Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Its Been a Good Life, Dad!My Sons Struggle with Cystic Fibrosis portrays a young manKevin Hendonwho lived his eighteen years with cystic fibrosis ever present. The author, Jerry E. Hendon, tells the story of his sons life in the first part of this biography. He presents the diseases harsh truths and the severe limitsand of medicines ability to respond to the diseases challenges. With equal clarity, though, he reveals the energy and determination his son showed in the face of his diagnosis. In the second part of Its Been a Good Life, Dad!, Kevins poetry takes center stage. He shares his feelings of isolation and frustration. He ruminates on love, lust, and romance. He expresses his observations about friends and school. He reflects on the place of religion and family in his life. The final two sections of the book sample the recollections of people who knew Kevin and share the abiding influences of Kevins spirit in the wider community of those his life has touched. Whether you have cystic fibrosis or know someone who lives with this disease, you might find yourself turning the pages of this portrayal and feeling the temptation to echo the authors despair when he said, What a miserable life! But in the face of this disease and in response to such tugs to give in to despair, Kevins responds, Oh, no. Its been a good life . Its been a good life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How my mother became my guardian angel is a bookbased on my life after losing my beautiful mother. I was 18 years old with an 8 month old baby not knowing where I was going to go. My life then became a huge struggle; I became homeless, physically and mentally abused. I started screaming and crying for my mother which took me into a dark grieving depression. The only person that took me out of that stage is the person I walk with everyday. His name is Jesus Christ a friend of mine who came and saved me in my darkest days. How my mother became my guardian angel is only the beginning of my brightest and beautiful days. My mother was such a strong beautiful black WOMAN whom GOD made with his delicate hands. After we all had lost our mother my family came to an ugly end. During my struggles and all my pain; I reached up and grabbed a hold of GOD's hand, but one thing our heavenly father did for me is brought my mother in my dreams over and over again. The sun was so pretty and bright the way she came into my life, but when I opened my eyes and saw the daylight it was time to put up my biggest fights. She helped me get through so many struggles and away from people that weren't right in my life. At first when I started dreaming of her I woke up saying, "Something isn't right." Until the day came when I noticed my dreams were only here to strengthen me throughout my life. My mother always told us that she wasn't going to be here forever, but before she leaves this place she wished we would all get it together. I was so young growing up listening to her repeat those words over and over, but one thing I did not know is how her death was the beginning of my deepest darkest struggles. So as you read my story, do yourself a favor and go put on your favorite robe, because once your done reading my story your worries should become very old. I'm dedicating this book to my mother because she could've gone upstairs to heaven and said my job on earth isfinally done. However, as a result of my struggles and screaming her name in pain, she came back in my life to help guide me until my strength I finally regained. I remember one dream I had with her, she was walking on grass sounding like glass "click, click, click", she was waving her hand and smiling at me telling me to tell everyone. I couldn't figure out that dream to save my life! However, after writing this book, now I can say; consider it a job well done!

Download or read book Love Conquers All written by Lenny and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2015-04-30 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you believe in miracles? Do you want to believe that Love (with a capital L) does indeed conquer all? Love Conquers All is a story about a white woman finding a long-lost black friend after twenty-eight years. Lenny has been incarcerated for more than nineteen plus years for six grab and dash robberies committed in six days while he was under the influence of alcohol and crack cocaine. Now facing two life sentences plus one hundred years, Lenny has been sentenced to die in prison even though there has not been one victim impact statement made against him. In their journey through his incarceration, her divorce, discovering cancer, and having major surgeries to prevent paralysis from the neck down, they fall inexplicably in Love with a capital L. But they must overcome huge obstacles, for both have received death sentences. Written in letter format, this story is raw, honest, and true-to-life in describing their spiritual transformations. It is a self-help manual, an examination of the brain and a testament to the power of our thoughts to create our reality. It is an honest exploration of many of the systems that make up our world: the criminal justice system, the healthcare system, religious systems, the education system, government systems, and the judicial system. It examines nature and mans relationship to it. It shows the family unit in all of its dysfunction and includes an examination of humanitys uglier side in terms of how it deals with racism, addiction, disparity, injustice, mental illness, obesity, apathy, complacency, and shame and sin. But more importantly, it is a story of redemption, gratitude, hope, and grace. This story offers a discovery of how miracles occur. It pays homage to the truth that Love does indeed conquer all.
