Book The American Experiment Yesterday Today and Tomorrow

Download or read book The American Experiment Yesterday Today and Tomorrow written by Randall Rush and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-10-01 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book sets out the history of "The American Experiment" in self-government focusing on its original legal documents, The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution. It discusses how and why such a 'Total Heresy' as self-government ever arose and has survived for nearly 250 years. One focus is on the original genius of the 'Separation of Powers' that has become so muddled since the Framers created the Constitution. The horror of the World Wars and key aspects of the Presidents from Eisenhower through Carter and the two Bushes are summarized. Presidents Reagan, Clinton, Obama, and Trump are discussed in increasing levels of detail. The failures of the Federal Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation beginning with the Enron prosecution are summarized. The issues of the appointment of Supreme Court Justices, immigration, and the rise of socialism/communism in America are discussed in some detail. The failed bloodless coup d'etat and impeachment attempts to remove President Trump from office are discussed in depth as are the climate change debate and the Green New Deal. The geopolitical world from Europe, to Russia, the Middle East, China and North Korea are discussed as they are directly affecting future American freedom. One of the last chapters discusses why western man and specifically America arrived at the pinnacle of civilization while others did not. Finally, the author closes with, "The Only Thing That Matters at the End of the Trail" - a summary of his wishes for not only his descendants, but all the World.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I’ve shut the door on yesterday, It sorrows and mistakes; I’ve locked within its gloomy walls Past failures and heartaches And now I throw the key away To seek another room And furnish it with hope and smiles, And every springtime bloom. No thought shall enter this abode That has a hint of pain, And every malice and distrust Shall never therein reign. I’ve shut the door on yesterday And thrown the key away- Tomorrow holds no doubt for me, Since I have found today.

Download or read book Was It Yesterday written by Matthew Leggatt and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2021-06-01 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together prominent transatlantic film and media scholars, Was It Yesterday? explores the impact of nostalgia in twenty-first century American film and television. Cultural nostalgia, in both real and imagined forms, is dominant today, but what does the concentration on bringing back the past mean for an understanding of our cultural moment, and what are the consequences for viewers? This book questions the nature of this nostalgic phenomenon, the politics associated with it, and the significance of the different periods, in addition to offering counterarguments that see nostalgia as prevalent throughout film and television history. Considering such films and television shows as La La Land, Westworld, Stranger Things, and American Hustle, the contributors demonstrate how audiences have spent more time over the last decade living in various pasts.

Book In Search of Yesterday

Download or read book In Search of Yesterday written by Rudolf Becher and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IN SEARCH OF YESTERDAY Death of a Culture This is the true story of a little boy searching for his identity for his biological father. It is the story of a boy born into a world of turmoil and havoc a world where not all was well, where war, starvation and bombs, confusion, lies, and deceit were the rule; and food, safety, and happiness were the exception. It is the story of a little boy's fears and anxieties in a country far, far away where life was an uncertainty and death a looming promise where the world was upside down. It is the true story of a little boy that found himself trapped in a country at war with itself, where human life was at the mercy of the Nazis during the Jewish holocaust (before 1945) in Czechoslovakia and at the mercy of the Czech Bolsheviks (after 1945) during the Sudetenland holocaust that drove untold millions of women and children across Europe's wasteland like cattle. But it is also the true story of a little boy that, with the help of his family, and the generosity of the American people, rose above the devastation suffered and inflicted upon him as a child and became a man loved and respected by others. It is not a story of failure! It is, really, when you think about it, a story of success and triumph!

Book Thoughts From Yesterday

Download or read book Thoughts From Yesterday written by Glen Thomas Hierlmeier and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-01-24 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My life has been so rich owing to the people who I have been blessed to know, who have provided the substance to write about, and I have been in so many wonderful places. Once I capture a theme, I mull it over for days, or weeks and months, sometimes years. I may write several drafts in my mind before I write a single word. Sometimes the first writing of a story will come out in more or less final draft form. I tend to be very serious in my writing; I choose serious subjects, then I try to honor my commitment that a good story should make you laugh and cry, and relate to the people, places and things in the story. Unfortunately, there is often much more crying than laughing. I’ll keep working on that. You should know that I have cried first. As I write, I relive my stories; there are some I have read many times---and I have cried over them every time, as much the last as the first. As my subtitle relates, this is an unfinished work. There are many more stories and essays, letters, poems, and such that I still have in mind to write. I hope to get to many more of them so we can share the special people, places, and things of our lives. I have been encouraged to go ahead with what I have, knowing that I will keep writing, and keep crying, and laughing some too.

Book The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday

Download or read book The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday written by Stephen Enna and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-08-05 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE ONLY EASY DAY WAS YESTERDAY is the unofficial motto of the United States Navy SEAL’s. This story is fiction but it is built on a foundation of fact. It is the story of Ashley Morgan Jamison and how she earned the Navy SEAL Triton and became the first woman in American History to earn the right to be called a Navy SEAL. Navy SEAL’s are not born that way. They work hard to develop the physical strength to make it happen, and they must have a mindset that allows them to be mentally tough. Ashley is challenged at each stage of her life, but she meets all challenges with a mental toughness that very few possess. This is a story that just doesn’t happen overnight. It is a story that is developed over 23 years of a woman’s life. Every year presents a new challenge and Ashley thrives on challenges. Ashley’s story is fiction but it is not far from reality. Women are now allowed to apply to become United States Navy SEAL’s but they must pass every test that men must pass. There are no qualification differences. Some women have tried but as of this writing no woman has yet to succeed. It is my hope that somewhere, sometime a woman will read this story and based on Ashley’s experiences the reader will learn, apply and succeed in pulling off something that no woman has yet to accomplish. I would like nothing better than to see this fiction story become a reality.

This book was released on 1983-06-17 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ford wrote with engaging frankness about himself and his contemporaries. These reminiscences are an intimate personal record of a life distinguished by literary achievements and friendships with notable writers of his time. Ford's accounts of his literary collaboration with Joseph Conrad, of Stephen Crane's last years in England, and of Henry James at home in Rye are fascinating. A most valuable, long out of print book by the author of The Good Soldier, No More Parades, A Man Could Stand Up, and Last Post.

Book excerpt: How Much of Your Future Depends on Your Past? After decades apart, childhood friends Jo Felsenthal and Gina Ingram spend their first summer together after more than forty years. A few weeks spent revisiting life as the girls they used to be and getting to know each other as the women they’ve become has shown them that time and circumstances have changed them both. They’re different women with different ideals and different convictions. Gina has spent her life in their hometown of Polk Ridge, Arkansas, nestled in the Ozark mountains as a counselor for the poor and drug addicted. She’s sympathetic and open minded to others’ hardships. Jo, by contrast, has lived her life in the military—an environment with a single-minded purpose and a demand for rigid discipline. For Jo, blending back into a community that distrusts the very government she has spent her life defending, leaves her completely at odds with the people Gina seems to adore. When Jo meets Gina’s friends Max and Maxine, she’s thrown for a loop as these two conspiracy driven hippies challenge her beliefs about the government and law—all of which has shaped her into the woman she is today. Her instant dislike of Gina’s friends suddenly threatens the newly reunited childhood friends. In Crossing Yesterday, the second book in the Women of the Ozarks Scrapbook Series, Jo and Gina are forced to ask: Just how far apart can two people be and still find common ground? If you like Beach House for Rent and The Book of Lost Friends, you’ll love the Women of the Ozarks Scrapbook Series.

Book The Other Side of Yesterday My Account of Abuse and Survival

Download or read book The Other Side of Yesterday My Account of Abuse and Survival written by Spencer Hatch and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2023-10-13 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I was a teenager, I never thought I would one day endure a violent and abusive relationship. I thought those things only happened to other people. I was meant for greatness. The person I ended up becoming was someone so broken that it was not possible to see a way forward. Yet, somehow, I survived. Written from true events, The Other Side of Yesterday is my true, first-hand account of surviving my relationship with a sociopath, who abused me mentally, physically, and emotionally. After taking everything from me – my dignity, self-worth, and value – he ultimately tried to take my life. This is my story of enduring, surviving, and overcoming the violence I endured at the hand of the person I loved, and how I finally found the strength to move on. In the end, I survived, and you can survive too. Life is so much better on the other side.
