Tanto el marco general de la primera sección como las situaciones concretas de la segunda muestran la riqueza y la variedad de las interpretaciones que se producen en la actualidad sobre la integración regional. Consideramos positiva la participación de académicos provenientes de distintos campos, disciplinas y distintas experiencias nacionales. A los de Argentina, Brasil, El Salvador, México, Uruguay y Venezuela, se agregan dos de la UE, mientras en las disciplinas que representan encontramos la ciencia política, la economía, la historia, las relaciones internacionales y la sociología.
