Book Homogeneous Catalysis with Metal Phosphine Complexes

Download or read book Homogeneous Catalysis with Metal Phosphine Complexes written by Louis M. Pignolet and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of transition metal catalysis has experienced incredible growth during the past decade. The reasons for this are obvious when one considers the world's energy problems and the need for new and less energy demanding syntheses of important chemicals. Heterogeneous catalysis has played a major industrial role; however, such reactions are generally not selective and are exceedingly difficult to study. Homogeneous catalysis suffers from on-site engineering difficulties; however, such reactions usually provide the desired selectivity. For example, Monsanto's synthesis of optically-active amino acids employs a chiral homogeneous rhodium diphosphine catalyst. Industrial uses of homogeneous catalyst systems are increasing. It is not by accident that many homogeneous catalysts contain tertiary phosphine ligands. These ligands possess the correct steric and electronic properties that are necessary for catalytic reactivity and selectivity. This point will be emphasized throughout the book. Thus the stage is set for a comprehensive be treatment of the many ways in which phosphine catalyst systems can designed, synthesized, and studied.

Book Heterogeneous Catalysts

Download or read book Heterogeneous Catalysts written by Wey Yang Teoh and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-02-23 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents state-of-the-art knowledge of heterogeneous catalysts including new applications in energy and environmental fields This book focuses on emerging techniques in heterogeneous catalysis, from new methodology for catalysts design and synthesis, surface studies and operando spectroscopies, ab initio techniques, to critical catalytic systems as relevant to energy and the environment. It provides the vision of addressing the foreseeable knowledge gap unfilled by classical knowledge in the field. Heterogeneous Catalysts: Advanced Design, Characterization and Applications begins with an overview on the evolution in catalysts synthesis and introduces readers to facets engineering on catalysts; electrochemical synthesis of nanostructured catalytic thin films; and bandgap engineering of semiconductor photocatalysts. Next, it examines how we are gaining a more precise understanding of catalytic events and materials under working conditions. It covers bridging pressure gap in surface catalytic studies; tomography in catalysts design; and resolving catalyst performance at nanoscale via fluorescence microscopy. Quantum approaches to predicting molecular reactions on catalytic surfaces follows that, along with chapters on Density Functional Theory in heterogeneous catalysis; first principles simulation of electrified interfaces in electrochemistry; and high-throughput computational design of novel catalytic materials. The book also discusses embracing the energy and environmental challenges of the 21st century through heterogeneous catalysis and much more. Presents recent developments in heterogeneous catalysis with emphasis on new fundamentals and emerging techniques Offers a comprehensive look at the important aspects of heterogeneous catalysis Provides an applications-oriented, bottoms-up approach to a high-interest subject that plays a vital role in industry and is widely applied in areas related to energy and environment Heterogeneous Catalysts: Advanced Design, Characterization and Applications is an important book for catalytic chemists, materials scientists, surface chemists, physical chemists, inorganic chemists, chemical engineers, and other professionals working in the chemical industry.

  • Author : Geoffrey C Bond
  • Publisher : World Scientific
  • Release : 2006-08-15
  • ISBN : 1908979852

Download or read book Catalysis By Gold written by Geoffrey C Bond and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006-08-15 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gold has traditionally been regarded as inactive as a catalytic metal. However, the advent of nanoparticulate gold on high surface area oxide supports has demonstrated its high catalytic activity in many chemical reactions. Gold is active as a heterogeneous catalyst in both gas and liquid phases, and complexes catalyse reactions homogeneously in solution. Many of the reactions being studied will lead to new application areas for catalysis by gold in pollution control, chemical processing, sensors and fuel cell technology. This book describes the properties of gold, the methods for preparing gold catalysts and ways to characterise and use them effectively in reactions. The reaction mechanisms and reasons for the high activities are discussed and the applications for gold catalysis considered./a

Book Modern Supramolecular Gold Chemistry

Download or read book Modern Supramolecular Gold Chemistry written by Antonio Laguna and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-09-26 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Filling a gap in our systematic knowledge of gold, this monograph covers the fundamental aspects, while also considering new applications of gold compounds in catalysis, as nanoparticles, and their potential application as luminescent compounds. Written by an eminent team of authors from academia, the book analyzes the current status of gold chemistry, its special characteristics, oxidation states and main type of complexes, before going on to look at the synthesis of supramolecular aggregates due to the formation of gold-gold, gold-metal interactions or other secondary bonds. Final sections deal with LEDs, solvoluminescent and electroluminescent materials, liquid crystals and catalysis. While of interest to advanced chemistry students, this book is also useful for researchers interested in the chemistry of gold and its applications, as well as those involved in metal-metal interactions, heteronuclear chemistry or in the optical properties of coordination compounds.
