Book Information Hiding

Download or read book Information Hiding written by Jan Camenisch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-09-18 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings contain the 25 papers that were accepted for presentation at the Eighth Information Hiding Conference, held July 10-12, 2006 in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The paperswere selectedby the ProgramCommittee from more than 70 submissions on the basis of their novelty, originality, and scienti?c merit. We aregratefulto allauthorswho submitted their workforconsideration. The papers were divided into ten sessions [Watermarking, Information Hiding and Networking, Data Hiding in Unusual Content (2 sessions), Fundamentals, Software Protection, Steganalysis, Steganography (2 sessions), and Subliminal Channels], showing the breadth of research in the?eld. This year was an imp- tant one in the history of the IHW: "Workshop" was dropped from the name to show that the?eld has matured andthat the conference has become the premier venue for the dissemination of new results. The conference employed a double-blind reviewing process. Each paper was examined by at least three reviewers. Papers submitted by ProgramCommittee members were held to a higher standard. We relied on the advice of outside colleagues and would like to extend our thanks for their contribution to the paper selection process and their dedication to excellence in research.

Book Advances in Cyber Security Principles Techniques and Applications

Download or read book Advances in Cyber Security Principles Techniques and Applications written by Kuan-Ching Li and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-06 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides state-of-the-art coverage of the principles, techniques, and management of issues in cyber security, including threat attacks, privacy, signature and encryption schemes. One of the most important topics addressed concerns lightweight solutions for public key encryption in resource-constrained environments; the book highlights the latest developments in this area. Authentication is another central issue in cyber security. In this book, we address this aspect and sub-aspects ranging from cryptographic approaches to practical design issues, such as CAPTCHA. Privacy is another main topic that is discussed in detail, from techniques for enhancing privacy to pseudonymous schemes. Addressing key issues in the emerging field of cyber security, this book effectively bridges the gap between computer security and threat attacks, and showcases promising applications involving cryptography and security.

Book excerpt: The 2004 Information Security Conference was the seventh in a series that started with the Information Security Workshop in 1997. A distinct feature of this series is the wide coverage of topics with the aim of encouraging interaction between researchers in di?erent aspects of information security. This trend c- tinuedintheprogramofthisyear’sconference.Theprogramcommitteereceived 106 submissions, from which 36 were selected for presentation. Each submission was reviewed by at least three experts in the relevant research area. We would liketothankalltheauthorsfortakingtheirtimetopreparethesubmissions, and wehopethatthosewhosepapersweredeclinedwillbeableto?ndanalternative forum for their work. We were fortunate to have an energetic team of experts who took on the task of the program committee. Their names may be found overleaf, and we thank them warmly for their time and e?orts. This team was helped by an even larger number of external reviewers who reviewed papers in their particular areas of expertise. A list of these names is also provided, which we hope is complete. We would also like to thank the advisory committee for their advice and s- port.TheexcellentlocalarrangementswerehandledbyDirkBalfanzandJessica Staddon. We made use of the electronic submission and reviewing software s- plied by COSIC at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Both the software and the ISC 2004 website were run on a server at UNC Charlotte, and were perfectly maintained by Seung-Hyun Im. We also appreciate assistance from Lawrence Teo in editing the proceedings.

Book Handbook of Information and Communication Security

Download or read book Handbook of Information and Communication Security written by Peter Stavroulakis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-02-23 with total page 863 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At its core, information security deals with the secure and accurate transfer of information. While information security has long been important, it was, perhaps, brought more clearly into mainstream focus with the so-called “Y2K” issue. Te Y2K scare was the fear that c- puter networks and the systems that are controlled or operated by sofware would fail with the turn of the millennium, since their clocks could lose synchronization by not recognizing a number (instruction) with three zeros. A positive outcome of this scare was the creation of several Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) around the world that now work - operatively to exchange expertise and information, and to coordinate in case major problems should arise in the modern IT environment. Te terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 raised security concerns to a new level. Te - ternational community responded on at least two fronts; one front being the transfer of reliable information via secure networks and the other being the collection of information about - tential terrorists. As a sign of this new emphasis on security, since 2001, all major academic publishers have started technical journals focused on security, and every major communi- tions conference (for example, Globecom and ICC) has organized workshops and sessions on security issues. In addition, the IEEE has created a technical committee on Communication and Information Security. Te ?rst editor was intimately involved with security for the Athens Olympic Games of 2004.
