Book The Gift of Her Submission

Download or read book The Gift of Her Submission written by Sascha Illyvich and published by Renaissance EBooks. This book was released on 2009-07-07 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Man who Lives the Life writes His First Book about Dominant Men and the Women who are Their Slaves! With subs and former subs scattered across the country, bestselling author Sascha Illyvich has waited till now to create a picture of cruel masters who force the women they have chosen to submit and then teach them to love it! By turns savage, ravishing bdsm, and heart-pounding romance The Gift of Her Submission defies description. As Ayden Delacroix has written in In the Library Reviews: Mr. Illyvich wonderfully portrays the Dom/sub relationship as it can be: romantic, caring and full of love. While I found some of the stories contained a bit too much pain for my taste, they were still delicately written and contained warmth. A must-read!

Download or read book Submission written by Michel Houellebecq and published by Random House. This book was released on 2016-09-08 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the 2022 French Presidential election looms, two candidates emerge as favourites: Marine Le Pen of the Front National, and the charismatic Muhammed Ben Abbes of the growing Muslim Fraternity. Forming a controversial alliance with the political left to block the Front National’s alarming ascendency, Ben Abbes sweeps to power, and overnight the country is transformed. This proves to be the death knell of French secularism, as Islamic law comes into force: women are veiled, polygamy is encouraged and, for our narrator François – misanthropic, middle-aged and alienated – life is set on a new course. Submission is a devastating satire, comic and melancholy by turns, and a profound meditation on faith and meaning in Western society.

Book Recognizing Other Subjects

Download or read book Recognizing Other Subjects written by Katherine E Lassiter and published by Lutterworth Press. This book was released on 2017-01-26 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do we care justly when the self suffers because of the identity that they inhabit? Pastoral theologian Katharine E. Lassiter approaches this interdisciplinary question from a feminist perspective in order to understand how suffering, subject formation, and social injustice are connected. Lassiter identifies the challenges of identity in developing a pastoral theological anthropology, reflecting on tensions in her own experiences of caring for selves. Drawing from theories of recognition, she argues that doing just care requires recognizing the need for recognition as well as acknowledging the impediments to receiving interpersonal, social, and theological recognition. Bringing together resources from pastoral theology and social theory, she develops a feminist pastoral theology and praxis of encounter in order to advance a care that does justice. Scholars, social justice practitioners, and pastoral caregivers will be able to use this resource to discover not only how and why recognition affects human development but also how we might implement a liberative theological praxis that is attentive to the role of recognition in subject formation.

Book We Are Not Born Submissive

Download or read book We Are Not Born Submissive written by Manon Garcia and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2023-01-24 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A philosophical exploration of female submission, using insights from feminist thinkers—especially Simone de Beauvoir—to reveal the complexities of women’s reality and lived experience What role do women play in the perpetuation of patriarchy? On the one hand, popular media urges women to be independent, outspoken, and career-minded. Yet, this same media glorifies a specific, sometimes voluntary, female submissiveness as a source of satisfaction. In philosophy, even less has been said on why women submit to men and the discussion has been equally contradictory—submission has traditionally been considered a vice or pathology, but female submission has been valorized as innate to women’s nature. Is there a way to explore female submission in all of its complexity—not denying its appeal in certain instances, and not buying into an antifeminist, sexist, or misogynistic perspective? We Are Not Born Submissive offers the first in-depth philosophical exploration of female submission, focusing on the thinking of Simone de Beauvoir, and more recent work in feminist philosophy, epistemology, and political theory. Manon Garcia argues that to comprehend female submission, we must invert how we examine power and see it from the woman’s point of view. Historically, philosophers, psychoanalysts, and even some radical feminists have conflated femininity and submission. Garcia demonstrates that only through the lens of women’s lived experiences—their economic, social, and political situations—and how women adapt their preferences to maintain their own well-being, can we understand the ways in which gender hierarchies in society shape women’s experiences. Ultimately, she asserts that women do not actively choose submission. Rather, they consent to—and sometimes take pleasure in—what is prescribed to them through social norms within a patriarchy. Moving beyond the simplistic binary of natural destiny or moral vice, We Are Not Born Submissive takes a sophisticated look at how female submissiveness can be explained.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What can we know about the apostle Paul, and what difference does it make? Paul of Tarsus was an undeniably forceful presence in the early Christian church, instructing fledgling congregations of believers throughout the Mediterranean in person and by letter and authoring about half of the New Testament in the process. But who was this powerful personality? And how can students most benefit from the extensive studies on Paul available today? New Testament scholars Miguel Echevarria and Benjamin Laird provide an invaluable foundation for students beginning their investigations into the apostle Paul, Paul's theology, and Pauline studies, addressing orienting questions such as these: • What do we know about Paul's family? • How did Paul's companions assist in the composition and distribution of his letters? • Did Paul think his letters were authoritative Scripture? • Is there a center to Paul's theology? • What is Paul's Christology? • What are the strengths and weaknesses of the New Perspective on Paul? • Does Paul address slavery and racial division? Through its question-and-answer format, 40 Questions about the Apostle Paul provides a succinct introduction and entryway to more advanced study of Paul and the Pauline letter corpus.
