This book first answers the question 'Where do I start?' with step-by-step instructions on how to spend time with God and practical ideas for experiencing him more fully. Second, it highlights the benefits of spending time with God, including joy, victory over sin, and spiritual guidance. Third, this book inspires and motivates those who already have a quiet time to press ahead and grow in their intimacy with God. An Appointment with the King discusses personal priorities, the use of Scripture, listening, place and time of day, meditation, increased power in prayer, and other helpful topics related to daily quiet time. The book will help Christians tap into God?'s resources on a daily basis, so that even in the midst of busyness they can walk with him in intimacy and abundance. This book will teach you how to spend quality time with God each day, refreshing your soul and preparing you for the day ahead. Book Divine Appointments

Download or read book Divine Appointments written by David Scott and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-08-04 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the age of seventy-six with my health failing, I wrote this autobiography to help others learn from my past experiences. It is my testimony about God's grace, mercy, faithfulness, patience, love, salvation, healing, deliverance, and particularly His sovereignty. Because of God's sovereignty, my life has been a series of divine appointments. Looking back, I can now see how God was watching over my life, even before I experienced His saving grace. I made several serious mistakes in my walk with God, which I hope will help the reader learn from my errors. You will find my experiences with God to be encouraging, informative, enlightening, inspiring, and protective regarding the many spiritual landmines the kingdom of darkness lays to harm us. God has worked in my life in such a way that He has combined what I did as a private detective before my conversion to Jesus Christ with the ministry He called me to after His saving grace delivered me from occult deception. The things I learned from each divine appointment will help the reader not only grow in your personal relationship with God but also to understand political and economic forces that are trying to enslave the world under the Antichrist.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In God Will Make a Way, Bishop Ken Carter shares reflections from his journey from the 2016 General Conference, through his leadership in The Way Forward, his role as Presiding Bishop, into the special 2019 Conference, and the postponed 2020 General Conference in the midst of a pandemic. The book is both a spiritual journey and an inside view of one of the most tumultuous periods of national and denominational history. Carter casts his personal spiritual reflections against a backdrop of life-shaping events: the first Way Forward meetings, the tragedy at Mother Emmanuel, interactions with Kenneth Feinberg, Jurgen Moltmann, and others, the Pulse and Parkland shootings, and more. Throughout, the high points are experiences and conversations between people, often from dramatically different stances, who find common ground, new understanding, and hope while the dark times are from conflict-inspired anger, national violence, and shaken hope.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No Future in This Country: The Prophetic Pessimism of Bishop Henry McNeal Turner is a history of the career of Bishop Henry McNeal Turner (1834–1915), specifically focusing on his work from 1896 to 1915. Drawing on the copious amount of material from Turner’s speeches, editorial, and open and private letters, Andre E. Johnson tells a story of how Turner provided rhetorical leadership during a period in which America defaulted on many of the rights and privileges gained for African Americans during Reconstruction. Unlike many of his contemporaries during this period, Turner did not opt to proclaim an optimistic view of race relations. Instead, Johnson argues that Turner adopted a prophetic persona of a pessimistic prophet who not only spoke truth to power but, in so doing, also challenged and pushed African Americans to believe in themselves. At this time in his life, Turner had no confidence in American institutions or that the American people would live up to the promises outlined in their sacred documents. While he argued that emigration was the only way for African Americans to retain their “personhood” status, he also would come to believe that African Americans would never emigrate to Africa. He argued that many African Americans were so oppressed and so stripped of agency because they were surrounded by continued negative assessments of their personhood that belief in emigration was not possible. Turner’s position limited his rhetorical options, but by adopting a pessimistic prophetic voice that bore witness to the atrocities African Americans faced, Turner found space for his oratory, which reflected itself within the lament tradition of prophecy.
