It has changed the way enterprise and internet computing is viewed, and this success story is the result of the long-term efforts of computing research community around the globe. It is predicted that by 2026 more than two-thirds of all enterprises across the globe will be entirely run in cloud. These predictions have led to huge levels of funding for research and development in cloud computing and related technologies. Accordingly, universities across the globe have incorporated cloud computing and its related technologies in their curriculum, and information technology (IT) organizations are accelerating their skill-set evolution in order to be better prepared to manage emerging technologies and public expectations of the cloud, such as new services.
Download or read book Information Systems Architecture and Technology Proceedings of 40th Anniversary International Conference on Information Systems Architecture and Technology ISAT 2019 written by Leszek Borzemski and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This three-volume book highlights significant advances in the development of new information systems technologies and architectures. Further, it helps readers solve specific research and analytical problems and glean useful knowledge and business value from data. Each chapter provides an analysis of a specific technical problem, followed by a numerical analysis, simulation, and implementation of the solution to the real-world problem. Managing an organization, especially in today’s rapidly changing environment, is a highly complex process. Increased competition in the marketplace, especially as a result of the massive and successful entry of foreign businesses into domestic markets, changes in consumer behaviour, and broader access to new technologies and information, calls for organisational restructuring and the introduction and modification of management methods using the latest scientific advances. This situation has prompted various decision-making bodies to introduce computer modelling of organization management systems. This book presents the peer-reviewed proceedings of the 40th Anniversary International Conference “Information Systems Architecture and Technology” (ISAT), held on September 15–17, 2019, in Wrocław, Poland. The conference was organised by the Computer Science Department, Faculty of Computer Science and Management, Wroclaw University of Sciences and Technology, and University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, Poland. The papers have been grouped into three major sections: Part I—discusses topics including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence methods, knowledge discovery and data mining, big data, knowledge-based management, Internet of Things, cloud computing and high-performance computing, distributed computer systems, content delivery networks, and service-oriented computing. Part II—addresses various topics, such as system modelling for control, recognition and decision support, mathematical modelling in computer system design, service-oriented systems, and cloud computing, and complex process modelling. Part III—focuses on a number of themes, like knowledge-based management, modelling of financial and investment decisions, modelling of managerial decisions, production systems management, and maintenance, risk management, small business management, and theories and models of innovation.

Download or read book 4th International Conference on Internet of Things and Connected Technologies ICIoTCT 2019 written by Neeta Nain and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-02-14 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Internet of Things and Connected Technologies (ICIoTCT), held on May 9–10, 2019, at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, India. The Internet of Things (IoT) promises to usher in a revolutionary, fully interconnected “smart” world, with relationships between objects and their environment and objects and people becoming more tightly intertwined. The prospect of the Internet of Things as a ubiquitous array of devices bound to the Internet could fundamentally change how people think about what it means to be “online”. The ICIotCT 2019 conference provided a platform to discuss advances in Internet of Things (IoT) and connected technologies, such as various protocols and standards. It also offered participants the opportunity to interact with experts through keynote talks, paper presentations and discussions, and as such stimulated research. With the recent adoption of a variety of enabling wireless communication technologies, like RFID tags, BLE, ZigBee, embedded sensor and actuator nodes, and various protocols such as CoAP, MQTT and DNS, IoT has moved on from its infancy. Today smart sensors can collaborate directly with machines to automate decision-making or to control a task without human involvement. Further, smart technologies, including green electronics, green radios, fuzzy neural approaches, and intelligent signal processing techniques play an important role in the development of the wearable healthcare devices.

Multi-Processor System-on-Chip 1 covers the key components of MPSoC: processors, memory, interconnect and interfaces. It describes advance features of these components and technologies to build efficient MPSoC architectures. All the main components are detailed: use of memory and their technology, communication support and consistency, and specific processor architectures for general purposes or for dedicated applications.
Download or read book Latency aware Resource Management at the Edge written by Klervie Toczé and published by Linköping University Electronic Press. This book was released on 2020-02-19 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increasing diversity of connected devices leads to new application domains being envisioned. Some of these need ultra low latency or have privacy requirements that cannot be satisfied by the current cloud. By bringing resources closer to the end user, the recent edge computing paradigm aims to enable such applications. One critical aspect to ensure the successful deployment of the edge computing paradigm is efficient resource management. Indeed, obtaining the needed resources is crucial for the applications using the edge, but the resource picture of this paradigm is complex. First, as opposed to the nearly infinite resources provided by the cloud, the edge devices have finite resources. Moreover, different resource types are required depending on the applications and the devices supplying those resources are very heterogeneous. This thesis studies several challenges towards enabling efficient resource management for edge computing. The thesis begins by a review of the state-of-the-art research focusing on resource management in the edge computing context. A taxonomy is proposed for providing an overview of the current research and identify areas in need of further work. One of the identified challenges is studying the resource supply organization in the case where a mix of mobile and stationary devices is used to provide the edge resources. The ORCH framework is proposed as a means to orchestrate this edge device mix. The evaluation performed in a simulator shows that this combination of devices enables higher quality of service for latency-critical tasks. Another area is understanding the resource demand side. The thesis presents a study of the workload of a killer application for edge computing: mixed reality. The MR-Leo prototype is designed and used as a vehicle to understand the end-to-end latency, the throughput, and the characteristics of the workload for this type of application. A method for modeling the workload of an application is devised and applied to MR-Leo in order to obtain a synthetic workload exhibiting the same characteristics, which can be used in further studies.
