Book I was a Victim of a Sexual Predator Were You

Download or read book I was a Victim of a Sexual Predator Were You written by Jasmine Philips and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-07 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Looking back, I cannot believe I allowed myself to be taken in, manipulated and mentally abused for 5 years by a man who never once told me he loved me. How could an intelligent, well educated, mature woman with so much going for herself become a victim of a Sexual Predator? Even now, I can't answer that question. Those in the field of medicine, those who study the mind, may be able to help me answer that question. For now, I just pray that it doesn't happen to you. Don't let a handsome face and a few compliments cause you to lose everything in your life that is important. I had everything I needed and I almost lost it all. There are so many lonely women out here. There are predators around every corner waiting for the opportunity to give you a compliment, get into your head, steal your heart, rape your body and rob you blind. It happened to me and it could happen to you. How many times have we heard and read stories of women in abusive relationships continuing to stay with the abuser or leaving and going back time and time again. I would often ask myself how in the world could a woman go through that kind of abuse and not walk away. Now that I have been in their shoes, I will never judge them again. Something happens to you when you love someone. Something breaks down in you and you can't see your way out. Your self esteem becomes so damaged you become crippled. The most important thing we can ever do for ourselves in this life is to love God and to love ourselves first and foremost. If we do not know how to love ourselves, we will never know how to truly love someone else.

Book From Victim to Offender

Download or read book From Victim to Offender written by Freda Briggs and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-08-26 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tom was the only adult who gave me the attention and affection that I so badly needed. I loved his caresses and the times he comforted me. I loved talking to him because he was the only adult who listened and understood. - Neil's Story From Victim to Offender shows how victims of child sexual abuse become juvenile and adult offenders. The stories told by these offenders reveal the vulnerability of boys to paedophiles and pederasts who provide the male attention lacking in some children's home lives. They show how early sexualisation damages children's sexual development, their relationships and their adult lives. The story of a female offender reveals that this problem is not confined to boys. These stories highlight the inadequacy of current child protection programs for the protection of boys. The editor's introduction and the chapter from a psychologist who specialises in the treatment of offenders emphasise the need to improve child protection and treatment programs for offenders. From Victim to Offender offers unique insights into the experiences of victims and offenders of sexual abuse, and is essential reading for professionals who are concerned about child protection and those responsible for the rehabilitation of offenders.

Download or read book Perfect Victims written by Bill James and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2011-07-07 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Black Dahlia case. The Manson murders. The Zodiac Killer. The slaughter of JonBenet Ramsay. These killings, among many others in Bill James's astonishing chronicle of the history of American crime, have all created a frenzy of interest and speculation about human nature. And while many of us choose to avoid the news about gruesome murders, Bill James contends that these crime stories, which create such frenzy (and have throughout history), are as important to understanding our society, culture and history as anything we may consider to be a more 'serious' subject. The topic envelopes our society so completely, we almost forget about it. James looks at the ways in which society has changed by examining the development of how crimes have been committed, investigated and prosecuted. The booktakes on such issues as the rise of an organized police force, the controversial use of the death penalty, the introduction of evidence such as fingerprinting and DNA, and the unexpected ways in which the most shocking crimes have shaped the criminal justice system and our perceptions of violence.

Book excerpt: The Victim's Guide to Surviving the Narcissist/Sociopath Updated and its first position 300-plus page Pre-Book is a two books-in-one book designed to assist victims of covert spousal predators and their support persons understand the reality of the covert spousal predator (i.e. the narcissist, malignant narcissist, sociopath/psychopath, dual diagnosed/dual diagnosable, narcopath). This material delves into the worst case scenario possible for the spousal victim as well as common red flags, exploitation, strip-mining, predatory take-ALL agenda and abuse patterns perpetrated by the covert spousal predator in his/her hunting prime and afterward when the predator decompensates. Many valuable references are provided throughout this book for further education/research and understanding. Readers are strongly encouraged to continue their review of material created by all of the referenced educators and authors listed in this book. Moreover, the top mistakes made by victims, support persons for victims, professionals, law enforcement and others are detailed in the hopes that readers will avoid making as many of these errors as they face various scenarios with the predator or predators in their lives or in the lives of others they are attempting to assist. For spousal victims in the worst case scenario with an empowered/aided and abetted covert spousal predator (i.e. situations where common minor children are involved) this book covers topics typically not touched in the material of others. This book is not about overt spousal predators (i.e. abusers whose victims can effectively use the system and/or domestic violence shelter assistance to flee) though overt predators perpetrate many of the same abuse patterns minus the skill of becoming aided and abetted via abuse by proxy scams, which are commonly the mainstay of the covert predator's take-ALL agenda.

Book Reconsidering Sex Crimes and Offenders

Download or read book Reconsidering Sex Crimes and Offenders written by Laura J. Zilney and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2009-07-23 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This examination of our nation's sex crime laws and the social attitudes behind them argues that many citizens are being pursued as sex offenders for nonviolent and oftentimes consensual sexual behaviors. Cutting through the hysteria and hype, Reconsidering Sex Crimes and Offenders: Prosecution or Persecution? argues that while convicted violent sex offenders certainly should be punished, many laws targeting minor sexual offenses are outdated, overly severe, and too concerned with satisfying public outrage driven by distortions, misconceptions, and sensationalistic media coverage. Reconsidering Sex Crimes and Offenders is sure to challenge readers' understanding of who a sex offender is, how they should be treated, and how best to protect the community from such offenders. The book looks at how the legal definitions of certain offenses have changed over time and then explores a series of real-life case studies. Readers will discover how some citizens have been targeted and punished for consensual acts—including homosexuality, polygamy, and pornography. Additional coverage considers a number of highly controversial laws—from residency restrictions to the death penalty—and the media's role in fueling public support for them.
