Book excerpt: What is the overall story of the Bible? How do its various parts fit together? How can Jesus claim to be the fulfillment of the promises of God? Christians believe that the sovereign, all-powerful, infinite, Triune God of the universe has chosen to speak to people through the Bible. But sometimes this Bible can be daunting in its size and scope, and many people who read the Bible struggle with understanding how it all fits together. His Unified Word presents an eight-week Bible study that traces the storyline of the Bible from beginning to end and explores how every theme is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus. Twenty Old Testament and twenty New Testament passages reveal the big picture of creation, rebellion, redemption, and restoration. Each one of the forty days in the study guides readers through a Bible passage, an explanatory commentary, and thoughtful interaction with the text. Teaching sections at the end of each week also explain how all of the passages fit together through covenants, types, and promises. Ideal for both individuals and groups, this uplifting study will enrich knowledge of God and love for his unified Word.

Book Words of Power Quest

Download or read book Words of Power Quest written by Cozy and published by Partridge Publishing Singapore. This book was released on 2018-03-23 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What was the best way to teach others? What could I have done better? How should I proceed with teaching people? My answer was write a story. But it cant be a simple, boring tale that can be finished selfishly without interacting with anyone else. There must be a better way, I thought. And it hit me. Actors in a script take turns to read their lines, and readers can take turns role-playing my characters. Ergo, writing in a script-like format could spawn a new social activity altogether, even if it costs me sales. But that too is alright. I do not write because I need the income. I write with these incapable hands of mine because the stories deserve every opportunity to exist.

Book What on Earth Are You

    Book Details:
  • Author : Richard H. Palmquist
  • Publisher : Archway Publishing
  • Release : 2019-01-10
  • ISBN : 1480871540
  • Pages : 36 pages

Download or read book What on Earth Are You written by Richard H. Palmquist and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2019-01-10 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Freud postulated generalities about the make-up of a person. In What on Earth are You, author Richard Palmquist attempts to go one layer deeper, sorting out the aspects of personality relating to God and to society. Most people only partly understand what “makes you tick.” Even the most well-known psychological experts seem to hesitate to suggest how the unseen parts of a person fit together. Palmquist shows how defining the inner workings of your relationships with God and your friends can help your quality of life to become a melodious, joyful, fun experience. He asks you to answer a host of questions: · How do you define your character? · Does your willful mental emotion control your conscious, memory-fueled ego? · Are you soul-centered? · Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to fill and to control your spirit? · Does your spirit, your memory-driven, conscious ego, rule over your willful mind and emotion? What on Earth Are You? offers an engaging religious and philosophical commentary that asks you to seek God and his promise of salvation and eternity while discovering your purpose and destiny in faith.

Book Possible Knowledge

    Book Details:
  • Author : Debapriya Sarkar
  • Publisher : University of Pennsylvania Press
  • Release : 2023-06-06
  • ISBN : 1512823368
  • Pages : 281 pages

Download or read book Possible Knowledge written by Debapriya Sarkar and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2023-06-06 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Renaissance, scholars have long argued, was a period beset by the loss of philosophical certainty. In Possible Knowledge, Debapriya Sarkar argues for the pivotal role of literature--what early moderns termed poesie--in the dynamic intellectual culture of this era of profound incertitude. Revealing how problems of epistemology are inextricable from questions of literary form, Sarkar offers a defense of poiesis, or literary making, as a vital philosophical endeavor. Working across a range of genres, Sarkar theorizes "possible knowledge" as an intellectual paradigm crafted in and through literary form. Sixteenth- and seventeenth-century writers such as Spenser, Bacon, Shakespeare, Cavendish, and Milton marshalled the capacious concept of the "possible," defined by Philip Sidney as what "may be and should be," to construct new theories of physical and metaphysical reality. These early modern thinkers mobilized the imaginative habits of thought constitutive to major genres of literary writing--including epic, tragedy, romance, lyric, and utopia--in order to produce knowledge divorced from historical truth and empirical fact by envisioning states of being untethered from "nature" or reality. Approaching imaginative modes such as hypothesis, conjecture, prediction, and counterfactuals as instruments of possible knowledge, Sarkar exposes how the speculative allure of the "possible" lurks within scientific experiment, induction, and theories of probability. In showing how early modern literary writing sought to grapple with the challenge of forging knowledge in an uncertain, perhaps even incomprehensible world, Possible Knowledge also highlights its most audacious intellectual ambition: its claim that while natural philosophy, or what we today term science, might explain the physical world, literature could remake reality. Enacting a history of ideas that centers literary studies, Possible Knowledge suggests that what we have termed a history of science might ultimately be a history of the imagination.
