It is the power over our lives and it impacts us no matter how we try to distance ourselves. It is essential that medical treatments are decided by doctors and not politicians. This governmental health care system will not only determine life and death based on the economic outlook of the government, but also erase family values as it paves the way for a reshaped nation. Kallberg addresses the myths about single payer universal health care by drawing comparisons with Sweden, which has one of the most comprehensive universal health care systems, and puts them into an American context. When these factors are not optimal in a community, it does not mean they are intractable: such inequities can be mitigated by social policies that can shape health in powerful ways.
