Book The Holy Crap Cookbook

    Book Details:
  • Author : Corin Mullins
  • Publisher : Douglas & McIntyre
  • Release : 2016-11-19
  • ISBN : 1771621761
  • Pages : 192 pages

Download or read book The Holy Crap Cookbook written by Corin Mullins and published by Douglas & McIntyre. This book was released on 2016-11-19 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Corin and Brian Mullins started their company, HapiFoods, in 2009 with just $129, they had no idea that in less than a decade they would be shipping millions of bags of cereals around the world. They just wanted to make a nourishing product that would both taste good and be compatible with Brian's food allergies—and perhaps sell it locally for a bit of extra retirement income. After much experimentation, Corin came across the tiny black chia seed—a complete protein, rich in omega 3 fatty acids as well as minerals, antioxidants and fibre. Corin blended chia with nutrient-rich buckwheat and hulled hemp seeds and, inspired by an enthusiastic comment from one of their first customers, she and Brian decided to label their first creation "Holy Crap, the World's Most Amazing Cereal." Thanks in part to an appearance on the hit CBC show Dragons' Den, their products gained the attention of Canadian consumers, many of whom became loyal customers. Starting with HapiFoods' cereals and adding other healthy ingredients, this inspirational cookbook emphasizes a plant-based, gluten-free diet and includes over 60 simple-to-prepare but simply awesome recipes that harness the power of superfoods. From protein-packed breakfast fare like refreshing smoothies and perfect pancakes, to satisfying savory dishes and decadent desserts that don't sacrifice nutrition for flavour, all the recipes in The Holy Crap Cookbook are in keeping with the Holy Crap philosophy: what you eat should be good for you and taste great.

Book We Told You So

Book excerpt: In 1976, a fledgling magazine held forth the the idea that comics could be art. We Told You So: Comics as Art is an oral history about Fantagraphics Books’ key role in helping build and shape an art movement around a discredited, ignored and fading expression of Americana. It includes appearances by Chris Ware, Art Spiegelman, Harlan Ellison, Stan Lee, Daniel Clowes, Frank Miller, and more.

Book Holy Crap

    Book Details:
  • Author : David Hines
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2011-03-09
  • ISBN : 1456864505
  • Pages : 207 pages

Download or read book Holy Crap written by David Hines and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-03-09 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “We should start our own religion.” One simple sentence, one really bad idea. But to chronic underachievers Danny Welles and Walter James, starting a new religion sounded like the best idea they'd ever had. Those six little words would inspire them to write their own dogma, ensnare a gullible Hollywood star to be their spokesman, hijack the nation’s highest-rated TV talk show and create the Church of OK, a religion based on “positivity and permissiveness” that would fuel a media firestorm rocketing them to fame – and infamy. Holy Crap is a funny, satirical look at our modern culture, following its characters as they take on religion, Hollywood, television, the tabloids and each other with the goal to enrich lives – as well as their own bank accounts. It’s a journey filled with religious zealots, 7-Eleven hot dogs, Caddyshack as a Christian allegory, Kama Sutra with cats, a certain amount of substance abuse, and heartfelt sex on playground equipment.

Book From Hitler to Jim Crow to Obama

Download or read book From Hitler to Jim Crow to Obama written by ChitlinKraut and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-11-20 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Julian, online, I took note of an alarming number of thisisbyus writers posting horrendous and racist comments about a young Senator from Illinois, actively campaigning for President of the United States. Posting under the moniker “Gabby on the Gulf Coast” I promoted From Hitler to Jim Crow, a story about the displaced in Pensacola, my goal: write for the world and move forward the first-hand accounts about their struggles. I so wanted the world to care about the continued and unrelenting day-to-day plight of human beings who lost everything due to a hurricane. While some thisisbyus writers posted words revealing genuine concern and some provided positive feedback regarding the prose I chose there were countless others who took issue with the title, From Hitler to Jim Crow. Up to this point I never realized how many writers peddled their influence via virtual words attempting to set their plans of distraction in place against Senator Obama. Embracing a laissez-faire attitude has never been my style and I understood the price for the poor, the displaced, was too high for me to remain silent where these savvy writers were concerned. As these writers began using Hitler and his ideology in their comparisons to Senator Obama I found myself becoming increasingly insulted. Julian, I am proud to be an American, though naturalized, and using any analogy to Hitler enabled me to confront their criminal words as it became clear Senator Obama had a real shot at the White House. Conversely, Senator Hillary Clinton’s supporters became to a greater extent venomous with what I perceived to be their race-based objections used as diversions when they saw the handwriting on the wall Senator Obama was becoming the frontrunner in the race to the White House. As I held tight to my dream and goal to show the plight of the displaced in Pensacola I found myself washed into a political hurricane once other writers became more and more aware of the strength of my conviction that Senator Obama was the only logical choice for President of the United States of America.

After a lifetime of overachieving, aiming to be excellent at everything, and three failed tech startups in Silicon Valley, Kelly Trach was stirred by a simple question: What if I just did what I’m good at? Now a six-figure business coach, Kelly poses the same question to you: What if you just did what you’re good at? Despite conventional wisdom, the gifts and experience you need are already innate. Having that “it factor” or “special ingredient” isn’t as elusive as you may think. P.S. You’re a Genius takes you on a self-reflective journey to find your own gifts (especially when you don’t feel “gifted” at all), asking questions like: How are your idols a reflection of your own genius? What are you great at that nobody taught you how to do? How is your darkest shadow your greatest gift? What have you been unexpectedly criticized for? Through these questions and more, you’ll uncover the ways you naturally excel, relinquish the lie that you’re not “good enough,” and discover how to convincingly convey your value to anyone.
