Book Natural Gas Hydrates

Download or read book Natural Gas Hydrates written by John Carroll and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2009-07-10 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The petroleum industry spends millions of dollars every year to combat the formation of hydrates-the solid, crystalline compounds that form from water and small molecules-that cause problems by plugging transmission lines and damaging equipment. They are a problem in the production, transmission and processing of natural gas, and it is even possible for them to form in the reservoir itself if the conditions are favorable. Natural Gas Hydrates is written for the field engineer working in the natural gas industry. This book explains how, when and where hydrates form, while providing the knowledge necessary to apply remedies in practical applications. New to the second edition, the use of new inhibitors: Kinetic Inhibitors and Anticoagulants and the topic of kinetics of hydrates. How fast do they form? How fast do they melt? New chapters on Hydrates in Nature, hydrates on the seafloor and a new section has also been added regarding the misconceptions about water dew points. Chapters on Hydrate Types and Formers, Computer Methods, Inhibiting Hydrate Formation with Chemicals, Dehydration of Natural Gas and Phase Diagrams Hydrate Dehydration of Natural Gas and Phase Diagrams have been expanded and updated along with the companion website. Understand what gas hydrates are, how they form and what can be done to combat their formation Avoid the same problems BP experienced with clogged pipelines Presents the four most common approaches to evaluate hydrates: heat, depressurization, inhibitor chemicals, and dehydration

Book Method for Production of Hydrocarbons from Hydrates

Download or read book Method for Production of Hydrocarbons from Hydrates written by and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method of recovering natural gas entrapped in frozen subsurface gas hydrate formations in arctic regions. A hot supersaturated solution of CaCl.sub. 2 or CaBr.sub. 2, or a mixture thereof, is pumped under pressure down a wellbore and into a subsurface hydrate formation so as to hydrostatically fracture the formation. The CaCl.sub. 2 /CaBr.sub. 2 solution dissolves the solid hydrates and thereby releases the gas entrapped therein. Additionally, the solution contains a polymeric viscosifier, which operates to maintain in suspension finely divided crystalline CaCl.sub. 2 /CaBr.sub. 2 that precipitates from the supersaturated solution as it is cooled during injection into the formation.

Download or read book Gas Hydrates written by Boopathy Gopalakrishnan and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's energy system is dependent only on hydrocarbons, especially oil, but increasingly also natural gas. Eighty per cent of the current global energy supply is of fossil origin.Gas hydrates (clathrates) are ice-like compounds in which gas molecules are held in crystalline cages formed by water molecules. They are widespread in areas of permafrost and in the continental margins where pressure and temperature conditions are appropriate for their formation. Methane hydrates are an energy source of potentially staggering magnitude compared with other known hydrocarbon deposits. This type of energy resources can be used as alternate fuel.A variety of gas hydrate research programs are currently underway in different parts of the world, and a listing of all of them is beyond the scope of this article. For Students and research scholars involved in alternate energy exploration this book will be very useful.

Book C4 Hydrocarbons and Derivatives

Download or read book C4 Hydrocarbons and Derivatives written by Joachim Schulze and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book treats the C -hydrocarbons and their secondary products as a contribution 4 to chemical engineering economics, applying this field of teaching and research to the technical processes for making and processing this group of products, so important to the chemical industry. As early as tpe 1950s the then director of the Institute for Technical Chemistry of the Berlin Technical University, Professor Herbert Kolbel, took the' initiative in the domain of Chemical Engineering Economics and began systematic studies of Project Engineering and Cost Estimation in connection with chemical plants. He also started a course on technical chemical processes in 1966. Properties, production procedures, plant equipment, and also the uses of technically interesting products are the central features of Chemical Technology. The information is to be found in the large encyclopedias of Technical Chemistry. On the other hand, Chemical Engineering Economics deals with all the economic conditions of usage of the raw materials, possibilities of utilizing co-products, and the integration of these products into definite production programmes, from the stand point of the chemical and technical fundamentals of the processes. Further important viewpoints are the costs of the products, taking into consideration important and variable influences on these costs, the situation and development of the market for the products and, of increasing significance, also the ecological global conditions for procuring raw materials and the production and marketing of the particular products.
