Book Integrating Lotus Domino 6 and WebSphere Express V5 on the IBM EServer ISeries Server

Download or read book Integrating Lotus Domino 6 and WebSphere Express V5 on the IBM EServer ISeries Server written by Deb Landon and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When most people enter their house, they only have to unlock one or two locks on the front door. Imagine, however, if you had to use a key and unlock the door to every room inside the house, every time you wanted to go into another room. Such is the case with many Information Technology (IT) systems these days, which require a multitude of user IDs and passwords for every system and application you want to access. Faced with growing user frustrations, many companies are turning to a single signon (SSO) security system. SSO lets users enter one user ID and password and then have access to an entire system or application. This IBM Redbooks publication is for system administrators who want to understand how to configure an SSO environment between their IBM Lotus Domino and IBM WebSphere applications on the IBM Eserver iSeries server. This environment requires using a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) server, having a common user registry, and enabling security on both Domino and WebSphere applications. In this book, you learn how to configure and use either the Domino HTTP server or the IBM HTTP Server (powered by Apache) to serve both Domino and WebSphere content. For SSO, a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server is required for common user registry between Domino and WebSphere. This book shows you how to use either Domino as the LDAP server or OS/400 Directory Services. Finally this book shows you how to enable security on both your Domino application and WebSphere Application Server - Express instance to support an SSO environment. Please note that the additional material referenced in the text is not available from IBM.

Book Exploring Ibm Accelerators for Websphere Portal

Download or read book Exploring Ibm Accelerators for Websphere Portal written by Jim Hoskins and published by Maximum Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasingly, the "window" through which customers, business partners, and employees view a business is a computer screen. Expectations as to what a business provides in terms of online access to services through this window or portal are increasing rapidly. And it's not enough to provide people with a consistent way of accessing the online tools they need to work, collaborate, or buy. Today's businesses stand to achieve many benefits by implementing an enterprise-class portal that provides consistent access to customized tools that improve productivity, fuel innovation, and improve customer satisfaction. This is the thinking behind the growing family of IBM accelerators for WebSphere Portal. This book provides business people and IT staff with an easy-to-read introduction to the IBM accelerators. It will start by introducing the concept of a portal, the WebSphere family, and WebSphere Portal Server. Each IBM accelerator will then be introduced and explored in terms of both the business value it provides and how it works. To illustrate how the IBM accelerators can be employed to solve business problems, three hypothetical businesses are described and then outfitted with the appropriate IBM accelerator solution. This book will help you: Understand how portals can help businesses be more successful. Learn about IBM WebSphere and WebSphere Portal Server. Get inside the IBM accelerator strategy. See the business value of IBM accelerators in various environments. Learn by watching as three businesses implement IBM accelerators. About the Author Jim Hoskins has been involved with computer technology design, implementation, and education for over 25 years. Book Programming Portlets

Download or read book Programming Portlets written by Ron Lynn and published by IBM Press. This book was released on 2007-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Portals have evolved from simple Web applications with multiple links to an enterprise application delivery platform that serves composite applications. In a world where organizations are gearing up with service-oriented architecture (SOA) strategies and re-working existing apps to fit the Web 2.0 programming model, portals are strategic infrastructure components on every CIO s radar. As companies move toward SOA, portlets become an even hotter topic. Portlets provide the user interface for these services. IBM s unwavering commitment to open standards such as Java Specification Request (JSR 168) and strong presence in the application server market (IBM WebSphere Application Server) have helped establish WebSphere Portal as a leader among available portal solutions in the market. "Programming Portlets, Second Edition" takes developers down a path of understanding all the latest concepts, including SOA, AJAX, and best practices to consider when building a J2EEbased portal. The book offers the reader the tools and information necessary to develop portlets and portal applications in two ways. Part 1 focuses on building portlets that will adhere to the JSR 168 API standard. This allows developers who want to use any JSR 168compliant portlet container to quickly build quality portlets. Part 2 extends the focus to building JSR 168compliant portlets for the IBM WebSphere Portal Server and includes information on portlet extensions and WebSphere Portal capabilities that can be leveraged in a portal development effort. Among the many things you will find inside "Programming Portlets, Second Edition" Addition of extensive JSR 168 material Updates for WebSphere Portal (V6) Coverage of new technologies such as IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory and Lotus Workplace Forms Ways to use AJAX in portlets Explanation of how portals and portlets fit into SOA Method for creating JSR 168compliant portlets using IBM WebSphere IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory, Workplace Forms, and creation of portal services Instructions for building complex portlets quickly using Rational Application Developer or WebSphere Portlet Factory Use of JavaServerTM Faces in portlets Proper use of JSTL with regard to portlets Effective integration of Struts in the portal framework Ways of inter-portlet communication Method to build a portlet from the ground up quickly and effectively The best practices of portlet development Valuable information resources, including examples of various types of portlets"
