En la practica deportiva realizo las siguientes actividades: Practico el fut bol en las fuerzas básicas del club deportivo gallos del Jalisco y la universidad de Guadalajara represento la selección de vóley bol de la escuela primaria federal oblatos y la selección de beis bol de la secundaria No. 1, formo parte de la selección de fut bol de la facultad de economía de la universidad de Guadalajara, En el campo laboral trabajo en e taller de calzado de su padre, en el taller de laminado y pintura de su tío y se integra al sistema de educación prescolar abierta del D.I.F Jalisco, posteriormente se integra a trabajar en la secretaria de pesca delegación Jalisco en las áreas de auditoría y capacitación pesquera pasa a integrarse a la dirección de fortalecimiento municipal del estado de Jalisco, posteriormente se integra al departamento de auditoría a patrones del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, Incorporándose por último a la docencia en la universidad de Guadalajara en las escuelas Preparatoria de Jalisco y Escuela Vocacional y al Centro Universitario de Ciencias Exactas e Ingenierías de la Universidad de Guadalajara.

Book excerpt: "Historians have long looked to networks of elite liberal and anti-clerical men as the driving forces in Mexican history over the course of the long nineteenth century. This traditional view, writes Margaret Chowning, cannot account for the continued power of the Catholic Church in Mexico, which has withstood extensive and sustained political opposition for over a century. How, then, must the scholarly consensus change to better reflect Mexico's history? In this book, Chowning shows that the church repeatedly emerged as a political player, even when liberals won elections, primarily because of the overlooked importance of women in politics. Catholic women kept the church alive through the wars of independence and made it into the political force it continues to be in present-day Mexico. Using archival sources from ten Mexican states, the book shows how women, who were denied the vote and expected to stay out of the political sphere, nevertheless forged their own form of citizenship through the church. After Mexico gained its independence in 1821, women self-consciously developed new lay associations and assumed leadership roles within them. These new associations not only kept Catholicism vibrant, they also pushed women into public sphere. Methodologically, this book shows the value of exploring gender in political and religious history and reveals the equal importance of informal political power to more formal activities like voting"--

Pero en ellos se habla de la vida: de cosas como la inmigración, los palestinos, la utopía de la historia humana, el PNUD, la libertad para salir del propio cenáculo, el economista Stiglitz o los pobres, las guerras, el cuidado, el dolor del mundo o la aceptación de la diversidad... Es decir: se habla de lo que le importa a Dios, no de los que interesa a los guardianes de la institución u “oficiales” de la Iglesia, a los que parece que sólo interesa la vida intrauterina y la del más allá. Aquí la pasión creyente y el sentido de la gratuidad llevan a esta importante advertencia: no basta defender causas nobles por muy nobles que sean; además hay que defenderlas noblemente. De modo que, si la separación entre fe y vida afectaba a los creyentes, esta otra observación vale para todos, sea cual sea la cosmovisión que profesen; y ella misma ya es un acto de fe.

El trabajo que emprendió Julio es con la finalidad de dejar la menor cantidad de lagunas posibles y poder así sacar a relucir los pormenores de su amada escuela y del marino que tanto tuvo que ver en su reapertura y fortalecimiento. Su compendio es un registro ameno cuya intención es la de poder llegar a los lectores interesados en descubrir las fases de la fundación de su alma mater y de conocer mejor a la persona que la consolidó. While contemporary historiography of science has studied the interactions between nation building and the construction of modern scientific and technological institutions, “science-and-religion” is still largely based on a supposed universal historiography in which global notions of “science” and of “religion” are seldom challenged. This book explores the interface between science, religion and nationalism at a local level, paying attention to the roles religious institutions, specific confessional traditions, or an undefined notion of “religion” played in the construction of modern science in national contexts: the use of anti-clerical rhetoric as scapegoat for a perceived scientific and technological backwardness; the part of religious tropes in the emergence of a sense of belonging in new states; the creation of “invented traditions” that included religious and scientific myths so as to promote new identities; the struggles among different confessional traditions in their claims to pre-eminence within a specific nation-state, etc. Moreover, the chapters in this book illuminate the processes by which religious myths and institutions were largely substituted by stories of progress in science and technology which often contributed to nationalistic ideologies.

Patricia Londoño-Vega gives a vivid picture of some of the factors that reduced social distances in the province of Antioquia during this period of relative harmony and prosperity. She examines hundreds of the groups and voluntary associations which flourished at this time and which brought a growing number of Antioqueños of different social backgrounds together around religious practices and societies, the exercising of charity, a concern for education, and the pursuit of cultural progress. The book describes the crucial role played by religion and the Catholic Church, which underwent considerable growth after the turbulent period of mid-nineteenth century liberal reforms until the end of the conservative era in 1930, and traces the progress of parishes, devotional associations, religious communities, private and public religiosity, and numeros pilanthropic societies, all of which brought about the bonds between the classes. The author examines achievements in education and the emergence of a thriving gamut of literary groups, public libraries, social clubs, and other assciations created to promote public instuction, pedagogy, manners, temperance, 'cultivated' music, and moral improvement. These cultural associations strove towards the longed-for civilisation, as percieved in its prevalent Western connotations. The social intermingling brought about by all these forms of sociability did not of course abolish class distinctions, but did generate a complex and closely integrated society, with an optimistic and constructive view of itself. The description of social and cultural dynamism, set against the background of growing religiiosity, challenges the seldom-discussed assumption that religion slowed down social and cultural modernisation. Primary evidence, drawn from extensive researh in proceedings and reports by groups, associations, periodical publications, statistics, diaries and memoirs, travellers' accounts, books of etiquette, genre literature and other contemporary publications, as well as visual images, particulary photographs, document important topics which have in the past attracted little attention from scholars.

Book excerpt: The Roots of Conservatism is the first attempt to ask why over the past two centuries so many Mexican peasants have opted to ally with conservative groups rather than their radical counterparts. Blending socioeconomic history, cultural analysis, and political narrative, Smith’s study begins with the late Bourbon period and moves through the early republic, the mid-nineteenth-century Reforma, the Porfiriato, and the Revolution, when the Mixtecs rejected Zapatista offers of land distribution, ending with the armed religious uprising known as the “last Cristiada,” a desperate Cold War bid to rid the region of impious “communist” governance. In recounting this long tradition of regional conservatism, Smith emphasizes the influence of religious belief, church ritual, and lay-clerical relations both on social relations and on political affiliation. He posits that many Mexican peasants embraced provincial conservatism, a variant of elite or metropolitan conservatism, which not only comprised ideas on property, hierarchy, and the state, but also the overwhelming import of the church to maintaining this system.
