Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does the future hold for you in 2005? Do you care? Even if some men do not believe in love readings or astrology, most men love to read about their sign, to see whether or not the information they encounter holds validity or truth to it, especially concerning their love life. "Homoscopes" focuses on love and sex for every astrological sign in the zodiac for gay men. "Homoscopes" uncovers every aspect of your sex life (whether you are single or in a relationship) and analyzes your love for others as well as yourself. Unlike most astrology books, "Homoscopes" focuses on love and sex alone, applying information for gay men by way of love readings. Since your astrological birth sign is essential to the success of having a love reading done, your astrological birth sign can be used to give you a clear analysis of the past, present and future of your love and sex life. Keep in mind that love readings without specific questions, are usually more philosophical and can only be applied to specific matters in your love life when you reflect deeply upon them. To do so, you must refer to your love reading predictions over and over again. All men, regardless of your religion, race, sex or sexual history, will find your experience with "Homoscopes" to be a complete one. Focus on a particular time of the year if you wish to be enlightened about something around that time, and you will not only find your answers, you will find additional insight. By thus knowing your strengths and accepting your weaknesses, you can lessen the latter. By knowing yourself more and knowing how to improve your love life, you and your significant other will be much happier and more complete than originallyforeseen. "Homoscopes" is proud to bring you "2005 Astrological Love & Sex Readings F

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In these modern days, it is often quite rare and beyond unheard of for people to portray angels as militant, godlike warriors. Surprisingly, archangels being viewed as paranormal figures and action superheroes are even more unheard of. Books, movies, and other popular venues glorify in actors playing the role of generic crime fighters and fictional lifesavers, but what about the original ones written about during ancient times? And according to the author of nearly two dozen publications, Stephanie Adams, ¿Sometimes you have to go back in history in order to make it.¿ So what better way to teach the spiritual battle between good and evil, ultimately showing that the goodness of God will always prevail, than to write a book on it from a religious background, combined with a metaphysical perspective? Introducing...The Book Of ¿GODDESSY¿ By Stephanie Adams.

Book I Livia

Download or read book I Livia written by Mary Mudd and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2005-06-30 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A historical tradition of Roman origin represents Livia Drusilla, the third and much beloved wife of Caesar Augustus, as a conniving, Borgia-like criminal. This view of Livia maintains, that to promote the political career of her son by her former husband, Livia killed or incapacitated Augustus' descendants through his previous wife. Author Robert Graves, in his famous novel, I, Claudius, based his fictitious rendering of Livia upon this malevolent representation of her. The conceit is patently wrong, and essentially all modern scholars of Roman history reject it. But thanks to Graves' immensely entertaining book, and the British Broadcasting Corporation adaptation of it for television, the image of Livia as a devious dynastic murderess prevails in the popular mind. I, Livia: The Counterfeit Criminal aspires to correct the misconception, and present an accurate assessment of this much-maligned woman. The study's comfortably readable style is intended for general audiences. The first three chapters present a biographical sketch, which focuses on Livia's public life. Livia was accepted as an extraordinarily visible, dynamic and influential political personage, by a society and culture that maintained that women must confine their activities childrearing and other domestic pursuits. The following two chapters demonstrate the absurdity of Livia's criminal reputation, and offer explanation for its development. Three subsequent chapters seek Livia's private side - her habits, tastes, and interpersonal relationships. Livia (who suffered from colds and chronic arthritis) was an amiable soul, with a self-deprecating sense of humor. She was a loving, supportive forbearant wife and mother, an intellectual with profound political insights, an enthusiastic traveller, a connoisseur of art. Although generally patient and demure, she could also be impulsive, assertive, opinionated and, especially in later life, petulant. The final chapter examines how Livia became, and remained, a symbol of Roman imperial power. The brief epilogue describes the physical appearances of Livia and the members of her family. Also included are relevant appendices, a comprehensive bibliography, and color images of surviving wall paintings from her homes.

Book The End of San Francisco

Download or read book The End of San Francisco written by Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore and published by City Lights Books. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The End of San Francisco breaks apart the conventions of memoir to reveal the passions and perils of a life that refuses to conform to the rules of straight or gay normalcy. A budding queer activist escapes to San Francisco, in search of a world more politically charged, sexually saturated, and ethically consistent—this is the person who evolves into Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore, infamous radical queer troublemaker, organizer and agitator, community builder and anti-assimilationist commentator. Here is the tender, provocative and exuberant story of the formation of one of the contemporary queer movement's most savvy and outrageous writers and spokespersons. Using an unrestrained associative style to move kaleidoscopically between past, present and future, Sycamore conjures the untidy push and pull of memory, exposing the tensions between idealism and critical engagement, trauma and self-actualization, inspiration and loss. Part memoir, part social history and part elegy, The End of San Francisco explores and explodes the dream of a radical queer community and the mythical city that was supposed to nurture it. "Mattilda is a dazzling writer of uncommon truths, a challenging writer who refuses to conform to conventionality. Her agitation is an inspiration."—Justin Torres, author of We the Animals “Author Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore is the artistic love child of John Genet and David Wojnarowicz, deconstructing language swathed in unbridled sensuality, while flinging readers into a disrupted, chaotic life of queer anarchy.”—Gay and Lesbian Review "Bring on The End of San Francisco! And Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore, whose new book has reinvented memoir without the predictable gloss of passive resolution. This book is undeniably brave and new, and the internal energy churning at its core is like nothing you've seen, heard or read before. I swear."—T. Cooper, author of Real Man Adventures "We hear so much about coming-of-age narratives that we seldom think about going-of-age—the shutting down and closure, the making sense of where we've been. Written with grace, reserve and the honest tremblings that come when things matter, Mattilda shows us that The End of San Francisco is really the beginning of joy."—Daphne Gottlieb, author of 15 Ways to Stay Alive "It would be easy to describe The End of San Francisco as a Joycean 'Portrait of the Artist as a Young Queer' (although the book's intense stream of consciousness is reminiscent of the later, more experimental, Joyce) . . . but this is misleading. This journey of a life that begins in the professional upper-middle class (both parents are therapists) and the Ivy League and moves to hustling, drugs, activism—Sycamore was active in ACT UP and Queer Nation—and queer bohemian grunge, is profoundly American. At heart, Sycamore is writing about the need to escape control through flight or obliteration."—Michael Bronski, San Francisco Chronicle

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sketchtasy takes place in that late-night moment when everything comes together, and everything falls apart—it’s an urgent, glittering, devastating novel about the perils of queer world-making in the mid-‘90s. This is Boston in 1995, a city defined by a rabid fear of difference. Alexa, an incisive twenty-one-year-old queen, faces everyday brutality with determined nonchalance. Rejecting middle-class pretensions, she negotiates past and present traumas with a scathing critique of the world. Drawn to the ecstasy of drugged-out escapades, Alexa searches for nourishment in a gay culture bonded by clubs and conformity, willful apathy, and the specter of AIDS. Is there any hope for communal care? Sketchtasy brings 1990s gay culture startlingly back to life, as Alexa and her friends grapple with the impact of growing up at a time when desire and death are intertwined. With an intoxicating voice and unruly cadence, this is a shattering, incandescent novel that conjures the pain and pageantry of struggling to imagine a future.

Book That s Revolting

Download or read book That s Revolting written by Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As an assimilationist gay mainstream wields increasing power, the focus of gay struggle has become limited to marriage, military service and adoption. By the twisted priorities of the gay mainstream, it's ok to oppose a queer youth centre because it might interfere with property values, or to fight against the inclusion of transgendered people under hate crime legislation because this might not appeal to straight voters. That's Revolting shows us what the new queer resistance looks like. It also challenges the commercialised, commodified and objectified views of today's gays.
