Productive conversation requires mutual understanding of insights across disciplinary boundaries. Knowing Creation offers an essential resource for helping scholars from a range of fields to appreciate one another's concerns and perspectives. In so doing, it offers an important step forward in establishing a mutually-enriching dialogue that addresses, amongst others, the following key questions: Who is the God who creates? Why does God create? What is "creation"? What does it mean to recognize that a theology of creation speaks of a natural world that is subject to the observation of the natural sciences? What does it mean to talk about both a "natural" order and a "created" order? What are the major tensions that have arisen between the natural sciences and Christian thinking historically, and why? How can we move beyond such tensions to a positive and constructive conversation, while also avoiding facile notions such as a "god of the gaps"? Space in the human mind got converted into two parts, one occupied by religion and other by science. There was a small area in between which was occupied by the philosophers trying to interconnect between these two parts. Finally humanity arrived in two lay religions namely communism and capitalism The capitalism stresses on the creation of wealth. Through a strange twist of history the humanity is in the midst of globalization and creation of wealth today. This in turn is creating large scale disparities in the income pattern in all societies. Philosophers have dried out of ideas and humanity has come to the end of the road. Where are we heading for? No one appears to be sure.Are we coming to the end of the history of human race? Three possibilities are forthcoming. A nuclear war in the Middle East can play havoc. Humanity is now riding on a ship floating on a sea of paper currencies printed all over the world and we are not sure where the ship is going to sink. Environmental pollution is causing growing concern about global warming. Situation is alarming. It is time for the world leaders to think aloud and take concrete steps to prevent a disastrous calamity engulfing the human race.

To contemplate this predicament through philosophy is to reflect on such questions as, What makes cultural forms of life possible? What is encompassed in them? What lies at their core? What distinguishes them from natural forms of life? What brings them about, sustains, and causes them to change? Philosophical answers to these questions predate abstract ways of thinking, as they are sometimes embedded in ancient mythical and religious narratives. Such is the story told in the first three chapters of the book of Genesis in the Bible, revealing how human beings became the cultural beings that they are. This study suggests how that ancient and most celebrated story in the literature of the West may be read as harboring insightful philosophical observations on the cultural nature of human beings. It first focuses on the very concept of cultural forms of life, revealing its complicated conceptual links to natural forms of life. It then offers an interpretive framework for reading mythical, symbolic narratives. Using these ideas, it provides a philosophical reading of the Biblical narrative, disclosing it to harbor a metaphysically oriented conception of nature and two insightful philosophical overviews of the cultural nature of human beings. Both overviews endow human beings with an ability to manipulate nature, but in different ways: the first by subjugating parcels of nature to human will; the second by subjugating human beings themselves to a value-laden conception of things and ethical forms of life. Thus, human beings are portrayed as natural creatures possessed of a cultural nature that enables them to transform nature and recreate themselves through their unique cultural predicament.
