TIMSS is a project of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) and is directed by the TIMSS International Study Center at Boston College in collaboration with a worldwide network of organizations and representatives from the participating countries. ACER is responsible for undertaking the data collection in Australian schools.

This report focuses on the performance of U.S. students relative to that of their peers in other countries in 2007, and on changes in math and science achievement since 1995. Thirty-six countries or educational jurisdictions participated at grade 4 in 2007, while 48 participated at grade 8. This report also describes additional details about the achievement of U.S. student sub-populations. Extensive charts, tables and graphs.
