Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theology of the Body (TOB) Children's Book. Through the use of beautiful illustrations and simple yet truthful and medically correct language, this book explains the majesty God designed into the full, free, faithful, and fruitful communion of spouses that allows "man" to "image" the Trinity, who creates out of love, in order to share love. Complete with biblical and literary references, and granted both the Nihil Obstat (by Msgr. Brian Bransfield) and the Imprimatur (by Archbishop Charles Chaput), Wonderfully Made! Babies will enrich your child's understanding of life's bigger picture while affirming his or her personal worth and place in the world. Here's what one priest has to say about the book: "Our Lord Jesus, the Son of the living God, said 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.' Matthew 19:14. He wants to implant and pour into the heart and soul of children the seed of the Kingdom of His Father. This wonderful book, with a beautiful text, easy to read and understand, and with lively art work, will plant into children the seeds of Jesus' understanding of man and woman. This little book is the "Theology of the Body" for children--get it and give it to children, give it to schools and to Religious-ed classes. I see Pope John Paul II laughing in heaven, amazed that his Theology of the Body has been written in such a way that children can understand it. May he intercede and bless the authors and the illustrator." Fr. Pio Mandato, FMHJ

Mom Set Free will empower you to parent in the confidence of God's grace and to experience the freedom you were created for. We moms are told that we have to get it all right so our kids turn out right. We’re told that their entire futures are riding on our ability to perfectly orchestrate their lives. And we’re told that the strength of their faith hinges on ours. And we begin to believe that if we just try hard enough, we can actually “be enough.” These impossible standards leave us stuck in worry, anger, guilt, comparison, and shame. Jeannie Cunnion gets it. And in Mom Set Free she reveals how the Good News of the Gospel empowers us to live—and parent—in the freedom for which Christ has set us free. Jeannie invites us to journey alongside her as we learn to: * Lay down what God has not asked us to carry so we can thrive in what He has. * Embrace our significance in our children’s lives in light of God’s sovereignty. * Trust God with the children He has entrusted to us. * Receive God’s grace so we can reflect God’s heart to our kids. At the center: a young woman who calls herself Bride, whose stunning blue-black skin is only one element of her beauty, her boldness and confidence, her success in life, but which caused her light-skinned mother to deny her even the simplest forms of love. There is Booker, the man Bride loves, and loses to anger. Rain, the mysterious white child with whom she crosses paths. And finally, Bride’s mother herself, Sweetness, who takes a lifetime to come to understand that “what you do to children matters. And they might never forget.” “Powerful.... A tale that is as forceful as it is affecting, as fierce as it is resonant.” —Michiko Kakutani, The New York Times

Book God s Babies

Download or read book God s Babies written by John McKeown and published by Open Book Publishers. This book was released on 2014-12-17 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The human population's annual total consumption is not sustainable by one planet. This unprecedented situation calls for a reform of religious cultures that promote a large ideal family size. Many observers assume that Christianity is inevitably part of this problem because it promotes "family values" and statistically, in America and elsewhere, has a higher birthrate than nonreligious people. This book explores diverse ideas about human reproduction in the church past and present. It investigates an extreme fringe of U.S. Protestantism, including the Quiverfull movement, that use Old Testament "fruitful" verses to support natalist ideas explicitly promoting higher fecundity. It also challenges the claim by some natalists that Martin Luther in the 16th century advocated similar ideas. This book argues that natalism is inappropriate as a Christian application of Scripture, especially since rich populations’ total footprints are detrimental to biodiversity and to human welfare. It explores the ancient cultural context of the Bible verses quoted by natalists. Challenging the assumption that religion normally promotes fecundity, the book finds surprising exceptions among early Christians (with a special focus on Saint Augustine) since they advocated spiritual fecundity in preference to biological fecundity. Finally the book uses a hermeneutic lens derived from Genesis 1, and prioritising the modern problem of biodiversity, to provide ecological interpretations of the Bible's "fruitful" verses.
