Book Moisture Control Guidance for Building Design Construction and Maintenance

Download or read book Moisture Control Guidance for Building Design Construction and Maintenance written by American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers and published by . This book was released on 2016-06-21 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Moisture control is fundamental to the proper functioning of any building. Controlling moisture is important to protect occupants from adverse health effects and to protect the building, its mechanical systems and its contents from physical or chemical damage. Yet, moisture problems are so common in buildings, many people consider them inevitable. Excessive moisture accumulation plagues buildings throughout the United States, from tropical Hawaii to arctic Alaska and from the hot, humid Gulf Coast to the hot, dry Sonoran Desert. Between 1994 and 1998, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Building Assessment Survey and Evaluation (BASE) study collected information about the indoor air quality of 100 randomly selected public and private office buildings in the 10 U.S. climatic regions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infrared Thermography (IRT) is commonly as a NDE tool to identify damages and provide remedial action. The fields of application are vast, such as, materials science, life sciences and applied engineering. This book offers a collection of ten chapters with three major sections - relating to application of infrared thermography to study problems in materials science, agriculture, veterinary and sports fields as well as in engineering applications. Both mathematical modeling and experimental aspects of IRT are evenly discussed in this book. It is our sincere hope that the book meets the requirements of researchers in the domain and inspires more researchers to study IRT.

Book Inspect and Protect

Download or read book Inspect and Protect written by Keith Swift, Ph.D and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-10-16 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspect and Protect was written as a protocol for avoiding litigation, for building inspectors. It is comprised of dozens of essays that were written and published in various magazines, in which inspectors were warned about the threat that litigation poses to their livelihoods. If all litigation was fair and honest there would be no need for concern, but it is not, as this book documents with actual case histories. And, unfortunately, the threat is growing. The good news is that it takes very little effort for inspectors to protect themselves; it is simply a matter of understanding the threat, and then making a few fundamental changes in the way they inspect and report on properties.

Book Nondestructive Evaluation of Moisture Intrusion in Missile Components

Download or read book Nondestructive Evaluation of Moisture Intrusion in Missile Components written by Daniel J. Pomerening and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Field return data for the SPARROW III/AIM-7 missile have indicated that moisture intrusion into the target seeker has occurred. A program was initiated to determine the controlling parameters in the moisture intrusion problem and develop recommendations for modifications to the design of the seeker section. Testing was performed to determine parameters associated with target seeker geometry. Using the test results, a thermodynamic model of the system was developed which allowed for simulation of a variety of environmental conditions and geometry changes. The results indicated that the driving factors in the level of moisture intrusion were the rate of change of environmental temperature, the leakage path area, and significant differences between the thermal response of the electronics packaged and the outer shell. It was possible to match the results of the thermodynamic model with those of the experiments. Proposed modifications to the target seeker were made and results checked with the thermodynamic model. Areas requiring additional testing and analysis are discussed. Keywords: Air to air missiles; Leakage(Fluid); Guided missile components; Humidity testing; Thermodynamic model. (edc).
