Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Never before has wildlife narration been this bold and this hilarious. More than 40 million people have viewed Randall’s honey badger video, “The Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger.” “It has no regard for anyone or anything—it just takes what it wants! What a little badass!” When viewing wildlife footage, who hasn’t thought at times, “Ewww! What the hell is that?!” Randall thinks it — and says so! In Honey Badger Don’t Care, Randall examines and humorously informs on a dozen crazy, nasty animals of the wild kingdom employing his unique style of telling it like it is! His wildlife writing is refreshingly honest. If an animal scares Randall, he’s not afraid to share. Unlike most nature writers, Randall doesn’t deliver the sugarcoated or drab description. He “goes there” and shares his true feelings with his audience. Because of this, his readers feel that they can relate. Randall loves animals—even the ones that terrify him. He may not agree with how these animals conduct themselves in the world, but Randall wants everyone to know who they are. Just as he introduced the world to the honey badger, the Jesus lizard, and others, so will Randall shed light on twelve bizarre and interesting animals. Designed with callouts, sidebars, and more than fifty photos, Honey Badger Don’t Care presents a wildlife book for adults—hilarious, irreverent, profane, yet charming, chatty, and informative. Don’t be stupid—buy this book!

Download or read book The Wolverine Way written by Douglas Chadwick and published by Patagonia. This book was released on 2013-10-06 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Glutton, demon of destruction, symbol of slaughter, mightiest of wilderness villains… The wolverine comes marked with a reputation based on myth and fancy. Yet this enigmatic animal is more complex than the legends that surround it. With a shrinking wilderness and global warming, the future of the wolverine is uncertain. The Wolverine Way reveals the natural history of this species and the forces that threaten its future, engagingly told by Douglas Chadwick, who volunteered with the Glacier Wolverine Project. This five-year study in Glacier National Park – which involved dealing with blizzards, grizzlies, sheer mountain walls, and other daily challenges to survival – uncovered key missing information about the wolverine’s habitat, social structure and reproduction habits. Wolverines, according to Chadwick, are the land equivalent of polar bears in regard to the impacts of global warming. The plight of wolverines adds to the call for wildlife corridors that connect existing habitat that is proposed by the Freedom to Roam coalition.

In God of All Things, pastor and author Andrew Wilson invites you to rediscover God in this way, too--through ordinary, everyday things. He explores the idea of a material world and presents a variety of created marvels that reveal the gospel in everyday life and fuel worship and joy in God--marvels like: Dust: the image of God Horns: the salvation of God Donkeys: the peace of God Water: the life of God Viruses: the problem of God Cities: the kingdom of God God of All Things will leave you with a deeper understanding of Scripture, the world you live in, and the God who made it all.

Download or read book The Wilderness Family written by Kobie Kruger and published by Random House. This book was released on 2014-11-28 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Kobie Krüger, her game-ranger husband and their three young daughters moved to one of the most isolated corners of the world - a remote ranger station in the Mahlangeni region of South Africa's vast Kruger National Park - she might have worried that she would become engulfed with loneliness and boredom. Yet, for Kobie and her family, the seventeen years spent in this spectacularly beautiful park proved to be the most magical - and occasionally the most hair-raising - of their lives. Kobie recounts their enchanting adventures and extraordinary experiences in this vast reserve - a place where, bathed in golden sunlight, hippos basked in the glittering waters of the Letaba River, storks and herons perched along the shoreline, and fruit bats hung in the sausage trees. But as the Krugers settled in, they discovered that not all was peace and harmony. They soon became accustomed to living with the unexpected: the sneaky hyenas who stole blankets and cooking pots, the sinister-looking pythons that slithered into the house, and the usually placid elephants who grew foul-tempered in the violent heat of the summer. And one terrible day, a lion attacked Kobus in the bush and nearly killed him. Yet nothing prepared the Krugers for their greatest adventure of all, the raising of an orphaned prince, a lion cub who, when they found him, was only a few days old and on the verge of death. Reared on a cocktail of love and bottles of fat-enriched milk, Leo soon became an affectionate, rambunctious and adored member of the fmaily. It is the rearing of this young king, and the hilarious endeavours to teach him to become a 'real' lion who could survive with his own kind in the wild, that lie at the heart of this endearing memoir. It is a memoir of a magical place and time that can never be recaptured.
Download or read book The Humane Gardener written by Nancy Lawson and published by Chronicle Books. This book was released on 2017-04-18 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this eloquent plea for compassion and respect for all species, journalist and gardener Nancy Lawson describes why and how to welcome wildlife to our backyards. Through engaging anecdotes and inspired advice, profiles of home gardeners throughout the country, and interviews with scientists and horticulturalists, Lawson applies the broader lessons of ecology to our own outdoor spaces. Detailed chapters address planting for wildlife by choosing native species; providing habitats that shelter baby animals, as well as birds, bees, and butterflies; creating safe zones in the garden; cohabiting with creatures often regarded as pests; letting nature be your garden designer; and encouraging natural processes and evolution in the garden. The Humane Gardener fills a unique niche in describing simple principles for both attracting wildlife and peacefully resolving conflicts with all the creatures that share our world.

Download or read book Being a Beast written by Charles Foster and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2016-06-21 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A passionate naturalist explores what it’s really like to be an animal—by living like them How can we ever be sure that we really know the other? To test the limits of our ability to inhabit lives that are not our own, Charles Foster set out to know the ultimate other: the non-humans, the beasts. And to do that, he tried to be like them, choosing a badger, an otter, a fox, a deer, and a swift. He lived alongside badgers for weeks, sleeping in a sett in a Welsh hillside and eating earthworms, learning to sense the landscape through his nose rather than his eyes. He caught fish in his teeth while swimming like an otter; rooted through London garbage cans as an urban fox; was hunted by bloodhounds as a red deer, nearly dying in the snow. And he followed the swifts on their migration route over the Strait of Gibraltar, discovering himself to be strangely connected to the birds. A lyrical, intimate, and completely radical look at the life of animals—human and other—Being a Beast mingles neuroscience and psychology, nature writing and memoir to cross the boundaries separating the species. It is an extraordinary journey full of thrills and surprises, humor and joy. And, ultimately, it is an inquiry into the human experience in our world, carried out by exploring the full range of the life around us.
Download or read book The Honey Badger written by Brett Salisbury and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-10-01 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Things you might not know about the Honey Badger & Chuck Norris Rated: PG-13 By Brett Salisbury & Chuck Norris If you are one of the 6.18 million people (and counting) who has watched YouTube sensation Randall's video "The Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger," you may be wondering whether or not it is true. Randall's narration is hilarious - and entirely accurate. Honey badger really DON'T care. If anything, the honey badger is even more badass than Randall's video gives it credit for. First, the name. Both "honey" and "badger" are misnomers. The honey badger is more closely related to weasels than to badgers (although both are mustelids). And although the honey badger enjoys snacking on the honey and grubs to be found in beehives, it is primarily a carnivore that will eat anything living or dead that crosses its path. (In parts of India where the honey badger is common, people have to take care to bury their deceased well. Honey badgers are notorious for digging up and eating human corpses.) In one of the more remarkable video clips, the honey badger is shown being bitten by a cobra. The honey badger seems to fall asleep for a while. It then wakes up, groggily shakes off the effects of the venom, and continues eating the cobra. This is possible because the honey badger is one of the few animals in the world which is immune to cobra venom. The book is hilarious with great pictures of the Honey Badger and a few of Chuck Norris
Download or read book God s Revenge written by Evelyn Mundell and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-12-09 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ancient Koine Greek manuscript is discovered that sheds fresh light on a host of long-held beliefs. History professor, Etienne Naude, discovers that the past, present and future are inextricably linked and intertwined. Things are not always as they appear to be a first glance. This rollercoaster ride accelerates at an alarming pace. Our unlikely team of unlikely heroes uncovers ancient mysteries that are directing present realities. As they peel back the layers that hide the malevolent beast that has systematically burrowed into the fabric of all society from ancient times, they uncover convoluted “wheels within wheels.” At last the hidden enemy is revealed in its true reality. They discover that God’s revenge is indeed an awesome thing. We read the eye-witness testimony of a survivor – one who has witnessed this reality from the inside. He describes a sickening holocaust of epic proportions that history has conveniently swallowed up and glossed over. Man does not learn from the lessons of the past, and is viciously inhumane towards his fellow man. Our team members also see that God’s love and grace to those who obey Him, are infinite. The helter-skelter ride builds up inexorable velocity until it comes to a crashing climax, which has included the international security forces, as well as the CIA and the KGB. Life can never be the same again!
