Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People at certain points of life all over ask questions of wonder—who, how, when, why, or what? There have been thousands of questions from billions of people on or of life, from individual questions to the world to the universe. Some have been solved, while others continually seek out answers. We as a whole intuitively ask more all the time. We all enter the same way, just in different places and times. It proves we’re all connected in some sort of way whether we meet or not. Our existence shows we are here to experience the different highs and lows in between. How that’s executed or accomplished is different for everyone. One needs others to assist us in achieving it or them. We do the same for others in return. We may or may not enjoy the lesson that comes from it. We may not even understand any of it. We may not see value in it, but later we do. Experiences may prove different what we may have learned or believed on the paths we chose. We can be humbled, and we can also do great things. The definition of success is different for each. The definition of right and wrong is the same. We’re all energy. We absorb the energy around us if we allow it to with the influences that create it. These can be fantastic and paralyzing at the same time depending on the many factors that allow it manifest. They are created by beliefs, emotions, and experiences. Whatever allows us to exist is seen as different for anyone. It allows us to make and learn from mistakes if we choose to. It allows us to create our own fate, destiny, and lives with the limited and unlimited resources we are given. The definition of life and success in it is different for anyone you ask. The reality in how one sees and values it is different too. Jack Connor is no different than anyone else. At least he did. Through his experiences he’s had, finding the difficult lessons in it has blessed him with a new outlook toward it. Many things happened that he had no control over. Some experiences could’ve been avoided all together, but Jack chose not to let that happen. He made mistakes and then more. He lived in denial based on fear. Things had to happen for the possibility of change. Some made sense while others didn’t. His actions effected far more than he knew. The lessons learned and the highs and lows of it still continue because of it the decisions he chooses to see life in. Finding hope when there was none, being humbled and rising back. Miracles happening. Finding a new way to live allowed him being placed where he was needed at the right time. It’s something he never expected. There was no guarantee either. But neither was he. What happened to him has happened to others before and will happen to others again. If you allow it to. For whatever reason, one change lead to another which allowed for him to see the perception of how his life was and the place he was placed in for a moment of time. The results of this may never be known fully or until time allows it to. It may take a lifetime or more? And like everything else, the only question he has is what’s next? And why, how, who and when?

Book excerpt: But all the kids are wearing them! Any child who has ever craved something out of reach will relate to this warm, refreshingly realistic story. Features an audio read-along. "I have dreams about those shoes. Black high-tops. Two white stripes." All Jeremy wants is a pair of those shoes, the ones everyone at school seems to be wearing. But Jeremy’s grandma tells him they don’t have room for "want," just "need," and what Jeremy needs are new boots for winter. When Jeremy’s shoes fall apart at school, and the guidance counselor gives him a hand-me-down pair, the boy is more determined than ever to have those shoes, even a thrift-shop pair that are much too small. But sore feet aren’t much fun, and Jeremy comes to realize that the things he has -- warm boots, a loving grandma, and the chance to help a friend -- are worth more than the things he wants.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although we now have sophisticated algorithms and techniques for determining the shapes and sizes and for matching the fit between shoes and feet, few, if any, of the books currently available cover these new technologies until now. Bringing together high-quality and state-of-the-art contributions from designers, biomechanists, ergonomists, engineers, podiatrists, and scientists from industry and academia, The Science of Footwear provides an in-depth understanding of the technology and techniques involved in the design and development of a popular and demanding consumer product. This book introduces the design, development, manufacturing, and marketing of footwear. The chapters contain data from past research and the state-of-the art methodologies. They not only cover every aspect of the product design, but also how the footwear industry caters to the wide-ranging needs of sophisticated and demanding customers. The footwear industry has rapidly changed over the last 10 years. Mass production has changed to personalization and mass customization, areas that are not well-understood. This book explores these different concepts in a coherent way, drawing on differing views that give a holistic view of the science behind footwear. Collating information from different disciplines, the book provides the tools to develop the next generation of footwear.

Download or read book A Source of Wilderness Novice Survival Skills written by Donald F. Grantham and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2001-03-02 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern man, or woman for that matter, from city, town, or farm has little knowledge of the real wilderness. Many hunters, fisherfolk, joggers, backpackers, hikes and adventures know how to handle a prepared path, planned campsite or landscaped trail but the real woods were every thing, and I mean every thing is 'natural' they are lost. They have never seen any food walking around or any plants out of a plastic package. Thus off the planned path they hit the panic button and may needlessly die. A considerable number of people lost in the wilds die every year just because they did not have the basic knowledge to survive. A recent example from the Western states was a group of people perished in the woods with a host of good food all around. They just didn't know what to eat as they had never seen it growing in the ground. Few of today's citizen realize they are never more than a few seconds from trouble as their car rolls to a stop many miles from civilization with a dead engine. Every year many people buy a gun and become hunters. They know they are hunters, they now have a hunting license. The license gives them no knowledge of the woods, but they don't realize this until they get lost on the first trip. Some die. Some get themselves out with just dumb luck and fear to ever return, to the woods again many hours of true fun have been lost forever. This book could have helped save a life or made their trip a fun adventure to be enjoyed again and again. This book is full of basic information and how to for the novice, but the experienced outdoors person will find a wealth of useful information here as well. There are details on many different ways to live in the outdoors with little professional 'equipment' some may be new or a little different to other books on the subject, to build a fire, break in boots, walk, approach game, travel, finding food, water, shelter, how to cook without pots or pans, tell coming weather, what works in many places and what doesn 't. How to make the things you need with only what tools you can devise or may have with you at the time is stressed as is outdoor first aid and confidence. All subjects very different to what you will experience in town or in a formal camping, backpacking or hiking situation. This book is different in that everything here has been tested over and over all over the country to be sure everything will work for the novice as well as the experienced outdoors person. This is not a table top or book shelf book it is a book to put in your pocket and take with you. It may well save a life.
