Book Hungry People Better Results

Download or read book Hungry People Better Results written by Deepak Malhotra and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-11-10 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great people leaders always work towards improvement. They keep working on their 'hunger' to be continually successful. The power of these leaders is only to settle for the best, as for these leaders - power of life is in continual progression. They have broken the shackles, and made impossible into I M possible. They have looked at things around them differently, and we too, will be motivated to look at things around us differently through this book. These leaders will help you make your journey a success, and also rewrite your own history. Hungry People, Better Results is the voyage to study the waves of extrinsic entrepreneurial leadership traits which affect the special impetus of teams. This would also take into account the impact of leadership styles and traits on the overall productivity, from a people leader's angle. Good news is that most of these traits can be developed over a period of time. This book and the author help you to ignite this 'fire' continually. Each trait and each leader would take you closer to success, happiness, and gratification. The book may lead you to a completely different world. This empirical journey is incomplete, unless you unlearn, re-learn, and discover the power of these leaders and their learning. The author interacted with a lot of leaders covered in the book, out of whom, some are: Padma Shri & Padma Bhushan Ms. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson & Managing Director, Biocon Limited Mr Harsh Vardhan Goenka, Chairman, RPG Enterprise Padma Shri. Mr. Harsh Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja. Mr Anurag Batra, Chairman, Business World Mr Ravi Shastri, Head Coach, Indian Cricket team Dr Adil Malia, Business and HR Leader

Book The Ideal Team Player

Download or read book The Ideal Team Player written by Patrick M. Lencioni and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-04-25 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his classic book, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Patrick Lencioni laid out a groundbreaking approach for tackling the perilous group behaviors that destroy teamwork. Here he turns his focus to the individual, revealing the three indispensable virtues of an ideal team player. In The Ideal Team Player, Lencioni tells the story of Jeff Shanley, a leader desperate to save his uncle’s company by restoring its cultural commitment to teamwork. Jeff must crack the code on the virtues that real team players possess, and then build a culture of hiring and development around those virtues. Beyond the fable, Lencioni presents a practical framework and actionable tools for identifying, hiring, and developing ideal team players. Whether you’re a leader trying to create a culture around teamwork, a staffing professional looking to hire real team players, or a team player wanting to improve yourself, this book will prove to be as useful as it is compelling.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year From an obesity and neuroscience researcher with a knack for engaging, humorous storytelling, The Hungry Brain uses cutting-edge science to answer the questions: why do we overeat, and what can we do about it? No one wants to overeat. And certainly no one wants to overeat for years, become overweight, and end up with a high risk of diabetes or heart disease--yet two thirds of Americans do precisely that. Even though we know better, we often eat too much. Why does our behavior betray our own intentions to be lean and healthy? The problem, argues obesity and neuroscience researcher Stephan J. Guyenet, is not necessarily a lack of willpower or an incorrect understanding of what to eat. Rather, our appetites and food choices are led astray by ancient, instinctive brain circuits that play by the rules of a survival game that no longer exists. And these circuits don’t care about how you look in a bathing suit next summer. To make the case, The Hungry Brain takes readers on an eye-opening journey through cutting-edge neuroscience that has never before been available to a general audience. The Hungry Brain delivers profound insights into why the brain undermines our weight goals and transforms these insights into practical guidelines for eating well and staying slim. Along the way, it explores how the human brain works, revealing how this mysterious organ makes us who we are.

By the end of 2015, biofortified staple foods had reached approximately 15 million people. The successful Together for Nutrition initiative expanded from India to Ethiopia, bringing together a range of nutrition stakeholders. Our research portfolio is expanding to include food systems and we are exploring new collaborations with public health partners. Our country and regional engagement contributes to agricultural programs and policies that can better achieve nutrition and health impacts. We also hear loud and clear from the development community that achieving these outcomes is a priority, and that doing so at scale requires making agriculture and other sectors more nutrition and health-sensitive.

Book excerpt: The 2017 Global Hunger Index (GHI) report—the twelfth in an annual series—presents a multidimensional measure of hunger at the global, regional, and national levels. It shows that the world has made progress in reducing hunger since 2000, but that this progress has been uneven, with levels of hunger still serious or alarming in 51 countries and extremely alarming in one country. This year’s report shines a light on the inequalities underlying hunger—including geographic, income, and gender inequality—and the inequalities of social, political, and economic power in which they are rooted.

Book Feeding the Hungry

Download or read book Feeding the Hungry written by Michelle Jurkovich and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2020-10-15 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Food insecurity poses one of the most pressing development and human security challenges in the world. In Feeding the Hungry, Michelle Jurkovich examines the social and normative environments in which international anti-hunger organizations are working and argues that despite international law ascribing responsibility to national governments to ensure the right to food of their citizens, there is no shared social consensus on who ought to do what to solve the hunger problem. Drawing on interviews with staff at top international anti-hunger organizations as well as archival research at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the UK National Archives, and the U.S. National Archives, Jurkovich provides a new analytic model of transnational advocacy. In investigating advocacy around a critical economic and social right—the right to food—Jurkovich challenges existing understandings of the relationships among human rights, norms, and laws. Most important, Feeding the Hungry provides an expanded conceptual tool kit with which we can examine and understand the social and moral forces at play in rights advocacy.

Book Intermittent Fasting for Hungry People

Download or read book Intermittent Fasting for Hungry People written by Michelle Stacey and published by Centennial Books. This book was released on 2021-01-05 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Weight gain is a problem for most of us, especially during the holidays. Some may not be happy with that newly found weight and will be ready for some fasting! What if you could follow an eating plan (not a diet!) that helps you lose weight and burn body fat, improve your overall health—including cardiovascular, metabolic, insulin and blood sugar, brain function and anti-aging—while allowing you to eat your favorite foods most of the time? Intermittent fasting does all of that, which is why it is now the fastest-growing eating lifestyle. Fasting itself has a history that goes back millennia: the ancient Greeks used it for health and mental clarity, and all the major religions include some form of spiritual fasting. Today’s fasting offers two new twists: reams of science and clinical studies showing why and how it works, and various plans that incorporate intermittent periods of fasting, making it much more sustainable (and even enjoyable). This updated guide begins with a deep dive into how intermittent fasting works in your body, producing just enough occasional cellular stress to make you stronger, while lowering insulin to “unlock” your fat stores so you can burn them off. Then we present the nuts and bolts of following four different kinds of fasting, from time-restricted (eating within an 8-hour window) to alternate-day to the Warrior plan (one meal a day). Readers will learn strategies for how to start and break their fasts, how to choose the best form for them, what to do about hunger (it’s not as hard as you think!), getting past stuck points, using the right supplements, and dealing with side effects. Finally, we offer inspiration: stories of both “regular folks” and celebrities who swear by fasting, and an exploration of the way it can change your relationship with food and eating.

Book excerpt: "Nothing less than astonishing..."—Booklist (starred review) From a renowned international journalist comes a galvanizing international bestseller about mankind's oldest, most persistent, and most brutal problem—world hunger. There are now over 800 million starving people in the world. An average of 25,000 men and women, and in particular children, perish from hunger every day. Yet we produce enough food to feed the entire human population one-and-a-half times over. So why is it that world hunger remains such a deadly problem? In this crucial and inspiring work, award-winning author Martín Caparrós travels the globe in search of an answer. His investigation brings him to Africa and the Indian subcontinent where he witnesses starvation first-hand; to Chicago where he documents the greed of corporate food distributors; and to Buenos Aires where he accompanies trash scavengers in search of something to eat. An international bestseller when it first appeared, this first-ever English language edition has been updated by Caparrós to consider whether conditions that have improved or worsened since the book's European publication. With its deep reflections and courageous journalism, Caparrós has created a powerful and empathic work that remains committed to ending humankind's longest ongoing crisis.

Book Still Hungry in America

Download or read book Still Hungry in America written by Robert Coles and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 2018-03-01 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1969, the documentary evidence of poverty and malnutrition in the American South showcased in Still Hungry in America still resonates today. The work was created to complement a July 1967 U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Employment, Manpower, and Poverty hearings on hunger in America. At those hearings, witnesses documented examples of deprivation afflicting hundreds of thousands of American families. The most powerful testimonies came from the authors of this profoundly disturbing and important book. Al Clayton’s sensitive camerawork enabled the subcommittee members to see the agonizing results of insufficient food and improper diet, rendered graphically in stunted, weakened and fractured bones, dry, shrunken, and ulcerated skin, wasting muscles, and bloated legs and abdomens. Physician and child psychiatrist Robert Coles, who had worked with these populations for many years, described with fierce clarity the medical and psychological effects of hunger. Coles’s powerful narrative, reinforced by heartbreaking interviews with impoverished people and accompanied by 101 photographs taken by Clayton in Appalachia, rural Mississippi, and Atlanta, Georgia, convey the plight of the millions of hungry citizens in the most affluent nation on earth. A new foreword by historian Thomas J. Ward Jr. analyzes food insecurity among today’s rural and urban poor and frames the current crisis in the American diet not as a scarcity of food but as an overabundance of empty calories leading to obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
