While becoming an analyst may seem be an eminently cumbersome, expensive, time consuming, and daunting undertaking in the digital era, it is more viable than ever before. Much to the relief of prospective analysts, it is possible to become an analyst at a young age and the journey to becoming an analyst is not as lengthy as the duration of the journey to pursuing other occupations, such as a medical doctor or attorney. Even though someone who is talented at consulting has the latent potential to become an analyst at a young age, the pathway to becoming an analyst is not easy to undergo and is fraught with ample challenges. The journey to becoming a successful analyst is a pathway that is seldomly tread down by most people, especially since it is eminently cumbersome to become a successful analyst in a hyper competitive analyst market in which analysts are vying to win over clients. Analysts need to possess strong analytical skills, solid technical skills, stellar research skills, stupendous business acumen, topnotch marketing shrewdness, unalloyed ingenuity, substantial knowledge about their niche field, effective communications skills, robust presentation skills, strong communication skills, and the unalloyed tenacity to ensure that they exceed client expectations. Analysts are often deferred for their meticulous analyses that are able to pinpoint patterns and trends in data which allows them to identify areas of improvement in their business clients' enterprises. By being able to ascertain identify areas of improvement, analysts can subsequently develop "actionable road maps for improving workflows and processes, and can also even establish and organize key performance indicators in line with global directives". The responsibilities of an analyst are multitudinous and fulfilling the ample responsibilities of an analyst is not for the faint of heart. Similarly to consultants, analysts are also often overwhelmed with ample responsibilities that they are expected to diligently, competently, meticulously, and prudently carry out. "The analyst works with the business to identify opportunities for improvement in business operations and processes. The analyst is involved in the design or modification of business systems or information technology systems. Book excerpt: This essay sheds light on how to become a stockbroker, how to find clients as a stockbroker, and how to be successful as a stockbroker. Moreover, how to generate extreme wealth online on social media platforms by consistently creating lucrative income generating assets is elaborated upon. Additionally, the utmost best income generating assets to profusely produce in order to be able to generate extreme wealth online in the digital era are identified, how to become a staggeringly successful influencer online on social media platforms in the digital era is elucidated, the numerous benefits of becoming a successful influencer online and attaining extreme fame leverage are demystified, and how to earn substantial money online so that you afford to significantly enrich every facet of your life is meticulously expounded upon in this essay. While becoming a stockbroker may seem to be an eminently daunting task, it is anything but overwhelming. While prospective stockbrokers have a proclivity to earn to a bachelor's degree in finance, it is unnecessary to attain a university degree prior to the advent of finding a sponsoring brokerage firm to work for. Brokerage firms provide training to their prospective stockbrokers and expect their prospective stockbrokers to "pass the Series 7 and Series 63 exams. Stockbrokers must hold certain securities licenses in order to buy and sell stocks. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) oversees stockbroker registration and licensure. In order to register as a representative of their brokerage firm, stockbrokers must pass specific exams administered by FINRA. Stockbrokers are first required to pass the Series 7 and Series 63 exams. Each 'series' exam allows representatives to perform certain functions for their brokerage, and stockbrokers can take additional exams to demonstrate their expertise in a type of investment or financial service" (Grant, 2019). In order to become more apt to hired by a sponsoring brokerage firm, ample prospective stockbrokers will even be pursuant of a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or Master's degree in finance even though it is deemed unnecessary to hold any graduate degree or undergraduate to be able to become a stockbroker. In order to bolster their financial knowledge, prospective stockbrokers will even pursue an internship at a brokerage firm in order to learn about volatile financial markets, investment strategies, market regulations, and the latest accounting practices. Prospective stockbrokers that have amassed substantial financial knowledge will be all the more poised to successfully "pass their Series 7 and Series 63 examinations" (Grant, 2019) and become full fledged stockbrokers. Passing these aforementioned examinations that are necessary to become a full fledged stockbroker is not for the faint of heart and is anything but simple. "The Series 7 exam is difficult and consists of 125 multiple choice questions that must be completed in 225 minutes. It must be combined with a separate Securities Industry Essentials Exam, which consists of 75 questions and lasts 105 minutes. These exams will permit a broker to buy and sell most securities, may be other exams required to trade certain things. For example, someone who wants to buy and sell municipal bonds may have to take the Series 53 exam. There are also other required exams, including the Series 66 and Series 63 exams, to be registered in various states" (Lemke, 2019).Stockbrokers typically work long hours for their brokerage firms and need to build their clientele in order to boost their revenue. Stockbrokers generate revenue through commission on trades of securities, such as stocks or exchange-traded funds. Brokerage firms that offer commission free equity trades, such as E*Trade, Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, or Fidelity, have rendered the need to leverage a stockbroker over the phone to undergo trades of securities all the less enticing.

Book Principles of Financial Engineering

Download or read book Principles of Financial Engineering written by Robert Kosowski and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-11-26 with total page 893 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Principles of Financial Engineering, Third Edition, is a highly acclaimed text on the fast-paced and complex subject of financial engineering. This updated edition describes the "engineering" elements of financial engineering instead of the mathematics underlying it. It shows how to use financial tools to accomplish a goal rather than describing the tools themselves. It lays emphasis on the engineering aspects of derivatives (how to create them) rather than their pricing (how they act) in relation to other instruments, the financial markets, and financial market practices. This volume explains ways to create financial tools and how the tools work together to achieve specific goals. Applications are illustrated using real-world examples. It presents three new chapters on financial engineering in topics ranging from commodity markets to financial engineering applications in hedge fund strategies, correlation swaps, structural models of default, capital structure arbitrage, contingent convertibles, and how to incorporate counterparty risk into derivatives pricing. Poised midway between intuition, actual events, and financial mathematics, this book can be used to solve problems in risk management, taxation, regulation, and above all, pricing. A solutions manual enhances the text by presenting additional cases and solutions to exercises. This latest edition of Principles of Financial Engineering is ideal for financial engineers, quantitative analysts in banks and investment houses, and other financial industry professionals. It is also highly recommended to graduate students in financial engineering and financial mathematics programs. - The Third Edition presents three new chapters on financial engineering in commodity markets, financial engineering applications in hedge fund strategies, correlation swaps, structural models of default, capital structure arbitrage, contingent convertibles and how to incorporate counterparty risk into derivatives pricing, among other topics - Additions, clarifications, and illustrations throughout the volume show these instruments at work instead of explaining how they should act - The solutions manual enhances the text by presenting additional cases and solutions to exercises

Book The War on Normal People

Download or read book The War on Normal People written by Andrew Yang and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New York Times bestseller from CNN Political Commentator and 2020 former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, this thought-provoking and prescient call-to-action outlines the urgent steps America must take, including Universal Basic Income (UBI), to stabilize our economy amid rapid technological change and automation. The shift toward automation is about to create a tsunami of unemployment. Not in the distant future--now. One recent estimate predicts 45 million American workers will lose their jobs within the next twelve years--jobs that won't be replaced. In a future marked by restlessness and chronic unemployment, what will happen to American society? In The War on Normal People, Andrew Yang paints a dire portrait of the American economy. Rapidly advancing technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics and automation software are making millions of Americans' livelihoods irrelevant. The consequences of these trends are already being felt across our communities in the form of political unrest, drug use, and other social ills. The future looks dire-but is it unavoidable? In The War on Normal People, Yang imagines a different future--one in which having a job is distinct from the capacity to prosper and seek fulfillment. At this vision's core is Universal Basic Income, the concept of providing all citizens with a guaranteed income-and one that is rapidly gaining popularity among forward-thinking politicians and economists. Yang proposes that UBI is an essential step toward a new, more durable kind of economy, one he calls "human capitalism."

Book excerpt: The Sumerians, the pragmatic and gifted people who preceded the Semites in the land first known as Sumer and later as Babylonia, created what was probably the first high civilization in the history of man, spanning the fifth to the second millenniums B.C. This book is an unparalleled compendium of what is known about them. Professor Kramer communicates his enthusiasm for his subject as he outlines the history of the Sumerian civilization and describes their cities, religion, literature, education, scientific achievements, social structure, and psychology. Finally, he considers the legacy of Sumer to the ancient and modern world. "There are few scholars in the world qualified to write such a book, and certainly Kramer is one of them. . . . One of the most valuable features of this book is the quantity of texts and fragments which are published for the first time in a form available to the general reader. For the layman the book provides a readable and up-to-date introduction to a most fascinating culture. For the specialist it presents a synthesis with which he may not agree but from which he will nonetheless derive stimulation."—American Journal of Archaeology "An uncontested authority on the civilization of Sumer, Professor Kramer writes with grace and urbanity."—Library Journal

Download or read book Liquid Modernity written by Zygmunt Bauman and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-07-10 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this new book, Bauman examines how we have moved away from a 'heavy' and 'solid', hardware-focused modernity to a 'light' and 'liquid', software-based modernity. This passage, he argues, has brought profound change to all aspects of the human condition. The new remoteness and un-reachability of global systemic structure coupled with the unstructured and under-defined, fluid state of the immediate setting of life-politics and human togetherness, call for the rethinking of the concepts and cognitive frames used to narrate human individual experience and their joint history. This book is dedicated to this task. Bauman selects five of the basic concepts which have served to make sense of shared human life - emancipation, individuality, time/space, work and community - and traces their successive incarnations and changes of meaning. Liquid Modernity concludes the analysis undertaken in Bauman's two previous books Globalization: The Human Consequences and In Search of Politics. Together these volumes form a brilliant analysis of the changing conditions of social and political life by one of the most original thinkers writing today.

Book Post Communist Mafia State

Download or read book Post Communist Mafia State written by B lint Magyar and published by Central European University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-01 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Having won a two-third majority in Parliament at the 2010 elections, the Hungarian political party Fidesz removed many of the institutional obstacles of exerting power. Just like the party, the state itself was placed under the control of a single individual, who since then has applied the techniques used within his party to enforce submission and obedience onto society as a whole. In a new approach the author characterizes the system as the ?organized over-world?, the ?state employing mafia methods? and the ?adopted political family', applying these categories not as metaphors but elements of a coherent conceptual framework. The actions of the post-communist mafia state model are closely aligned with the interests of power and wealth concentrated in the hands of a small group of insiders. While the traditional mafia channeled wealth and economic players into its spheres of influence by means of direct coercion, the mafia state does the same by means of parliamentary legislation, legal prosecution, tax authority, police forces and secret service. The innovative conceptual framework of the book is important and timely not only for Hungary, but also for other post-communist countries subjected to autocratic rules. ÿ

Book People and Computers XIV Usability or Else

Download or read book People and Computers XIV Usability or Else written by Sharon McDonald and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently we are at the beginnings of widespread wireless connectivity and ubiquitous computing. The Web is merging with a variety of technologies: cell phones, laptop computers, hand held organisers, information appliances, and GPS and other sensors. The capability for access anytime and anywhere is here. The increasing frequency of cell phone calls at inappropriate times testifies that people no longer can easily control access. Devices can determine where they are located and can make a range of information available to users as well as make users available to others or their devices. We have proposed a general technique that promises to assist in mediating access. It capitalises on advantages afforded by computation(Hollan & Stometta, 1992). We first described the negotiation technique in the context of problems involved in scheduling meetings and then showed that similar issues, which at first may seem unrelated but in fact have much in common, arise in other contexts. One such activity, gaining immediate access, is currently of growing importance because of expanding connectivity via wireless technology. Cell phones and related technologies make it possible to be constantly available for synchronous interaction. At times, this can be advantageous but the associated costs and benefits result in a complex tradeoff space for designers as well as users.
