Recruiters, Human Resource Professionals, and Senior Management probe us for the 'end vision' of our career, but in most cases ironically, not our life goals. There is the so-called one year business plan, the five year plan, and so forth. Emphasis is placed on advancement, success, wealth, and all of the amenities our career and the world will provide us. The business objective is to seek and hire individuals who will enable the corporate plan. In other words, to basically seek what motivates us and see if there is a good 'fit'. This is not meant as a complaint or critique, but merely an observation. The only issue, in my humble opinion, is the process does not cover the main objective we should be seeking before, during, and after, achieving these goals. How do we better integrate Christian Principles with Best Business Practices into our lives. Business-people on deal in what is practical, makes good common sense, and how they can achieve a great return on their investment. If wealth, fame, and prosperity end at the grave, then where is the true Return on Investment? If, on the other hand, we integrate the end vision of Heaven into our daily lives and career objectives we will achieve all of our goals. This book was written to assist people in all walks of business and life to understand that faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ, can be the greatest avenue to personal and financial success. Imagine the beauty and happiness of Hawai'i magnified infinitely, and so much more, for all of eternity, shared with God and our friends and loved ones. Now that is a Heavenly Return on Investment. Which path would you follow? Proceeding down the same track which mankind as a whole is on now, or the latter following the route of repentance, remorse, forgiveness, and asking for mercy? Only we can determine our own fate. God has provided each of us a Free Will which enables us to determine our actions in this life, be they good or bad. We alone, individually, will determine if our life is judged by the Just God or the Merciful God, and our destination is hell or heaven. God has given us an opportunity to grow ever closer to him. Like the Father in the parable of the prodigal son, God is always ready to rush to us whenever, we want him in our lives, and embrace us with his love and mercy, and take us back to our heavenly home. "For God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten son, so that whoever believes in him will be saved." John 3:16 The word eternal means constant or forever. The Bible refers to the final judgment that God will declare on individuals. This judgment will determine our state for eternity. It's important to realize that all judgment comes through Jesus, the Son of God. "For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son" (John 5:22 NKJ). Our decision regarding Jesus determines our eternal judgment. If we accept Jesus as our Lord, we will spend eternity with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. If we reject Jesus, as our personal Savior, we will spend eternity in the lake of fire. Notice how unbelievers will be eternally judged: And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. And any one not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. (Rev. 20:12,15 NKJ) If people do all kinds of good works, but fail to accept Jesus as their personal Savior, they will be judged to spend eternity in the lake of fire which is commonly known as hell. Jesus will also judge Christians for their works while living on the earth (Rom. 14:10; 2 Cor. 5:10). This judgment shall determine their placement in the Kingdom of God forever. The life we are living now will actually determine our eternal state; this is the meaning of eternal judgment. Please make use of The Divine Timeout to reaffirm, recommit, and rekindle our Faith and Love in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and our fellow man, so we will be prepared to meet him upon his Triumphant Return to Earth and eternally enjoy the fruits of his love for us and ours for him in Heaven. For humanitarian and many other reasons, this may be good news. But as George Borjas shows in Heaven's Door, it's decidedly mixed news for the American economy--and positively bad news for the country's poorest citizens. Widely regarded as the country's leading immigration economist, Borjas presents the most comprehensive, accessible, and up-to-date account yet of the economic impact of recent immigration on America. He reveals that the benefits of immigration have been greatly exaggerated and that, if we allow immigration to continue unabated and unmodified, we are supporting an astonishing transfer of wealth from the poorest people in the country, who are disproportionately minorities, to the richest. In the course of the book, Borjas carefully analyzes immigrants' skills, national origins, welfare use, economic mobility, and impact on the labor market, and he makes groundbreaking use of new data to trace current trends in ethnic segregation. He also evaluates the implications of the evidence for the type of immigration policy the that U.S. should pursue. Some of his findings are dramatic: Despite estimates that range into hundreds of billions of dollars, net annual gains from immigration are only about $8 billion. In dragging down wages, immigration currently shifts about $160 billion per year from workers to employers and users of immigrants' services. Immigrants today are less skilled than their predecessors, more likely to re-quire public assistance, and far more likely to have children who remain in poor, segregated communities. Borjas considers the moral arguments against restricting immigration and writes eloquently about his own past as an immigrant from Cuba. But he concludes that in the current economic climate--which is less conducive to mass immigration of unskilled labor than past eras--it would be fair and wise to return immigration to the levels of the 1970s (roughly 500,000 per year) and institute policies to favor more skilled immigrants.
