Download or read book Performance Analysis of Parallel Applications for HPC written by Jidong Zhai and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-09 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a hybrid static-dynamic approach for efficient performance analysis of parallel applications on HPC systems. Performance analysis is essential to finding performance bottlenecks and understanding the performance behaviors of parallel applications on HPC systems. However, current performance analysis techniques usually incur significant overhead. Our book introduces a series of approaches for lightweight performance analysis. We combine static and dynamic analysis to reduce the overhead of performance analysis. Based on this hybrid static-dynamic approach, we then propose several innovative techniques for various performance analysis scenarios, including communication analysis, memory analysis, noise analysis, computation analysis, and scalability analysis. Through these specific performance analysis techniques, we convey to readers the idea of using static analysis to support dynamic analysis. To gain the most from the book, readers should have a basic grasp of parallel computing, computer architecture, and compilation techniques.

Download or read book Advanced Parallel and Distributed Computing written by Yuan-Shun Dai and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of parallel and distributed computing is undergoing changes at a breathtaking pace. Networked computers are now omnipresent in virtually every application, from games to sophisticated space missions. The increasing complexity, heterogeneity, largeness, and dynamism of the emerging pervasive environments and associated applications are challenging the advancement of the parallel and distributed computing paradigm. Many novel infrastructures have been or are being created to provide the necessary computational fabric for realising parallel and distributed applications from diverse domains. New models and tools are also being proposed to evaluate and predict the quality of these complicated parallel and distributed systems. Current and recent past efforts, made to provide the infrastructures and models for such applications, have addressed many underlying complex problems and have thus resulted in new tools and paradigms for effectively realising parallel and distributed systems. This book showcases these novel tools and approaches with inputs from relevant experts.

Download or read book High Performance Computing in Clouds written by Edson Borin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-05 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings a thorough explanation on the path needed to use cloud computing technologies to run High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications. Besides presenting the motivation behind moving HPC applications to the cloud, it covers both essential and advanced issues on this topic such as deploying HPC applications and infrastructures, designing cloud-friendly HPC applications, and optimizing a provisioned cloud infrastructure to run this family of applications. Additionally, this book also describes the best practices to maintain and keep running HPC applications in the cloud by employing fault tolerance techniques and avoiding resource wastage. To give practical meaning to topics covered in this book, it brings some case studies where HPC applications, used in relevant scientific areas like Bioinformatics and Oil and Gas industry were moved to the cloud. Moreover, it also discusses how to train deep learning models in the cloud elucidating the key components and aspects necessary to train these models via different types of services offered by cloud providers. Despite the vast bibliography about cloud computing and HPC, to the best of our knowledge, no existing manuscript has comprehensively covered these topics and discussed the steps, methods and strategies to execute HPC applications in clouds. Therefore, we believe this title is useful for IT professionals and students and researchers interested in cutting-edge technologies, concepts, and insights focusing on the use of cloud technologies to run HPC applications.
