Book Ask a Manager

Download or read book Ask a Manager written by Alison Green and published by Ballantine Books. This book was released on 2018-05-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the creator of the popular website Ask a Manager and New York’s work-advice columnist comes a witty, practical guide to 200 difficult professional conversations—featuring all-new advice! There’s a reason Alison Green has been called “the Dear Abby of the work world.” Ten years as a workplace-advice columnist have taught her that people avoid awkward conversations in the office because they simply don’t know what to say. Thankfully, Green does—and in this incredibly helpful book, she tackles the tough discussions you may need to have during your career. You’ll learn what to say when • coworkers push their work on you—then take credit for it • you accidentally trash-talk someone in an email then hit “reply all” • you’re being micromanaged—or not being managed at all • you catch a colleague in a lie • your boss seems unhappy with your work • your cubemate’s loud speakerphone is making you homicidal • you got drunk at the holiday party Praise for Ask a Manager “A must-read for anyone who works . . . [Alison Green’s] advice boils down to the idea that you should be professional (even when others are not) and that communicating in a straightforward manner with candor and kindness will get you far, no matter where you work.”—Booklist (starred review) “The author’s friendly, warm, no-nonsense writing is a pleasure to read, and her advice can be widely applied to relationships in all areas of readers’ lives. Ideal for anyone new to the job market or new to management, or anyone hoping to improve their work experience.”—Library Journal (starred review) “I am a huge fan of Alison Green’s Ask a Manager column. This book is even better. It teaches us how to deal with many of the most vexing big and little problems in our workplaces—and to do so with grace, confidence, and a sense of humor.”—Robert Sutton, Stanford professor and author of The No Asshole Rule and The Asshole Survival Guide “Ask a Manager is the ultimate playbook for navigating the traditional workforce in a diplomatic but firm way.”—Erin Lowry, author of Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping By and Get Your Financial Life Together

Book Politicians Gaslighting Americans

Download or read book Politicians Gaslighting Americans written by Dennis Gravelle and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2023-10-25 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book Across this country, we seem to have elite politicians and big corporations telling us they should be trusted and that “We the People” should be little sheep and remain quiet so a new world order can be created. They don’t need our input since they already know what we want. Mainstream media programs always want to get the experts' advice, so they get high-profile politicians to talk down to Americans. It is sad because most of America has become brainwashed. That includes Democrat and Republican constituents. Several of us see through the lies and are becoming more vocal. This is a book where you, the citizens of this great country, tell everyone how we really feel about where this country is heading. Politicians should read this and understand that we are fed up with the lack of action from them. This book is easy to read; the chapters are not long enough to bore you. This book is dedicated to all those individuals who took the time to answer the questions I asked over several months. This book covers current hot topics in America that are sure to affect our future. Basically, this book is by the people, for the people, and shares the opinions of the Soldiers that I interviewed. I am sure that Jack and I will be criticized by some for these topics. We don’t care; we must wake people up before we lose our basic rights and freedoms. These fed-up citizens who kindly agreed to be interviewed are Patriots, and without them, we could not have completed this book. Jack and I are just the conduit; everyone who shared their stories made writing this book for all people an amazing and rewarding experience. About the Author Dennis Gravelle and Jack Young are forming a minor political party in South Carolina called the Independent Constitutional Party. They feel you must be the one to stand out in front and be a leader in politics, rather than sit and complain. Gravelle loves to golf, go on walks, going to the beach or watching a local band with a great friend Madeline. Trying different restaurants for dinner is also a great way to meet people, especially here in Myrtle Beach SC. As a veteran, he’s a local member of the VFW. Gravelle has a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety and Emergency Management and a Master of Science in Leadership with an emphasis in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. After 9/11, he rejoined the military in the NY Army National Guard as a photojournalist service one year in Iraq writing stories about the amazing men and women Soldiers serving in a war zone.

Book Too Much Loss Coping with Grief Overload

Download or read book Too Much Loss Coping with Grief Overload written by Alan Wolfelt and published by Companion Press. This book was released on 2020-09-01 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grief overload is what you feel when you experience too many significant losses all at once, in a relatively short period of time, or cumulatively. In addition to the deaths of loved ones, such losses can also include divorce, estrangement, illness, relocation, job changes, and more. Our minds and hearts have enough trouble coping with a single loss, so when the losses pile up, the grief often seems especially chaotic and defeating. The good news is that through intentional, active mourning, you can and will find your way back to hope and healing. This compassionate guide will show you how.

Book 50 Years as a U S Immigrant

Download or read book 50 Years as a U S Immigrant written by Svein Jenshus and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-04-25 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My fore-father Vikings arrived in North America in ships like this one over 300 years before Columbus and you'll find the historic facts in this book. I arrived in a more modern vessel. My son Earl S. Jenshus designed both the cover, showing a likeness of "our Stavangerford" and the back page. He is an international known graphic artist. Reading these pages you may learn a little Hawaiian, learn how to shoot birds on the wing, train dogs, buy the "pick-of-the-litter", shotgun safety. How to make money investing in real estate and how to look at the similarities of languages instead of the differences. You can learn how to hypnotize chicken! More useful might be the secret of how to pronounce a-multi-syllable word the first time you see it (!) and how to have a long and happy marriage in the process. It covers 80 plus years of living on two continents, 50+ of them in different states in the USA, starting as a penniless immigrant in Brooklyn N.Y., working in different fields before I found my niche in sales. Including as well are hundreds of years of history, part of which I have actually lived and more still of what I have learned being an avid reader since early childhood.

Book A Criminological Biography of an Arms Dealer

Download or read book A Criminological Biography of an Arms Dealer written by Yarin Eski and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-01-31 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many, the arms trade and its dealers are the root cause of regional wars and global terrorism. In both public and academic debates, arms dealers are considered immoral as they profit from conflict, due to their key position in the international arms trading business. Nevertheless, there seems to be little to no interest in the personal lives of those actively involved. In his criminological biography of a licensed arms dealer, Yarin Eski provides an in-depth, interdisciplinary approach to and understanding of the global arms trade, revealing a deep insider view placed in a wider sociocultural context. From early discussions about childhood and career choices, to reflections on becoming and being an arms trader, Eski offers a methodologically embedded approach and advances biographical writing in the field of Criminology. It is a unique and thought-provoking contribution to the fields of criminology, ethnography, sociology, critical security studies, policing studies, war studies and international politics and offers an unparalleled insight from within.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.
