Book excerpt: Riveting, soulful, and courageously told, From My Mother is a meditation on grief, family, genetic disease and also a deeply personal account of the narrator's coming-of-age amid medical crisis and tragedy to carry on the lessons from her mother to raise her young son. A story of loss on many levels, From My Mother is a moving book that transforms suffering into art and inspiration. Leech weaves a beautiful tapestry of the enduring mysteries of what dormant harbingers of genetic disease may lurk within, the surprising possibilities in loss, and the deep resilience of the human spirit as the body weakens. From My Mother leaves the reader pondering the value of genetic testing, the beauty in a disease easy to accept as genetic fault, and the heart wrenching question of when life should be sustained by machine or ended by choice.

This book was released on 2015-03-23 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: EDITOR’S NOTE - ‘If you think you are too small to make a difference try sleeping with a mosquito.’ - H.H.The 14th Dalai Lama With these words let’s try to make a difference by contributing little by little to make a better world and to offer our best in our college’s magazine. After a long hiatus we finally present our Gangri-Langtso 2015. This edition we are offering is a special edition. This year we are dedicating our magazine to our Kind and Compassionate spiritual leader H.H.The Dalai Lama in honour of his grand 80th birthday. We are including some of his inspiring quotes which illuminate like a light in the darkness and articles to offer our gratitude to him. Our magazine is a mix of updates, creative expressions and talented work of the students. As student editors, our time has been a period of joy, learning, satisfaction and accomplishment combined with the challenge of creating a good book. These beautiful memories will last forever and they are truly meaningful and worth holding onto. We have experienced self growth alongside the development of this magazine. We thoroughly enjoyed editing, collecting and putting together the articles here. One can see the laughter, joy and struggle of students from thisinstitution in the pictures. This year we are privileged to have had great opportunity to learn the knowledge based on Buddhism, during a two day programme by H.E. Tromthok rinpoche. Medical students studied anatomy and physiology and diagnosis by doctors from Emory University and astro.students studied introduction to astrophysics from Sir Sidhu la. We also marked the success of the 2nd International Body, Mind and Life Conference which was started with the blessing of His Holiness the 14th Dalai ma. This year’s greatest achievement was the visit of the honourable Health Minister of Himachal Pradesh on our institute’s founding anniversary. It’s been a wonderful experience to work alongside a team of great minds and wonderful personalities and this magazine would not have been possible without the commitment, creativity and hardwork from all the members of the editorial team headed by our dignified advisors Dr Namdol Lhamo, Dr Pema Tsetso and TASP Tenzin Loden who has always guided us at every step of the way, with ever lasting patience and constant encouragement. Our sincere gratitude goes to our beloved advisors for their persistent support and guidance. A magazine or any kind of work is a product of a team work. From the director who provided us the opportunity and administrator with the financial support and students for the essays and advisors and editors to the printing press. These all contribute to our magazine and for which we are truly grateful. I would like to thank our friends for their creative articles which serves as the heart of the magazine. The magazine usually serve as a memento as we can carry it with us as we move on to our different chapters of our lives. We hope that this magazine will hold a treasured and cherished place by our readers. Tenzin Saldon 19th medical batch Editor

The freelance editor has moved to Sevier Oak and causes problems with the locals. When he brings books for trade-in, Garnet and Jane find a death certificate tucked inside. The deceased is a missing person from twenty years ago, and the mystery intensifies when someone murders Jacob behind the store. Download or read book Chinese Male Homosexualities written by Travis S. K. Kong and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2010-07-13 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a groundbreaking exploration of masculinities and homosexualities amongst Chinese gay men. It provides a sociological account of masculinity, desire, sexuality, identity and citizenship in contemporary Chinese societies, and within the constellation of global culture. Kong reports the results of an extensive ethnographic study of contemporary Chinese gay men in a wide range of different locations including mainland China, Hong Kong and the Chinese overseas community in London, showing how Chinese gay men live their everyday lives. Relating Chinese male homosexuality to the extensive social and cultural theories on gender, sexuality and the body, postcolonialism and globalisation, the book examines the idea of queer space and numerous 'queer flows' – of capital, bodies, ideas, images, and commodities – around the world. The book concludes that different gay male identities – such as the conspicuously consuming memba in Hong Kong, the urban tongzhi, the 'money boy' in China and the feminised 'golden boy' in London – emerge in different locations, and are all caught up in the transnational flow of queer cultures which are at once local and global.
