This book shows a path forward for both. This book will be a tremendous help to the busy elementary school librarian who is working with busy elementary social studies teachers. As they are designing and co-teaching library-based lessons based on the Social Studies Standards Framework, the English Literacy Common Core Standards, and the new American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Standards Learners Framework, these reproducible lessons will enhance planning and implementation. You'll get ready-to-use lessons as well as model lessons to adapt to the needs of your own curriculum and students. All standards are applied—with needed handouts—and other tools and current lists of recommended resources are provided. Lessons are coordinated to common elementary social studies curricula at indicated grade levels but can be adapted as template lessons as needed. Book One Acre and Security

Download or read book One Acre and Security written by Bradford Angier and published by Stackpole Books. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A passport to freedom that shows how to find fun, food, shelter, and income on land that may be within easy-driving distance of the city and suburbs. Why work a lifetime, asks Angier, to accumulate enough money to retire from the rat race during the last, least active years of life, when a little ground can provide healthful, relaxed living—now—and income too? One Acre and Security explains how “three-squares-a-day” and money to spend can come from the earth with instructions on: sheep or pig farming, raising bees for honey, keeping dairy herbs of cows or goats, making money with herb culture, raising and selling rabbits and earthworms, running a poultry farm, raising fish, frogs, and turtles for profit and fun. Angier, the man who has done it all himself, shares too what he has learned about some of the ways to eat from nature’s free banquet table, how to stretch country-living with hikes on famous trails or on any untrammeled path, where to find the best hunting and fishing, and how to catch bigger, healthier fish. “This book is written for those who want to move—not to the distant wilderness—but just far enough away from the smog and the screaming traffic to be where meat will be theirs for the raising, fish for the catching, fruit and vegetables for the picking, fuel for the cutting, home for the satisfaction of building…breathing cleaner air, beholden to none, doing what they want to do most and giving it their best,” says Bradford Angier in One Acre and Security…

An understanding of agricultural practices, college algebra, and trigonometry are adequate preparation for using this text. Abundant figures, photographs, and charts, along with laboratory exercises that amplify and fix the concepts of farm machinery management in the readers mind, enhance the texts effectiveness for students, as well as for farmers, farm operators, and farm managers.

Book The Hopper Dredge

    Book Details:
  • Author : United States. Army. Corps of Engineers
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 1954
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 436 pages

Download or read book The Hopper Dredge written by United States. Army. Corps of Engineers and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hopper dredges are designed to vacuum material from the sea floor through drag arms that load the material into the hold of the vessel. The cargo of mud, or sand, can then be transported to either an ocean disposal site, where the material is dropped to the bottom through openings in the bottom of the hull, or at an upland site such as a beach, or reclamation, where the material is pumped ashore by the ship. This method is most suited when excavating loose material from open areas for delivery to a distant disposal location. These vessels are generally certified to sail in coastal or ocean waters and are suited for working in rougher sea conditions beyond those suitable for other dredging plants.
