There is also a new section on lorry driving with licence and training requirements. Gil Jackson worked firstly as a delivery driver before moving into Health & Safety. With ambitions of management he went into other essential aspects of the business. As transport manager he was responsible for keeping track of 40-odd vans with all the paperwork that involved, like maintenance and insurance. As Data-Post Controller he was responsible for organising collections for the many Parcelforce customers both ad-hoc and commercial. Debriefing introduced an interesting aspect of the business in that figures had to be taken from returning drivers as to their deliveries or failures. These figures, along with wages and overtime were needed for the day to day running statistics submitted to head office. He was also involved with customer services both on the telephone and at the front desk dealing with the receiving of inland parcels as well as those destined for Europe and the rest of the world. Eventually leaving Royal Mail he set up his own training school. Mr. Jackson is probably the most knowledgeable person around when it comes to guiding you into a career in the Multi-Drop Logistics business.
