Book All the President s Women

Download or read book All the President s Women written by Barry Levine and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2019-10-22 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With groundbreaking interviews, behind-the-scenes reporting, and never-before-seen photos, All the President's Women records 43 new allegations of sexual misconduct against President Trump, including that of E. Jean Carroll, the woman at the center of the civil trial that found Trump liable for sexual abuse in 2023. During his 2016 presidential run, the revelation of the Access Hollywood tape and subsequent allegations of sexual misconduct lodged against Donald Trump looked like they might doom his candidacy. Trump survived, and the first two years of the real estate scion's presidency were marked not by controversy over his behavior around women but by the Mueller investigation. Outside of being found liable for sexual abuse in a 2023 civil trial that awarded E. Jean Carroll $5 million in damages, Trump has widely dodged the #MeToo bullet that has taken down so many once-powerful men. But despite the decades of tabloid fascination with his personal life, the story of Trump's relationship with women has never been fully told. Considering his bully pulpit in the White House, the reckoning is overdue. All the President's Women offers the most detailed account yet of Trump's history with women, dating back to his childhood and high school days through his rise in real estate, reality TV, and politics. This book will show that Trump's behavior goes far beyond occasional "locker-room talk" and unwanted advances. Barry Levine and Monique El-Faizy detail more than a dozen new allegations against Trump, including a disturbing attack on a woman at Mar-a-Lago, an incident at a private Manhattan sex club involving a teenage girl, as well as Trump's behavior at fashion shows and beauty pageants--events that gave the future president a hunting ground to harass young women. Veteran journalists Levine and El-Faizy tell the story of Trump from the point of view of the women in his orbit--wives, mistresses, playmates, and those whom the president has dated, kissed, groped, or lusted after.

Uber-stylist Bebe Braddock plans to juice up her Instagram feed and thinks Jaine would make a perfect “Before & After” model. The police, however, aren’t the only ones showing interest in her—so is Justin, Bebe’s very cute, very young personal assistant. While Jaine navigates a cougar-style romance, Prozac is mistakenly hailed as a feline hero and catapults into internet fame. Still, there are more urgent matters at hand than Prozac’s swelling ego. Book The Hollywood Renaissance

Download or read book The Hollywood Renaissance written by Yannis Tzioumakis and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2018-06-28 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In December 1967, Time magazine put Bonnie and Clyde on its cover and proudly declared that Hollywood cinema was undergoing a 'renaissance'. For the next few years, a wide range of formally and thematically challenging films were produced at the very centre of the American film industry, often (but by no means always) combining success at the box office with huge critical acclaim, both then and later. This collection brings together acknowledged experts on American cinema to examine thirteen key films from the years 1966 to 1974, starting with Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, a major studio release which was in effect exempted from Hollywood's Production Code and thus helped to liberate American filmmaking from (self-)censorship. Long-standing taboos to do with sex, violence, race relations, drugs, politics, religion and much else could now be broken, often in conjunction with extensive stylistic experimentation. Whereas most previous scholarship has examined these developments through the prism of auteurism, with its tight focus on film directors and their oeuvres, the contributors to this collection also carefully examine production histories and processes. In doing so they pay particular attention to the economic underpinnings and collaborative nature of filmmaking, the influence of European art cinema as well as of exploitation, experimental and underground films, and the connections between cinema and other media (notably publishing, music and theatre). Several chapters show how the innovations of the Hollywood Renaissance relate to further changes in American cinema from the mid-1970s onwards.

Download or read book Free Ride written by Robert Levine and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2011-10-25 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How did the newspaper, music, and film industries go from raking in big bucks to scooping up digital dimes? Their customers were lured away by the free ride of technology. Now, business journalist Robert Levine shows how they can get back on track. On the Internet, “information wants to be free.” This memorable phrase shaped the online business model, but it is now driving the media companies on whom the digital industry feeds out of business. Today, newspaper stocks have fallen to all-time lows as papers are pressured to give away content, music sales have fallen by more than half since file sharing became common, TV ratings are plummeting as viewership migrates online, and publishers face off against Amazon over the price of digital books. In Free Ride, Robert Levine narrates an epic tale of value destruction that moves from the corridors of Congress, where the law was passed that legalized YouTube, to the dorm room of Shawn Fanning, the founder of Napster; from the bargain-pricing dramas involving iTunes and Kindle to Google’s fateful decision to digitize first and ask questions later. Levine charts how the media industry lost control of its destiny and suggests innovative ways it can resist the pull of zero. Fearless in its reporting and analysis, Free Ride is the business history of the decade and a much-needed call to action.

Download or read book Hyde written by Daniel Levine and published by HMH. This book was released on 2014-03-18 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “An ingenious revision” of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Gothic story told through the eyes of the fiend (The New York Times Book Review). Mr. Hyde is trapped, locked in Dr. Jekyll’s house, certain of his inevitable capture. As the dreadful hours pass, he has the chance, finally, to tell his side of the story—one of buried dreams and dark lusts, both liberating and obscured in the gaslit fog of Victorian London’s sordid backstreets. Summoned to life by strange potions, Hyde knows not when or how long he will have control of “the body.” When dormant, he watches Dr. Jekyll from a distance, conscious of this other, high-class life but without influence. As the experiment continues, their mutual existence is threatened, not only by the uncertainties of untested science, but also by a mysterious stalker. Hyde is being taunted—possibly framed. Girls have gone missing; a murder has been committed. And someone is always watching from the shadows. In the blur of this shared consciousness, can Hyde ever truly know if these crimes were committed by his hands? Narrated by Hyde, this serpentine tale about the nature of evil, addiction, and the duality of man “delivers a new look at this enigmatic character and intriguing possible explanations for Jekyll’s behavior” (The Washington Post, Five Best Thrillers of 2014). “Hyde brings into the light the various horrors still hidden in the dark heart of Stevenson’s classic tale . . . a blazing triumph of the gothic imagination.” —Patrick McGrath, author of Asylum “Earthy, lurid, and unsparing . . . a worthy companion to its predecessor. It’s rich in gloomy, moody atmosphere (Levine’s London has a brutal steampunk quality), and its narrator’s plight is genuinely poignant.” —The New York Times Book Review, Editors’ Choice

Book Demystifying Love

    Book Details:
  • Author : Stephen B. Levine
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2013-05-13
  • ISBN : 113591379X
  • Pages : 120 pages

Download or read book Demystifying Love written by Stephen B. Levine and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-05-13 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intended primarily for mental health professionals, Demystifying Love deals plainly with topics rarely written about for clinicians. The book discusses in a small package highly readable and useful topics, such as love (as both noun and verb), psychological intimacy, sexual desire, as well as infidelity, both in background concepts and clinical guidelines. As the book shows, love is the logical point of departure for a clinical understanding of sexuality and its problems. It is the most conventional framework for understanding sexual behaviors, the one that is broadly endorsed across many cultures, often as the ideal context for sexual expression. The book integrates an analysis of love in patients dealing with intimacy, sexual desire, infidelity, forgiveness and reconciliation. Detailed with compelling case studies, the author’s skill as a therapist comes through in the discussion of these topics—many of which are at the heart of numerous couple problems. In creating this illuminating work for mental health professionals, Dr. Levine may have underestimated its appeal. Dr. Levine’s ability to shed light on our internal processes as we love and attempt to be loved throughout life may prove to be of interest to a far broader audience.
