvy system remains elusive for real world applications. The recent resurging interests in computational symmetry for computer vision and computer graphics applications have shown promising results. Recognizing the fundamental relevance and potential power that computational symmetry affords, we offer this survey to the computer vision and computer graphics communities. This survey provides a succinct summary of the relevant mathematical theory, a historic perspective of some important symmetry-related ideas, a partial yet timely report on the state of the arts symmetry detection algorithms along with its first quantitative benchmark, a diverse set of real world applications, suggestions for future directions and a comprehensive reference list.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the continued advance of computing power and accessibility, the view that "real mathematicians don't compute" no longer has any traction for a newer generation of mathematicians. The goal in this book is to present a coherent variety of accessible examples of modern mathematics where intelligent computing plays a significant role and in so doi

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discusses, from a working mathematician's point of view, the mystery of mathematical intuition: Why are certain mathematical concepts more intuitive than others? And to what extent does the 'small scale' structure of mathematical concepts and algorithms reflect the workings of the human brain?
Download or read book Linked Data Visualization written by Laura Po and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Linked Data (LD) is a well-established standard for publishing and managing structured information on the Web, gathering and bridging together knowledge from different scientific and commercial domains. The development of Linked Data Visualization techniques and tools has been followed as the primary means for the analysis of this vast amount of information by data scientists, domain experts, business users, and citizens. This book covers a wide spectrum of visualization issues, providing an overview of the recent advances in this area, focusing on techniques, tools, and use cases of visualization and visual analysis of LD. It presents the basic concepts related to data visualization and the LD technologies, the techniques employed for data visualization based on the characteristics of data techniques for Big Data visualization, use tools and use cases in the LD context, and finally a thorough assessment of the usability of these tools under different scenarios. The purpose of this book is to offer a complete guide to the evolution of LD visualization for interested readers from any background and to empower them to get started with the visual analysis of such data. This book can serve as a course textbook or a primer for all those interested in LD and data visualization.
